@Jason Lusk what do you mean “early”? He continued to be inspired by Ayn Rand, among others. Sorry you don’t like that. Ayn Rand’s view point definite doesn’t sync with the propensity for the adopted socialist mindset so commonly espoused these days. Have you actually ever read her books?

Yes, it’s not perfect, but every other form of societal structure is far to idealistic to ever work properly for a free people. I was 10 or 11 and I saw rush in concert in 1981. Geddy Lee playing bass, pedals, and singing at the same time forever changed my life...been a bass player ever since.
Geddy was also why I played bass. And keys. And foot pedals. At the same time. Playing Subdivisions, Tom Sawyer, YYZ, and The Spirit of Radio, there's just a rush when switching from bass to keys, and back. Great high, every time.

I'm so glad to see all the positive reactions for Tom Sawyer because... I gotta tell ya, I've been diggin' this song for soooo long. I think it's just totally awesome! I haven't grown tired of it after many, many years of listening. Rock on Rush!!
Whoever put this combination of reactions together is awesome! Thanks for this, it makes me feel so great to see all these young people discover my boys from Canada!
I can die happy now having been able to see them live… their 2nd last show (ever), Irvine, CA. Every second was perfection, the crowd was on fire, nothing will eclipse that show for me.
I was at that same show. I finally got to live a life long dream of seeing them live after almost 20 years. I was in the Air Force for half my life and I could never line up getting to a show. My wife found out they were playing at the Irvine Meadows or whatever it's called. I drove down from the Santa Barbara area and watched an amazing show. What an ama, incredible show it was.
Who is Rush? The greatest thing that ever came out of Canada! The greatest rock drummer ever (r.i.p NP) The band that sounded better live than most bands sounded on albums.
I remember hearing this song for the first time. I was a freshman in HS and it had just come out. I was a Boston, Heart, Foreigner, The Cars, The Knack fan. My friend said "Listen to this song", and it was Tom Sawyer. I liked it, but was unsure. I was dead set on "my music" being the best, so it was like letting an outsider in. But for some reason, I dropped my bias and played it again and right then decided I was a Rush fan. I couldn't deny it. Bought the album, and now I have it as top 15 or 18 albums of all-time.
I wish the guys in the band could see this! Because as a long time Rush fan, this was how I felt about this song when I first heard it back when it first came out in 1981. To whom ever made this video, hat's off to you! This was great! 😎☮️
I remember being 6 years old and not really able to fathom or process what exactly it just heard all I knew was it was amazing whatever it was. The structure of the groove of the song is exactly what it is progressive.
Rush saw a few reactions from the Lost In Vegas channel. Afterwards, Rush's label reached out to them and gave them box sets, LPs, CDs, and a bunch of other Rush merch. After oking it with their label, they gave everything away to random subscribers. Whoever runs Rush's Twitter posted one of their reactions on there a few years ago too.
Imagine being 12yrs old in 81'and buy this in the record store? Going home and playing it for the first time knowing you are listening to a a brand new classic, Their entire album collection is amazing
I love watching these young people react to this song. My Aunt bought me Moving Pictures shortly after it came out in 1981 for my 13th birthday. Neal was my biggest influence as a drummer.
Watching people react to bands and songs I love is one of my guilty pleasures, there's something really wholesome about seeing someone discover something awesome for the first time
I was a junior in high school when Moving Pictures came out, and I immediately fell in love with Tom Sawyer. It's probably my favorite song of all time. Three of the most talented musicians ever. Neil Peart for sure. What a loss!
"They haven't said a word in like a minute and a half" Love it! Glad to see this band that I grew up with and saw multiple times reaching the ears of young listeners today! Good music is timeless and this is GREAT MUSIC!
And the crazy thing is Tom Sawyer is just the tip of the iceberg. They have a 40 year rich history of awesome albums and awesome songs. For me I have been following them since 1980 and Permanent Waves. I can't image being a newbie to Rush and having all that great music to look forward to.
Geddy Lee (and Steve Harris) turned me into a bass player. Saw Rush 4 times. I remember they played their shows in surround sound. Music was all over the arena. They were even better every time I saw them. The first time I heard Tom Sawyer live I lost my mind. So good.
I’m so glad I got to see them as a teenager a year after 2112 was released. I saw them at an old RKO Theater that seated about 2 thousand. General Admission. Waited about two hours in line to get good seats and did. You could cut the smoke with a knife. Never sat down the entire time they played!
You put this together very well. I watch most of these reactors already, and it's great to see them in this format. It's really encouraging to see some younger people reacting to songs of my youth; there was so much talent and diversity of music back then, that we just took it for granted that it'd always be that way. Music today is homogenized and bland. Great video!
