Neil Peart is one of those people that make it hard to find words to describe just how talented they are. He would turn a drum kit into an entire symphony.
Crazy fact about this solo: Neil actually stated he was frustrated with this particular solo and wanted to either use the next night’s solo, or splice them together for the DVD. That just goes to show the level to which he held himself. THIS was an “off night” to him. Meanwhile, every other drummer on the planet would kill to have a night like that! This is why I continue to love Rush even long after they retired and disbanded.
Having had the great fortune to see this show 14 times, I picked up a few misses just as I did on the letterman solo and night 2 at radio city. Until today I never mentioned it. I wasn’t aware that Neil himself wasn’t happy with this performance although I am certainly not surprised. Reading comments and watching reactions makes me realize just how fortunate of a rush fan I am.

Maybe that is why their shows began to have the intermissions in later years. But you are right, you NEVER left when Neil did his solo. The reactions everyone had showed why he was "The Professor". R.I.P. Neil.
This was probably one of the best reaction videos I have ever seen just watching how many reacted to his solo and how amazed everybody is. I was fortunate to see them 16 times R.I.P.

No matter how many times I see the Professor Neil Peart play that solo, it ALWAYS brings tears to my eyes. Just eye watering stuff. He's desperately missed. He was a percussionist first and foremost.
Neil Peart was not only One of the GOATs, but he was humble enough during the early 90s to reinvent his drum style and re-learn his craft with some Jazz greats to get to where he wanted to be in his craft. How awesome is that - especially as an example to all who followed him, young kids coming up playing drums, and Rush fans in general - to be a GOAT and still turn around and go "I'm good but I know I can get/do better" getting better - to want to continue to learn his craft when he could have just sat at his pinnacle at the time and ridden that right out to the end.
For a "old" Rush fans like me, who know already from the early 80's that Rush, all their members and especially Neil Peart, were a band and musicians so special, with so much talent, and at the top position (already) of their instrument. And at the same time, if I declare this to the people around me, I was for them, "somebody coming from the planet mars". It's sweet for me to watch reactions of these people who discover for the first time a great musician like Neil Peart. It's true, it's amazing to see a solo (with so much parts!) so accomplish (after probably 40 years of solos). Just the first section is amazing! But it's not the end , there another part, an another part, an another and another... I think this Neil Peart solo's in Frankfurt, it's to much (and dangerous) for a novice. 😉 Start with the solo's in 1975 "All the World's a stage"
PEART was a drummer that knew every sound his kit could make... instinct driven dude. born for it. when people ask who is the worlds best? you need to ask , what style to be fair... but in Mr. PEART's case, you have a talent that can land in any description to place in any style... soooo.
The first time I saw Rush, I was so excited, and then they drop THIS. You have to understand this dropped in the middle of a wicked concert, it's Rush so we are used to weird changes. EVERYONE was on their feet - I remember you couldn't even applaud because he came out with MORE. Back in the day, we didn't have access to VOD so we just had our memories and LPs. That there is video of this, and it is historic, I am so happy people can experience one of the best drummers to ever live.
Neil inspired me to play the drums, and to travel to Africa. Uncle Neil saved my life. Here is my African song, in honor of the Professor. Kilebu Neil Peart ruclips.net/video/Rs8ZlEcOucg/видео.html
The best. And even those considered to be at the top today say he was the best. Neil would tell us it was Buddy Rich but to me I’ve never seen anyone even close to Neil.
That would be me... thank you so much! I worked extra hard on this one... my partner is a drummer, and Neil is one of his drum heroes. He would have left me if I had messed this one up. 🤣😅
As a drummer for many decades I could never emulate what Neil did. He was in a league all his own. And you WonderMommaOG is also in a special league all your own as well. To encapsulate all the reaction video's into one is a masterclass on editing. Very well done and I'll be watching this over and over again in the future.
Wow, thank you for the kind words. I really do not consider myself very good at editing. I've never had any official training or experience doing it. I have been doing it periodically all for personal projects since high school (though it was slideshows with a projector back then lol) but it's definitely something I love doing provided the content I'm editing is worthwhile. Again, appreciate you for saying this, what a huge compliment.
@@WonderMommaOG You've set the bar pretty high for "not considering myself very good at editing." Please don't sell yourself short.Your video was a pleasure to watch. Very first time I've seen a split screen this well made. You're exclusive in what you want to show and do it well. I'm a "crabby" 67 year old musician and know, by now, what is a flawless representation of a subject. Don't want to be maudlin but just keep doing what you're doing. I subscribed of which I don't do often.
@@rdjraa4983 😊I really appreciate the kind words... and know what you mean about being choosy about subscribing, so that says a lot. I suppose I've probably evolved a bit and just don't really stop to think about that a lot. I did go back and watch my first few reaction compilations and ... oh boy. 😅 I've definitely polished a few things and hope to keep improving. Thank you for being here.
I’ve listened to him and Rush since I was a kid, he’s just so far beyond. It’s not just technical skill, he creates his own atmosphere and anticipation of the next part.
An additional lucky few have seen the light that Neil shined upon his fans and craft for decades. Not just a fast few years, but DECADES!! RIP dear Professor.
Reactions brought tears to my eyes!...🥲 Sometimes It's difficult to remember how much you were affected after years & years of listening; and while in your subconscious you know; THIS was an IN-YOUR-FACE reminder in a HUGE way! Watching those uploaders who are seeing for the VERY first time!.. ..It's like...Welcome to the WORLD of Rush/Neil Peart , even though he has now left it! Where have you guys been?!? But, at the same time, THAT'S the BEAUTY of it!.. R.I.P. my Brother..THIS is DEFINITIVE PROOF that YOU & your legacy will, not only reach/influence the new, but LIVE on FOREVER!!! 🤘 🤩🤘
2 things- 1) GOD GIVEN TALENT! & B) A work ethic, thousands of hours of REAL ACTUAL WORK & practice- He was taking lessons in jazz & swing in his 40s & 50s that he was open about but very few ppl actually knew! That work ethic is very seldom seen anymore in any field
Ive been listening and watching Rush since i was 11 ,i'm 55 now and there will be no one like Neil ever again.Rush are one of those bands that people will be listening to in 2, 3, 400 years from now and still be going wow how did they do that.Glad i was around to see them on many ,many occasions.
We lost Neil Peart on January 7th 2020 to brain cancer! Geddy Lee called him: THE PROFESSOR because he had a verbal and musical vocabulary that I would put against anyone including Beethoven and Albert Einstein all this from a guy who didn’t graduate high school! Not only was he the drummer-percussionist of RUSH but he also wrote the Lyrics! RIP PROFESSOR
I have to say I got very emotional as well. This man has produced and played so many wonderful "emotions" . For what he has gone thru in his life. The loss of his daughter and his wife ;to then getting cancer and passing at such a young age! May God rest your beautiful soul Neil!🥹
As a lifelong Rush fan it warms to heart to see the Professor getting the love he deserves. Of course, he would be embarrassed by it all because he was a very humble guy but we'll pour on the love anyway. Thanks to all the contributors to this compilation.

