Wow, an excellent video, I wish I could have watched this years ago. Better late than ever. Thank you so much for this aesthetically pleasing, well-narrated, well-educated perspective on an issue that I've struggled with my whole gaming life and am just now starting to be able to overcome. Good job!
I play CSGO. I have 280 hours and my competitive rankings teeter between silver 2 and 3. I always have this anxiety in the back of my mind when I play because I feel that I should be better than I am. I mean at this point I should be at least silver 4, right? So I was playing some matches tonight and was doing very poorly. I was getting so upset that I could barely speak. I felt depressed because I spend so much of my time on this game and I don't feel like I'm improving at all. I ended up taking a break and I searched for videos on how to improve my aim and I found this. Your video really helped me change my perspective on my failures and when I got back on (playing casual instead of competitive) I found it a lot easier to accept when I was killed in a more reserved manner, instead of shouting the F word into my mic. I feel like I'm learning again, even if it's a really slow process. Thanks for making this :)
What led up to that? There's more then likely something you could have done to prevent it. Find out what it is and keep it noted and think of how you could prevent it
This is very well done..as someone who studies psychology, there's alot of things that are known as mental blocks. It can be the old "I'm better than my rank it's other peoples fault". It's the most common one. There's a reason people at pro levels can become the higher ranked players quite easily. They know how good they are and know what they're lacking. Working on that is massive for progression in all aspects of life. This is also why many E-Sports organizations have mental coaches.
Fear and frustration sums it up nicely. Part of my problem is that I'm a very negative person whose reactions to most things are either anger or apathy. It is very difficult for me to control my rage and I often do things I regret. These feelings are multiplied tenfold in games. Another problem is that I don't know how to have fun anymore. Lastly, I just can't seem to learn from mistakes.
This was such a good video to watch as I have the constant negative of raging at small things while playing. I will start to look at every mistake on how I can improve it from happening again rather than just getting angry.

I learned this many years ago trying to understand why I dominated friends and my neighborhood in the video games. The biggest difference was I played to get better while everybody else just played to win. If they found a move or 2 when the game was released they would spend the whole year doing the same thing a million times. They wouldn’t learn anything else until they was forced to. I was guilty of that too as a little kid but playing that way became boring asf to me as I got older. It was no way I could put 100 hours into a game playing that way. I would rather play to get better and maybe win 90% of my games instead of only playing to win doing the same 2 moves and win 99% of my games. I became much better playing that way, people get caught up too much in the W-L record. Yes it’s very very important, but it’s not everything.
This is some of the best advice I’ve ever heard. Sincerely: thank you. I’m always terrified of failure. But you’re right, it’s my decision *what* I classify as “failure.” Losing isn’t failure if it gives me experience. _Take a breath. I can do this. My goal is to grow; and anything that adds towards that _*_IS_*_ success._ Okay. Progress, let’s go buddy. 😎
10:34 I love how they use a clip of Notail playing hearthstone to represent frustration. Hearthstone can even destroy the positivity of even one of the most positive players in Dota 2.
One thing that has really helped me with tilt and rage was boxing when I was in high school as well as my fascination with philosophy. Namely Bruce Lee and Marcus Aurelius I did it to help with life and it helped with my gaming as well. It’s helped me care less about outside perspective and concern myself with my own growth as a person in all aspects of my life. My only competition is me not because I’m better but because the only thing I can control is my own skill.
I left a normal match of league early after a frustrating time. I found this video. I seriously need to reevaluate my actions. Thank you for this video!
I love your content, and I'm taking this forward in my quest to get myself out of iron in Valorant. Tilt kills my play, and it kills my enjoyment of the games. Also, I have a favor to ask. If you mention a book or separate video, it would be awesome for links. I watched/listened to this video, and then had to rewatch the whole thing just to find the title of the book you mentioned :/
I just wanna say thanks for this video. I just started playing fps multiplayer and I was getting ready to quit because I was dying all the time. But, your words of encouragement and mindset have allowed me to be fearless, which in turn has made me better player. Thank You!

we all had that moment when you had that clutch situation that your heartbeat went up, you even forgot to breathe, and when you won you got super excited but when you lost you felt terrible.
Ive noticed that the second i get frustrated i lose my capability of seeing what i do wrong. When im happy and having a great time i can tell my mistakes and what i could have done better. From my perspective, youve lost the second you let the game and enemy make you mad
I can say that you are now my favorite channel just because I was trying to find ways how to become a pro player and you show me with your videos how it works and I can see the difference now :)... I do not know if you saw and just copyright your content somewhere or you really do create it yourself but I simply do not care because your videos are great and I wish you a lot of success in your whole life and thank you for what you are doing :)
My emotions are clearly the thing that are holding me back, sometimes i have an emotionless day where i just play like a god and then there are these days where it feels like im in emotion hell, i already have that kind of a mindset cuz when i win a round without doing anything im not feeling any succees or something cuz the round gave me nothing and i would have rather lost this round to have one more round to do something, so i already have the mindset of playing to improve but if i die im so mad and it seems like i cant control it and if i just let it soak into myself im even more pissed, it is so hard on the way to go pro, people really do take this to easy and think that its so easy to game professional.....