I love it! Seeing young generations exposed to classic ROCK! Great idea to create these Montages. Kudos to you from a Gramma that grew up with this Music. FANTASTIC JOB! Keep em coming. I especially enjoyed the Tool, Pot compilation.
Linked to this from the corporate YT. A lifetime Rush fan ... favorite band ... loved learning their guitar parts, as a kid. Could never find a drummer like that ... one of a kind. All three immensely talented players ... the drummer Neil Peart played a lot with time signatures that most don't notice changing, and he did most of the lyrics too ... Alex Lifeson was an amazing guitar player with the abstract leads and slow meditative parts ... and the singer and keyboard / Taurus pedals / bass player Geddy Lee ... amazing. They sounded like that in concert too. They were truly a band for music nerds and engineers, who made music that most everyone liked, with lyrics that made interesting points. I think that recording is at Le Studio in Quebec, Canada (where April Wine recorded, among others). Thanks!
R.I.P. Professor. This is an all-time top ten song. They are a YUGE Rabbit hole that I would welcome in. I've been here forty years and I love them more than ever...class act.
It is so exceptionally rare for a song to be at the very highest levels in execution, melody, lyrics, technicality, and composition. This song has it all.. 🤘😎
NEIL PEART’S NARRATION ON EXIT STAGE LEFT DVD: There’s a tremendous ambiance about a concert hall…to even before a band starts playing…from the time the doors open..this place feels electric you know! That’s one of the things I like most about the road that feeling of standing in the hall when the doors open feel the excitement bursting into the hall. I must admit I feel very comfortable playing live a lot! A very modern urban setting for that Tom Sawyer mentality and a very carefree stride and a very self-possessed kind of air. Xanadu: The question we tend to ask the most often is WHAT IF? I think of you had to simplify a motivation or simplify a moving force in our music that would probably…suffice! Red Barchetta: Well it seems to me a car is one of those handy metaphors and volumes have been written about the sociological and cultural impact of the car and what it represents but it also has a very fundamental sensual feel and it’s a metaphor for sexuality and freedom. We’ve certainly tried to guide everything by the principles that were interested in and the freedom of choice and the material we’ve been playing and expression of music that we found to be exciting would excite other people as well. If the songwriting is important and playing really well on stage is important it’s gonna make the difference between feeling good or not feeling good when I walk off stage feeling that I played as well as I can or as close to well as I can then I feel very satisfied and good for what you have done. YYZED: I think there is a very strong relation maybe not generally recognized between drums and between words as the rhythmic structure and phrasing and the rhythm of verse especially is very strongly rooted in the same syncopation as drums the same patterns of thinking overall work for me with words as much as they do with drum beats
RUSH is THE PERFECT EXAMPLE of the fluidity of MASTERING TIME SIGNATURES! I play drums and there are a few things that you need to know about Neil Peart’s ( pronounced PEER-T) character: First he writes the lyrics so he knows in advance what TYPE of song it’s meant to be ie ballad, driver, etc. Second he COMPOSES on the drums… like a carpenter who looks at a set of blueprints before building the object. Neil lays out a SKETCH in his mind of the VOICES of the drumset and builds the song from there. He is also a great LISTENER knowing when NOT to step over Geddy’s singing or Alex’s solos! Finally, he had perfect timing and fluidity of time changes. He said himself that it’s not about COUNTING the time signatures as much as fluid motion to change the tempo without counting: in other words it should FLOW! He hates repeating the same drum patterns in the same song meaning if he plays a fill one way the first time around he will play it differently the second time around. IE. Rolls down the toms the first time around and triplets or quads (all four limbs) the second time around. In short there will NEVER be another like him on planet earth 🌍 🌏 🌎! REST IN PEACE PROFESSOR! With heart felt admiration and sincerity! Gary

I'm so glad to see all the positive reactions for Tom Sawyer because... I gotta tell ya, I've been diggin' this song for soooo long. I think it's just totally awesome! I haven't grown tired of it after many, many years of listening. Rock on Rush!!
"Looks like an old horror lady." I can't stop laughing!😂
Whoever put this combination of reactions together is awesome! Thanks for this, it makes me feel so great to see all these young people discover my boys from Canada!
Best drummer that's ever lived. His solo videos are unbelievable.
I agree. Anyone who wants to see virtuoso summing needs to watch the recordings of YYZ.
Top five ever in my humble opinion
Every single reaction was beautiful! Rush was and still is a legendary band of intelligent artists!
While the world is going to crap, we have nine minutes and four seconds to feel completely happy and content.
Well said.
I think I'll watch that again.
That was me!
I agree 100%.
Feel the same but I 16 years older than you. Keep rocking my little bro
Me too😂
Me too
Now that put a smile on my face to see others enjoy my favorite band and really appreciate the talents of Neil, Alex and Geddy. That is joy defined.
