the reason why he has the kryptonite ring is because superman was in poison ivy’s control and batman has to essentially snap him outta her control. batman was investigating stuff in metropolis while that was happening in the storyline.
I love the black Hush suit from the last two pack (assuming it were painted properly). It's more or less Batman's costume in so many things besides the main universe comics like New Batman Adventures, Dark Knight Returns, Young Justice, etc. I think it's definitely the most timeless batsuit if there ever was one.
Looking now that McFarlane made this figure in proper black and gray, I have it hand and say this is the best one, I love the blue too but dang this one is cool, no screaming face too
I gotta say the alex ross comic Batman has to be my Batman. Long pointy ears glossy black. Stretchy grey spandex with a big black bat. Metallic belt. The realism and detail alone is wonderful.
I love how Alex Ross kinda disproves the idea of “you have to add more detail to make it realistic”. All of his artwork keeps the integrity of the original costumes while making it look like a somewhat plausible idea to be real.
It’s a newer design but I love the 3 jokers look. They included the yellow oval symbol and had the 89 Batman boots, belt, and gloves. I think it’s a very solid look and a nice modern rendition of a classic look
I grew up with the Neal Adams Batman blue and gray Batman on merch, and in comics. I think that look was a staple of the 1980s into the 1990s. Jim Lee's style is what I think of when I think of comic book art. So Jim Lee's Hush Batman is my favorite. I lean towards black and gray for Batman. I always interpreted the blue as black. So either is fine. This figure is a great rep of Batman.
Dark Knight Returns is my favorite Batman from the comic version to the animated version with the voice work from Peter Weller. That Batman is so intimidating and bad ass and Frank Miller makes it all come together with the design.
Yeah I agree that McFarlane really needs to keep working on the sculpts because I love DC too and this Batman is definitely better despite the issues, I might get him, We shall see but great review Anthony.
My brother got my this for my birthday and man. I love this figure. The head sculpt is just perfect for me. and yes. My favorite suit is the blue and gray from Hush, second is Knightfall and then The Long Halloween. I love blue and gray Bats.
I didn't realize until the question that I don't really have a favorite mainline Batman design. I'm partial to the various DKR looks. The 3 Jokers batman is what I've got as my display one atm. Iirc in Hush, Ivy is able to control Superman so Batman pulls out a Kryptonite ring to punch him.
I really think you should take a look at the new Jada Toys street fighter figures. They have an almost perfect articulation setup, they have everything you always complained and asked for in your reviews. I'd be very interested if you'd review them!
This was one of my grail McFarlane figures. I finally got my hands on one today! Thanks for the review Anthony! I think my only complaint is lack of accessories and the height of the figure. He towers over the Hush Superman but overall very satisfying piece
Question of the day: Knightfall Batman is my favorite look, and there is one coming from McFarlane so I passed on this one for that reason. Not much difference between the 2 figures other than the chest logos (I do prefer the yellow oval) and the longer Bat ears on the cowl. Though that figure does appear to have a cut at the base of the skull for the head articulation... which is always better to me.
I saw this, but black, in the store just now. I was excited to get it. Good thing I didn't have any money on me. I would have been SO Upset with this. I don't just stand it on the shelf; I'm a poser. Thanks for having such high standards. I know if a brand/company deserves my money, you'll be happy with it. I collect GI Joe Classifieds because it's a lower price but the paint apps are usually on point and there's much more texture sculpted. But I'm always on the lookout for a reasonable addition to my Batman shrine.
My favorite version would be the Knightfall look (pre Azbat) because its that classic look with a hint of modern. I was so happy when Mcfarlane teased it and for the life of me I cant wait for them to release that figure already 🙄
Hey Anthony! I know at least two people who are going to get this fig. To answer your question, as much as I like Lee Bermejo’s Batman suit design, my favorite comic book based design is his golden age one. The long ears on the cowl and the way Kane drew the cape back in 1939 just reads more dramatic and more “bat-like” to me.
Anthony: "Question, what is your favorite Batman suit, comic wise, based on the suit only, not story arc or anything like that" Also Anthony: "My favorite is the 'Hush' suit"
the blue and gray on batman is my favorite because despite black being a more sinister look, batman with blue and gray looks just as menacing, maybe even more lol
I´m tempted to say that New 52 Batman´s suit is my favorite because that´s when I officially started reading comics and I like the gray costume. I do really like the Baby Blue and gray colors/costume...however, not in Batman. DC should create a new character and give him/her those colors. I even got the animated version variant figure just caue of that. A perfect balance between the Baby Blue and Gray colors and an apropiate color scheme for the character is the one from Hush.
My favourite Batman suit is the classic 70s/80s one with the capsules on the belt and the yellow oval round the bat symbol. But the Hush suit runs it very close, I do like that design very very much.
Favorite comic suit? 70s-80s era blue-and-gray. The lack of ab crunch on McFarlane figures is my #1 gripe. Action figures should be able to bend at the waist.
I love Batman’s hush look but I’ve never really been a fan of the trunks, I really liked the New 52 Batman suit but my all time favorite suit is Rebirth Batman