I'm a apex legends brazilian player and i don't have any special talent in this game... But i have fear and so much frustation when i lose... Thank you guys i learn a new perspection to win more fights have challenger myself
I used to get anxiety from losing to a girl gamer in a 1v1 especially when I had bad memories from a pro basketball girl beating me and people clowning me for it. No more. Not ever. The preception in my mind losing is what made me fail. When I gave myself the preception that even if I lose, don't make me a loser- it helped me approve a lot
You'll lose to a lot of people, even those you underestimate. The key is to respect that your opponent was better than you in that moment, but recognize that you're capable of improving and becoming greater than them in the future.
Same with people for R6 from NA, if you are a gold player, solo que in EU servers. In EU Gold+ ranks are much more strategy/tactical than na is. NA is just gunning and EU is for improving other asppects besides aim.
It's so weird, when i play ranked on team games, i get MUCH less frustrated then when i play a solo game. I think that the "guilt" of loses comes just for me and not to the team
There is one thing I do need to say - based on what game you play - the part of about trying to Learn from the Match, especially when you got Overmatched/Overrun… and by the Opposing Team REAL FAST, that’s a Big Problem too when you Don’t See Where and What Happened, then how can you Learn anything anyway? That’s why Fast Matches - I’ve Skipped any point of seeing anything. I have a tendency to now Block those who are responsible to avoid being matched up with them again. And also the part - Play for the Sake of Winning feels like the Main Thing, and everyone obviously plays that way. What a Paradox.
Amazing video. Great advice. I find myself Swearing a lot and blaming randoms or basically just not taking ownership for what I did wrong and trying to improve. I feel like I’ll do a little bit better with this new perspective
Watching this trying to change my ways I die and my first reaction is to Get angry and blame everyone else can’t remember the last time I actually had fun playing something but I’m gonna work on it thank you for the video even though it was made so long ago it’s still helping people 👍👍🙏🙏
Rage effects my gameplay massively when I play seige. I get a great amount of kills in my first few games, more importantly I'm a great team player, then I drop the ball and rage bad. I get much more toxic and a lot more reckless. Then my score drops and I become a liability. Worst of all I yell when I die which disturbs my neighbours and the people around me. Trying to get my rage under control is a challenge but with enough discipline I'll do it.
I wish this channel had been around when I was younger. At 28, becoming a "pro" gamer is probably not in the cards for me, but these videos still have some good lessons to take from them.
My problem is that... you know i can't get over it like we lost the match because of me and instead of forgetting or overcoming it, I keep on remembering it and tell my self how stupid that decision was or "why did I do that?!' idk if its a bad thing or not but for me its bad, really really bad because I just keep on regretting it and end up getting disappointed at my self... and then boom tilt be coming my way.
I am actually just watching this for the first time. I used to dabble in a couple competitive matches in fighting games just to see if I was “good”. I’d play with my friends and get in heated matches but never ranked. I played DOA5 heavily in ranked but for some reason stopped but I was very good at that game eventually. I keep stopping myself from trying new games.
I have a lot of anxiety when I play online games and ESPECIALLY ranked games. It's so bad to the point where I'll load up my game and hover over the "online play" or "ranked" option so long and sometimes I'll back out and not even play....trying to work on that and push myself out of my comfort zone to play more online games has been a struggle but I try to tell myself if I keep doing it it'll get better and I wont get so anxious anymore
Good insight! Thank you for the video. Making a loss or a win an equal success definitely opened my mind. Whether I apply it the next time I play OW is a different story :P
fear of making huge mistakes is what made me stop ranked. I know that if I make a mistake either due to lack of knowledge or by autopiloting/playing while tilted then I would lose lp and waste time. I'd rather play normals, improve and learn, then go back to ranked play it chill and relaxed. Because I play fewer ranked games, I feel slightly more pressure to do well and still get anxious.
Ranked Anxiety is something I definetly have. When I played R6 Siege, I only played ranked when I was with some people that I knew. I was scared because I thought people would bash on me because my voice is high and I'm not super good.
I'm going to try this in my next csgo match. Being an awper is really hard when your teammates are random and I cant cater to people I don't know and cant cater because I don't know their skill set. Really hard which is why I'm going around my school to find people to play with and hopefully, hopefully, go pro.
I practice everyday and i’d like to say I’m good at csgo but when I hop in a comp or faceit match I feel anxious and I shiver and feel weird. So than I end up bottom fragging and not helping the team at all idk what my problem is
Getting tilted/mad is by far the thing stopping me from improving, I practice but it's just a waste of time cause I'm focus on being mad instead of fixing mistakee

My God this is exactly what I needed to hear thank you
Glad to help! :)
7:47 the dude in the back bout to get smashed by his massive comp
Thank You!