I love watching young people discovering Rush. It reminds me of my first time hearing them and how awestruck I was with the sound and lyrics. 😊
I love watching these young people react to this song. My Aunt bought me Moving Pictures shortly after it came out in 1981 for my 13th birthday. Neal was my biggest influence as a drummer.
Masterpiece
Watching people react to bands and songs I love is one of my guilty pleasures, there's something really wholesome about seeing someone discover something awesome for the first time
Your editing is literally fantastic, Derek.
Keep it up. I'll see you at 1M subs.
Proud that they are Canadian. They are like a super group. In my top three of my favorite bands of all time. Nobody sounds like them.
Rush was my first concert when I was about 11 or 12. One of my best experiences, and still enjoyable over 40 years later.
I was a junior in high school when Moving Pictures came out, and I immediately fell in love with Tom Sawyer. It's probably my favorite song of all time. Three of the most talented musicians ever. Neil Peart for sure. What a loss!
"They haven't said a word in like a minute and a half"
Love it! Glad to see this band that I grew up with and saw multiple times reaching the ears of young listeners today!
Good music is timeless and this is GREAT MUSIC!
RIP Rush.
You've earned it.
Long live Rock N Roll.
And the crazy thing is Tom Sawyer is just the tip of the iceberg. They have a 40 year rich history of awesome albums and awesome songs. For me I have been following them since 1980 and Permanent Waves. I can't image being a newbie to Rush and having all that great music to look forward to.
I discovered them five years ago it changed My Life❤
lol started listenin to rush at first album and never stopped .......history...
Realizing that for all the excellent music they produced from 1980 onward, most of their best songs came in the 6 years previously.
Rush was one of the first bands to give me goosebumps growing up.
Reading my mind and making it work. I been thinking this was the next wave of reaction video. Well played
It was entertaining to see the different reactions that were, well, not all that different in substance but in style. :)
I went to see Rush in 2011 when they played Dublin on their Time Machine Tour, it's still one of the best gigs I've ever been to,
That was a great tour.
Remember first time I heard this , It has been rocking for over 35 years, in 200 years this song will still be ahead of it's time
Van fanning his headphones to put out the fire is beyond perfection
There is so much Rush. Big, very large, huge catalog.
The greatest 3 piece rock band in history, no contest.
Check on Triumph. It is another 3 pieces band fron Canada just like Rush
@@denislaferriere2693 yep, triumph were pretty good, not rush level good though 😊
Muse is probably the closest 2nd in my opinion.
Um ZZTop?
Muse is like a meld of Rush /Queen/ rage against the machine. ZZ Top is great, but Matt Bellamy is something else entirely.
Rush... The best thing from Canada since maple syrup.
Throw The Tragically Hip in there too...
And Moosehead Beer
And Jim Carrey hahahaha
And Letterkenny
Bret Hart
"GOT DAMN" is the most honest thing you can say about Neil Peart's drum fills in that break.
I love it! Seeing young generations exposed to classic ROCK! Great idea to create these Montages. Kudos to you from a Gramma that grew up with this Music. FANTASTIC JOB!
Keep em coming. I especially enjoyed the Tool, Pot compilation.
Great compilation, as a lifelong rush fan I appreciate it a lot
Art and music will keep us together. Love to everyone!
I ❤️ RUSH!!! I have their entire studio recordings in a playlist in chronological order. It’s my go to when I’m getting work done.
I love when people you wouldn't think would like Rush are blown away by them!
But I'm surprised no one comments about how amazing the lyrics are.
Yes! They were true artists not only in their creativity, but also their ability to hold a mirror up to the world and point things out!
People think they cannot enjoy thinks from people who do not look or act like them. I LOVE when we can enjoy things without prejudices.
It is so exceptionally rare for a song to be at the very highest levels in execution, melody, lyrics, technicality, and composition. This song has it all.. 🤘😎
NEIL PEART’S NARRATION ON EXIT STAGE LEFT DVD:
There’s a tremendous ambiance about a concert hall…to even before a band starts playing…from the time the doors open..this place feels electric you know!
YYZED:
I think there is a very strong relation maybe not generally recognized between drums and between words as the rhythmic structure and phrasing and the rhythm of verse especially is very strongly rooted in the same syncopation as drums the same patterns of thinking overall work for me with words as much as they do with drum beats
Gary
RIP Neil Peart. Best drummer ever.
I thought you were talking about the greatest rock & roll drummer of all time, John Bonham.
Or Lars Ulrich, or Phil Taylor, or Nicko McBrain, or Alex Van Halen, or Lee Rausch and, yes, equally talented, Neil Peart.