NEIL PEART’S NARRATION ON EXIT STAGE LEFT DVD: There’s a tremendous ambiance about a concert hall…to even before a band starts playing…from the time the doors open..this place feels electric you know! That’s one of the things I like most about the road that feeling of standing in the hall when the doors open feel the excitement bursting into the hall. I must admit I feel very comfortable playing live a lot! A very modern urban setting for that Tom Sawyer mentality and a very carefree stride and a very self-possessed kind of air. Xanadu: The question we tend to ask the most often is WHAT IF? I think of you had to simplify a motivation or simplify a moving force in our music that would probably…suffice! Red Barchetta: Well it seems to me a car is one of those handy metaphors and volumes have been written about the sociological and cultural impact of the car and what it represents but it also has a very fundamental sensual feel and it’s a metaphor for sexuality and freedom. We’ve certainly tried to guide everything by the principles that were interested in and the freedom of choice and the material we’ve been playing and expression of music that we found to be exciting would excite other people as well. If the songwriting is important and playing really well on stage is important it’s gonna make the difference between feeling good or not feeling good when I walk off stage feeling that I played as well as I can or as close to well as I can then I feel very satisfied and good for what you have done. YYZED: I think there is a very strong relation maybe not generally recognized between drums and between words as the rhythmic structure and phrasing and the rhythm of verse especially is very strongly rooted in the same syncopation as drums the same patterns of thinking overall work for me with words as much as they do with drum beats.
I remember Buddy Rich from his many appearances on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. I thought he was fantastic. I shared that thought with my cousin who is a very humble man. He is a musician who started playing drums and guitar after the Beatles appearance on Ed Sullivan in 1964. I went back to see him play drums at various clubs in the early 70s, with Wipeout being his standout performance. I spoke to him recently about Buddy Rich and Keith Moon. He reacted very negatively about both of them. I was very surprised. I didn’t know how to respond about Buddy Rich but I did with Keith Moon. I brought up “I Can See for Miles and Miles” that put me in sonic nirvana with Pete Townsend’s soaring guitar complementing Moon’s all out attack on his kit. I didn’t even bother to bring up “Happy Jack”. My cousin and I can talk on the phone for hours about music. I have learned not to talk about drummers. He does like Ginger Baker, go figure;)
Wow! Such a beautiful tribute to Neil. Thank you so much for taking the time to put this together. To see so many genuinely eye opening reactions to Neil's lifes work put on display in a performance that blows people's minds like this was awesome!
This hit me in the heart! Thank God I was able to see Rush live 2 or 3 times in my life. Some of the best shows I’ve ever been to in my life. There will never be anyone like Neil. This video was great, but seeing it live was on a whole different level than I have ever experienced before.
If anyone ever needs to know how to show deep and true respect to the subject matter while editing a music reaction video, they need only watch this. Truly a master class. From a die hard Rush fan; not just of the music, but of the amazing and wonderful gentlemen who comprised the band, I can only say thank you - and very, very well done.
When I heard Neil Peart drum for the first time in 1980, it changed my life, literally! I became a fan of the band, Rush, and Neil's playing, that stayed with me till today and beyond.,I learned so much from him. Glad to see this video and to see so many experiencing his talents. ✌️🔥🤗👍
RUSH: MASTERS OF TIME SIGNATURES: They don't sit down and say "Let's write in (x) time signature." They just write what they feel. Jacob's Ladder alternates between 5/4, 6/4 and 7/4, then 6/8 and 7/8. Limelight is 7/4 not 7/8. The middle of La Villa (A Lerxst in Wonderland) is in 7/8. Kid Gloves is in 5/4 for the intro and verses and 4/4 for choruses. The Trees starts in 3/4, moves into 4/4 and the solo section is 5/4.
The intro and outro music are a bit messed up/laggy and poppy. That was likely due to my computer issue. Apologies for that annoyance. I am upgrading the RAM tomorrow so this shouldn't be an issue going forward!