Great video bro! It explores a core idea which is essential for improving in a game and is useful for many people. Thanks for making this video and please make more in the future.
Where has this video been my whole life up until this point honestly great video thanks a lot bro keep up the good work
That "about" at the end got me. As a Minnesotan I always love that accent
Dude why aren't you RUclips famous yet? You litteraly pointed out that I'm burning out and me realise I need to change my perspective...wow much love bro 🔥🤘
we all had that moment when you had that clutch situation that your heartbeat went up, you even forgot to breathe, and when you won you got super excited but when you lost you felt terrible.
Ive noticed that the second i get frustrated i lose my capability of seeing what i do wrong. When im happy and having a great time i can tell my mistakes and what i could have done better. From my perspective, youve lost the second you let the game and enemy make you mad
That’s why it’s critical to get your mindset and frustration under control
Thanks for this video, very very empowering!!! This really helps with my gaming!
You remind me of the nerd writer but for video games and self help, I love it :)
Very unique video covering a very important topic, you're underrated man!
That's an amazing video , glad it exists thanks alot !
I accept ur challenge 🤜🏻🤛🏻 Thankx for this amazing video I learned a lot love from India ❤️
Thank you for this. I’m playing in my first local cod tournament on Friday and I’m already nervous.
dude i just discovered yr channel recently and I cant wait for you to become well-known. Good stuff, keep it up
There is one thing I do need to say - based on what game you play - the part of about trying to Learn from the Match, especially when you got Overmatched/Overrun… and by the Opposing Team REAL FAST, that’s a Big Problem too when you Don’t See Where and What Happened, then how can you Learn anything anyway? That’s why Fast Matches - I’ve Skipped any point of seeing anything.
I have a tendency to now Block those who are responsible to avoid being matched up with them again.
And also the part - Play for the Sake of Winning feels like the Main Thing, and everyone obviously plays that way. What a Paradox.
This is both very informative and inspiring! Love the content, It really means a lot! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
11:40 (book)the willing to keep win...
Its a very insightful read. Highly recommend it!
@@eathletelabs I'm reading it now. can you suggest more books please..?
Amazing video. Great advice. I find myself Swearing a lot and blaming randoms or basically just not taking ownership for what I did wrong and trying to improve. I feel like I’ll do a little bit better with this new perspective
I'm actually really anxious when playing competitive games and it's just makes me confused and not focused
im anxious when people spectate me, im afraid they will call me bad if i die or they will think im bad :(
The most heart breaking is not a relationship break up but losing a 149-150 in domination cod.
Watching this trying to change my ways I die and my first reaction is to Get angry and blame everyone else can’t remember the last time I actually had fun playing something but I’m gonna work on it thank you for the video even though it was made so long ago it’s still helping people 👍👍🙏🙏
Please keep on doing these kinds of vids. It's really freakin helpful and don't ever stop. Thank you so much
I think I've found what I was looking for. I am truly grateful. You deserve more subs and viewers.
I am having tilt right now this time I was playing call of duty and I am raging at it thanks for the help
Whether I apply it the next time I play OW is a different story :P
insane content friend. Keep it up!! you will get the viwers you deserve, soon
I love how videogames make us be better persons
Your voice is so good to listen.Your content is awesome.I watched all of your videos and liked every single one.YOU ROCK!!!!!
KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK MAN!!! VERY INFORMATIVE AND MOTIVATIONAL
This is super late but this video is still extremely useful. I needed to see this at this exact moment. Great video.
You explained it very well. Thanks dude. That was refreshing for me
im gonna watch this all over again.
Thank you for this video. I was grinding solo queue on apex legends ranked and needed this LUL
Recently found this channel, it is Great you've got some nice psychology tips
Ur videos honestly motivates me the most thank you man
I'm here after release of VALORANT. Man this video is timeless. ❤️💐
Valorant came out a year and a half ago
Wow all my life I wanted a video like this I hope you continue on making more videos like this
fear of making huge mistakes is what made me stop ranked.
Really nice to find a video on that subject that doesn't start with someone shouting
I'd probably get more views if I did though lol
@@eathletelabs Unfortunatelly, yes. Haha. Also those typical thumbnails
Props for going out of your way to find good teammates, love the attitude of taking action my friend!
You earned the sub you make great vids man thanks for helping us all understand! Work the mental! ✨
awesome videos keep em coming, dont worry they gonna blow up if you keep working hard
I practice everyday and i’d like to say I’m good at csgo but when I hop in a comp or faceit match I feel anxious and I shiver and feel weird. So than I end up bottom fragging and not helping the team at all idk what my problem is
this one really helps me a lot im not struggling to anything like sens or so whatsever i am struggling of anxiety and mentallity in games
