Fetén… mola mazo… dabuten… it seems that the Spanish of Madrid is incredibly rich in colourful expressions and phrases. This video features at least 12 these very “castizo” phrases (although see if you can spot any others dotted about) as well as seeing how locals from the Spanish capital describe their own accent. It should be all you need to sound like a Madrilenian!

PRODUCED BY:
Easy Languages is an international video project aiming at supporting people worldwide to learn languages through authentic street interviews and exposing the street culture of participating partner countries abroad. Episodes are produced in local languages and contain subtitles in both the original language and English.

Some particular or local words and expressions are marked in the subtitles with an asterisk.*
Subtitle translation: we try to translate our subtitles into English in the most literal way possible, without losing the meaning. While it may not always produce the best-sounding translation, we hope you find this helpful as it should reduce the need for a dictionary or grammar book to understand every sentence.