Before Rush Neil recorded an album with JR Flood in 1970. It has a psychedelic 60s groove. He was only 18 and you could hear his brilliance then.

Buddy Rich's family personally requested Neil for the Buddy Rich tribute concert. Check it out...very sick.
Bravo.
When you have that Rush concert ticket in hand you know your going to be treated and amazed and memorized by the greatest drummer ever.

All 4 times I had the pleasure of seeing them, I still have never seen so much air drumming in my life but a RUSH concert.
I know that feeling well. RUSH Night was always very special. What a Vibe!
Saw them 4 times in my life from 1976 to 2015. 3 hours of pure prog mastery.
I was there and will never forget this evening. RIP Professor, best live performance ever and I'm lucky enough to see Rush a few times L & R
Never get tired of seeing people's minds blown by the Professor. And dear God what an insane edit job this video must have been. :D

He also had a touch of the flu and didnt feel he was hitting it with his usual power.
I'm 60 seen RUSH four times in my youth and his drum solos was always the best
The GOAT!!! 🤘I’m so glad I got to see ya front row many times! We miss ya Neil!!! 🤘

Awesomeness Continues!!! 😎👊✊🍁🍁
RIP Neil Peart 😔🍁
Traditionally, the drum solo is the break in the concert where you run to take a leak-you NEVER did that at a Rush concert! RIP Neil!
Maybe that is why their shows began to have the intermissions in later years. But you are right, you NEVER left when Neil did his solo. The reactions everyone had showed why he was "The Professor". R.I.P. Neil.
The Greatest! Thx and peace 2u and God Bless y'all
This was probably one of the best reaction videos I have ever seen just watching how many reacted to his solo and how amazed everybody is. I was fortunate to see them 16 times R.I.P.
Indeed the world not only lost one of the greatest of the great drummers, we lost a great man. Drummer, lyricist extraordinaire, and a wonderful human being. RIP Professor 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🐐🙏🕊😢I still, and always will, shed more than one tear when I realize that we don’t have him with us anymore. We’ll always love and miss you Mr. Peart. Thank you WonderMomma OG, for sharing with us. 🙏✌️