@@markuse3472 Metallica is my favorite band of all time BUT Lars is nowhere close to the greatest drummers of all time. He is really good and contributes to a lot of other things in the backround
@@cardboardtaco4503 agreed. it's honestly an insult to say that peart and ulrich are equal drummers.
Great music brings so many people together. This has been fun to watch. I love these people.
This era was a competition of peaking musicality. There were so many artists pushing the awesome limits of what music could do and make you feel
Closer to the heart is another great song!
As a Canadian, this group gets my maple syrup going. Canada produces some very good globally recognized talent and I would think Rush is our topic rock export.
I remember my first time hearing Tom Sawyer. On a turn table back in 1991.
My mind was completely blown away and it was the first time that I “got it” with music .
Wow this is awesome! It must have taken you forever to edit all of this together. You did and absolutely amazing job with this video. Thank you for putting this together I really enjoyed it.
So cool to see folks experience Rush who honestly have no idea. But I’m not really sure how that happens lol. This is arguably the best rock band of all time.
I love ya'lls reaction! Always my fave group
I have been a Rush fan since the early 80s. It makes me incredibly happy to watch other people discover how great Rush is for the first time.
Professor, even after you're gone, you keep bringing joy into the world.
I love this, and I REALLY love seeing so many younger people enjoy music from back when I was in high school. There was so much great music in the late 60's and 70's that we took it for granted. We just expected greatness from all the bands, and a lot of them delivered.
Such a wild period of music you lived thru. Very jealous
@@marcussavina2726, It was amazing. Music now days seemed to be really lacking to me, until I came across a young lady that in my opinion exhibits even more signs of greatness. She just turned 16 years old in January, and I'm amazed at every song she sings. She's from Norway, and was signed by Republic Records as their highest priority artist when she was still 14. Here is her latest TicToc video that was made into a video by a fan, ruclips.net/video/bcZZBkE1iHI/видео.html Or check out her latest cover of Adele's "Easy On Me" released by Republic Records just 12 days after Adele released her original, ruclips.net/video/Mpw5Q76hWWE/видео.html Or her latest original called "7th Heaven", ruclips.net/video/9rLiWvwzbCA/видео.html
She started gathering attention 9 years ago when she won Norway's Got Talent at 8 years old. She has over 2 billion views on Facebook and over 1 billion on RUclips. Republic Records, as part of her deal, aren't promoting her hard until after she finishes school. Twice a day I click this link below that I have saved in my favorites and watch others react to the young lady I started following about 6 years ago. ruclips.net/user/results?search_query=%E2%80%9CAngelina+jordan%E2%80%9D&sp=CAISBAgCEAE%253D
Oh, she stands about 6' 1" now, speaks Norwegian, English, Farsi, (her maternal Grandmother was Iranian) Swedish (her dad is Swedish) and some Japanese (her maternal grandfather). She plays piano, guitar, flute and violin. She has performed barefoot in public since she was 7. Here is a link why. Be sure closed captions are on. ruclips.net/video/-cCLDY0CSZ8/видео.html
In case you aren't familiar with the drummer, Neil Peart, here is a drum solo of him, Live in Frankfurt Germany. ruclips.net/video/LWRMOJQDiLU/видео.html
I love this so much!!! Anybody who digs this Rush song is alright!!!!! Such a killer crazy beat and strange diggity!! ❤️
There's a reason why this is one of my all time favorite songs of all time.
Such a joy to watch people react to music I love. A whole new experience that gave me chills!
I love seeing the reactions of all these people - especially the kids. Really digging their responses.
The stitch work on your edits - got damn excellent.
Thank you so much for making this , much respect 🙏
All Rush Fans 🤘
You deserve a lot more views and thumbs up for this collection. PRO video and sound editing. Excellent work.
Nice to see the reactions all together
I was introduced to Rush in 1981, we have been best friends ever since. When my youngest son was 9, his favourite Rush song…..
Working Man.
I would like to believe I taught him well.
The first Rush album is great. Has such a Iommi/Sabbath vibe to Alex's guitar. You taught him well for sure!
The drummer is the one who writes all the songs and got in the rock and roll hall of fame as well
Neil wrote all the lyrics. Geddy and Alex wrote the basic parts of the music, then they each expounded on their parts.
"The Professor" took a BUNCH of people to class today.
I'm subscribed to everyone you and this is by far my favorite REACTION VIDEO ❤
Rush is Art. They are so much more than just musicians. Awesome vid!
Saw them live once. Once was not enough. Three masters of magic.
I saw them nine times Charlie. Nine was still not enough. 👍
I can’t believe that all these people that are into music have never heard of RUSH! Where have they been! Under a rock! Lol
4:30 had me laughing so hard. His reaction is awesome!