“You don’t have to worry about paint because it’s all sculpted there” (referring to his chest emblem)…oh I beg to differ, friend! He’s been a bit of a pocket fig for me lately annnnd to my surprise BLUE started showing up UNDER the black of his emblem! And upon closer inspection, would u believe that they actually sculpted the emblem in blue THEN painted it black??!! UGH!!! (That rant aside, I still actually like this more of a toy than a collector figure! And with that in mind, I’m actually enjoying him a lot more!) 😊😊😊
yeah. thats because they were using blue already and the emblem is likely in the same mold as other parts. what i meant is that there will be no bad painting or messed up edges because its a separate part.
To be fair, the blue is that sort of shade in the comics... Hush Batman is my favorite suit design. I do like the teal-like blue. It stands out in the light but blends in with the dark
I started reading the comics recently with Death in the Family and have come to know that the Batman design of that time was done by Jim Aparo. It's my favorite so far of any design I've seen in any Batman media, including Batman TAS, so my Year 2 Batman figure with a custom wired cape is my favorite figure of my entire collection, though it could still benefit from a better boot shape, and a proportions shift like the photoshops I see in these McFarlane Batman reviews.
Favorite batman suit would probably be Alex Ross design, (although Kingdom Come was cool, I prefer the classic look) but I really love the Knightfall design.
Im a big fan of Thomas Wayne Batman suit, also he has the ring cause superman was contorlled under Ivy so he had to take him down since he wouldnt listen
The return to the blue/gray suit happened (i believe) back during the no mans land arc, before that he has the grey/black and/or grey/"blueish" patern. more important than the color/design i think is the artist in this case suposed to be Jim Lee, the right artist Will make any design pop
Nick in forehead is from packaging. Heat up water in hot ass water and voila gone. My biggest gripe is the damn Tina Turner legs, other than that is a great figure, the HS is 🔥
I want to like this figure, but after handling that Gladiator Batman, I'm a bit disappointed. Not that the Gladiator Batman is perfect, but there are a lot of good things in it that sorta negates the negatives
Funny enough my favorite batman is the Blue and Grey Hush era, purely because that was the batman I grew up playing as in the ps2 Justice League Heroes game!
I'm very partial towards the Hush design as well, also Batman punched Superman with the Kryptonite ring when he was under the influence of Poison Ivy's mind control. Yes, Superman is in the story, but it's really good! lol
My favorite may be McFarlane's Year Two Batman I really like first appearance ears tho, not sure if those diagonal ears have ever appeared in a more modern iteration, if so, someone let me know!
The ring is something he carried in his belt which he used against Superman who was being controlled by Poison Ivy. Clark says he gave the ring to the right person after the ordeal.
Honestly wonder if the reason for long legs is cause they sculpt the lower legs first and make them long to incorporate the boot design... and then when it comes time for the upper leg, they shorten it to not make the leg ridiculously long The simple solution would be to sculpt the upper leg first, assuming this is the issue. Eh probably wrong but idk. Decent figure but Knightfall will be superior, I'm sure.
Serious question: Has there been a McFarlane DC fig that hasn't had at least some issues with proportions? The insanely long legs seems to be the most common thing, but there are others as well. Maybe there are ones with great proportions and it just happens to be the ones I'm interested in that are more often plagued with them.
Ah yes… I’ve been anticipating a review on this one. To answer Anthony’s question, I must say that I, too, am a huge fan of the ‘Hush’ Batman suit. Jim Lee is a bloody brilliant artist and his artwork shows sublimely in the Hush comics. Somewhat relevant, I am also a fan of the Arkham City suit. While the figure’s sculpt looks aesthetically appealing, the recurring quality control issues (i.e., paint application mishaps and colours) persists. It’s such a shame, too; McFarlane Toys does seem to miss the mark quite often, it seems. Quality control issues notwithstanding, I still dig the sculpt on this figure. Quite comfortably the best Batman head sculpt on a McFarlane figure! *Side note: I will always appreciate Anthony‘s reviews; he is such a critically in-depth and honest bloke whilst noting every detail and facet (or lack thereof) that an action figure has to offer. Bloody brilliant stuff, mate. Quality content. Take care, Giovanni Marino, M.D.
I was excited for this figure but something just doesn't feel right about this for me. Cause in the comics Hush Batman had some nice muscles this looks very lanky. From the sides it looks decent
I've purchased about 40 McFarlane figures so far and finally had to get the blue/grey Batman, a character I don't like, to complete a set. Then this Batman figure nearly towers over all the others because McFarlane can't get the scale right. Even Martian Manhunter is short beside Batman. The quality control continues to be pathetic.
This looks pretty cool but I'm really hoping the new knightfall batman is gonna be worth while. Hope they pull together for that release but these past releases like TDK Bale batman have me tempering expectations
My fav suit- blue and grey with the yellow oval with the bat. I think the yellow on his face is Mcfarlane trying to simulate Batman having a cold and sneezing all day, which he hasn't wiped off.🤣😂
Q of the Day: I like the Hush Batman costume the best, but with a much darker blue than what we’re seeing here. This looks like a Hasbro “Whoopsie, we used the wrong shade of blue. We’ll correct it for an upcoming two pack with Aunt Harriet at a MSRP of only $70.00!”
I like the rebirth suits and the one in the comics currently. Another favorite of mine is the suit from White Knight. As for this figure, it is a bit hard for me to get excited with Mcfarlane. They just feel more like statues rather than action figures.
Sorry to bother you I luv your reviews so I wanted to ask Which one is better the dark knight returns batman from build a figure wave or the blue hush batman or the 3 jokers batman I just need your rankings like 1 this 2 this .... Hopefully you will reply soon Thank you