Neil Peart was a true modern day Renaissance Man.
No matter how many times I see the Professor Neil Peart play that solo, it ALWAYS brings tears to my eyes. Just eye watering stuff. He's desperately missed. He was a percussionist first and foremost.
The young lady who wiped a tear away. Neal saw that from heaven and smiled at you.
There will never be another Neil Peart he was magical at the drum kit, he was in another place when he played the drum kit, THE BEST PERIOD!!!!!!
The PROFESSOR at the drum kit!!!!
AGAIN...HE IS YOUR FAVORITE DRUMMER'S FAVORITE DRUMMER!!!!
Tears in my eyes Always the hi-light of a Rush concert Neil RIP
OMFG! THE NAME DROP U DID IS PRICELESS! THANK YOU 😂🤣😅🤣😂🤪😡🤬😡😠💀😈🙃😉
Seen Rush Live back in day 3 times, moving pictures Tour was awesome 😎
This is why Neil was also known as "The Professor". Rest in Power Neil.... you are missed
RIP Neil, knowing you accomplished your mission. The Best drummer ever.
Incredible performance by him playing drums,. the guy was serious from the start growing up very young. He put the work in.
impressive - thank you for paying tribute for our worlds greatest - Canadian to boot - XO PEACE & GRACE to Neil PEART
Goosebumps no matter how many times I watch this. RIP Professor!!

I love all the dumbfounded looks as Neil jams away. The Master is at work students. LOVE IT!!!
The best. And even those considered to be at the top today say he was the best. Neil would tell us it was Buddy Rich but to me I’ve never seen anyone even close to Neil.
who ever put this together did an amazing job!
That would be me... thank you so much! I worked extra hard on this one... my partner is a drummer, and Neil is one of his drum heroes. He would have left me if I had messed this one up. 🤣😅
greatest drummer ever born rest in peace brother.
yes peart wrote all the lyrics for RUSH
Greatest percussionist of all time. Niel Peart is the GOAT.
Reactions brought tears to my eyes!...🥲
Sometimes It's difficult to remember how much you were affected after years & years of listening; and while in your subconscious you know; THIS was an IN-YOUR-FACE reminder in a HUGE way!
🤘 🤩🤘
Rest In Peace Rock God!! Greatest ever. Was fortunate enough to see is mastery live a few times.
He was a joy!!Rip Grand Master
GOAT!!!!!!!!🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I've seen videos from most of these reactors at some point and am a subscriber to several of them!
Phenomenal compilation!!! Neil 🙏🙏🙏
🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣👌👌👍👍✌✌ I'd seen literally seen every one of those reactors react to this, I'm kinda of a Rush freak!!! Fantastic editing, thanks!✌✌
The Goat🤘 I’m so happy that I got to see him front row a few times! 🤘
I've just binge-watched all the reaction videos! I love them!! Thank you!
Glad you like them! Thank you.
I have to say I got very emotional as well. This man has produced and played so many wonderful "emotions" . For what he has gone thru in his life. The loss of his daughter and his wife ;to then getting cancer and passing at such a young age! May God rest your beautiful soul Neil!🥹
Great video, thank you..miss him 🙏
As a lifelong Rush fan it warms to heart to see the Professor getting the love he deserves. Of course, he would be embarrassed by it all because he was a very humble guy but we'll pour on the love anyway. Thanks to all the contributors to this compilation.
Lover Peart, love the video. Well done as usual, lady. Cheers.

NEIL PEART’S NARRATION ON EXIT STAGE LEFT DVD:
There’s a tremendous ambiance about a concert hall…to even before a band starts playing…from the time the doors open..this place feels electric you know!
YYZED:
I think there is a very strong relation maybe not generally recognized between drums and between words as the rhythmic structure and phrasing and the rhythm of verse especially is very strongly rooted in the same syncopation as drums the same patterns of thinking overall work for me with words as much as they do with drum beats.
Thank you very much!
I saw Neil do this live at SPAC N.Y...... I recorded it on a full HD camera.....AWESOME
😭😊Wow, thank you so much for saying that. Nothing but respect for Professor Peart out of sheer appreciation of his craft(s).
Thanks so much for putting this together!!!!!!! Now my wife knows why I watch all these!
Your editing skills are FANTASTIC!!! editing people in on the beats? *chefs kiss* loved this
When I heard Neil Peart drum for the first time in 1980, it changed my life, literally! I became a fan of the band, Rush, and Neil's playing, that stayed with me till today and beyond.,I learned so much from him. Glad to see this video and to see so many experiencing his talents. ✌️🔥🤗👍
Thanks for doing this, I miss the hell out of him and rush.
Keep in mind, doing that solo, in the middle of a 2 1/2 Rush concert, and the type of music Rush plays! The brains on that man!
He once said "doing a solo is like running a marathon and solving equations at the same time". lol
@@WonderMommaOG yep, listen him in interviews, the dude was intelligent and witty.
RUSH: MASTERS OF TIME SIGNATURES:
They don't sit down and say "Let's write in (x) time signature." They just write what they feel.