Ah yes another dc nerd nice to meet you
"Hush Batman is my favorite Batman!"
Proceeds to know nothing about Hush Batman 🤦🏾♂️
Love that you hit on the proportion issue that McFarlane figs have!
The kryptonite ring was used on superman who was controlled by poison ivy.
I agree that Hush batman is a timeless look but I fall pretty hard for the classic blue, gray , and yellow oval and Capullo's new 52 Grey suit.
Looking now that McFarlane made this figure in proper black and gray, I have it hand and say this is the best one, I love the blue too but dang this one is cool, no screaming face too

The butterfly joint caps get in the way a lot on this figure. I just took them out and the shoulders can now sit higher and look a lot more natural
The Year One suit is my favourite, and I was super happy that they brought it back a few years back to replace the Rebirth suit.
Just retool the Speeding Bullets Batman figure, and boom! The best Batman buck ever from McFarlane
Agreed
Dark Knight Returns is my favorite Batman from the comic version to the animated version with the voice work from Peter Weller. That Batman is so intimidating and bad ass and Frank Miller makes it all come together with the design.
1:15 1970's Neal Adams Batman is the ultimate Batman for me.
Yeah I agree that McFarlane really needs to keep working on the sculpts because I love DC too and this Batman is definitely better despite the issues, I might get him, We shall see but great review Anthony.
He's fun imo. I just need to stop procrastinating on grabbing a wired cloth cape.

Paul popes year 100 batman Is my favorite
My favorite BatMan look, is the Neal Adams era...
My favorite comic suit for batman is Knightfall
The upcoming Batman Knightfall might be my favorite, unless they come out with a New 52 Batman
For the price this is one of the best Batman figures there is
Anthony: "Question, what is your favorite Batman suit, comic wise, based on the suit only, not story arc or anything like that"
Also Anthony: "My favorite is the 'Hush' suit"
He said the suit not the story line. It’s called the hush suit cause this version originated from the hush story arc.
the blue and gray on batman is my favorite because despite black being a more sinister look, batman with blue and gray looks just as menacing, maybe even more lol
New 52 "unecessary" panel lining looks great and Jim Lee is superb
Yeah tbh when drawn by Jim Lee the New 52 suits look great
McFarlane digures look SO much better than Marvel Legends ones imo man

The last Darwin's pics were CINEMA 🚬
My favorite is the bronze age era blue, grey, capsule belt, and oval logo.
I have the Hush comic in Polish. As for the figure, it looks cool. Blue suits Batman well, but black looks best.
Personally fond of the Dark Knight Returns iteration with the fat bat symbol and short ears.
Im a big fan of Thomas Wayne Batman suit, also he has the ring cause superman was contorlled under Ivy so he had to take him down since he wouldnt listen
Based on exclusively the suit my favorite Batman is The Long Halloween
Jim Lee grey and black Hush Batman
He has the kryptonite ring because he fights Superman that's been possessed by Poison Ivy while he's investigating in Metropolis.

Blue and Grey Suit Batman with the yellow and black oval bat emblem and white eyes
i like the new 52 batman suit and Hell Bat suit is my favorite.
Hey...they added a point of articulation to the card.
The green ring is a kryptonite ring because he is Batman and he is always prepared to throw down with space alien Kal-el
I really love the black and grey suit (with the black bat symbol), specially in the Dark Knight Returns masterpiece by Frank Miller.

“The Batman” was a terrible movie but I really liked the suit. Thanks for the photoshop comparison and awesome review Anthony ❤️❤️❤️
my favorite batsuit is probably the dark knight returns black and grey
