I’m pretty proud of this one! Making this video made me appreciate this song so much more than before. I have to mention, I didn’t find out until a couple of days ago when the creation was well underway, that someone has recently released a compilation of this. I normally try not to post songs that people have done recently but as you guys know from my poll on the community page, I’ve been planning this one for almost 2 months. I started working on it casually in April of this year. So I mean no disrespect to anyone by going ahead and releasing this one now. Big thanks, as always, to you guys… the viewers. You guys are fantastic! 💜 A few new things I heard that I never noticed before: 1. Bells or steel drums during the reggae sections 2. Ting ting ting of the triangle throughout (also the bell of a cymbal at parts) 3. Slight whispering behind a couple lines of the chorus I HIGHLY RECOMMEND: ONUKA (Ukrainian artist who I recently discovered and she is AMAZING!) “Time”: ruclips.net/video/_4Cswp7smQ0/видео.html “ZENIT”: ruclips.net/video/27J4HUj6Ko0/видео.html
Excellent job on this - can you imagine how difficult it would have been for Rush to get air play in the 1980s especially with a song that lightly criticizes radio. Their success, as they have often mentioned, is due to their very loyal fans.
Just for context, I grew up a few blocks away from Geddy Lee back in the day. This song was a direct reference to a local independent radio station that broadcast from Brampton Ontario in the '70's. CFNY 102.1 their slogan was "CFNY - The Spirit of Radio" they had no playlists. They played obscure underground music of all types. No corporate rock. The different music breaks were referencing this, as they had a Reggie DJ as well who had his own segment. Rush loved them. Peace.
They were still doing interesting things in the late 80’s early 90’s, playing rock bands that were under the radar from the UK and North America, embraced the club scene and underground rave scene in Toronto at the time. Deadly Hedley was a great DJ at the time and if he liked a song he’d give it another spin and say “ So Nice We Have to Hear it Twice” with a slight Jamaican accent and it was always a big tune if not at the time than a month later. Good times.
We had two independent radio stations where I live back in the day and they were both college radio. Two really different formats. One had regular dj’s playing a more freeform format and the other station were college students filling in for an hour or two sometimes three. We had a black and white uhf television station that played music videos at least two years before anybody ever heard of mtv. All these independent stations really broadened my sense of music appreciation and awareness. I’m really lucky to grow up back then
@yyz4761 was that Muchmusic? Or a forerunner....I could DX sometimes, clock in MuchMusic videos from CANADA all the way out in Cleveland. In the US, we had community or listener supported radio as well as college stations. The community radio were run by a board of volunteer governors, and they usually had large libraries of real vinyl, especially reggae, but also classical, to punk to old blues, and barbershop quartet. I dont know how many are still in operation now. These would be dream places to sample from like they do in today's dance music, but that technology didn't really exist back then. Commercial radio probably doesn't have vinyl libraries at all nowadays. WMMS Cleveland broke RUSH in the states after they played "Working Man" which became a gianormous hit locally.

We lost Neil Peart on January 7th 2020 to brain cancer! RUSH is THE PERFECT EXAMPLE of the fluidity of MASTERING TIME SIGNATURES! I play drums and there are a few things that you need to know about Neil Peart’s ( pronounced PEER-T) character: First he writes the lyrics so he knows in advance what TYPE of song it’s meant to be ie ballad, driver, etc. Second he COMPOSES on the drums… like a carpenter who looks at a set of blueprints before building the object. Neil lays out a SKETCH in his mind of the VOICES of the drumset and builds the song from there. He is also a great LISTENER knowing when NOT to step over Geddy’s singing or Alex’s solos! Finally, he had perfect timing and fluidity of time changes. He said himself that it’s not about COUNTING the time signatures as much as fluid motion to change the tempo without counting: in other words it should FLOW! He hates repeating the same drum patterns in the same song meaning if he plays a fill one way the first time around he will play it differently the second time around. IE. Rolls down the toms the first time around and triplets or quads (all four limbs) the second time around. In short there will NEVER be another like him on planet earth 🌍 🌏 🌎! REST IN PEACE PROFESSOR! With heart felt admiration and sincerity! Gary

Spirit of the Radio is one of my top 5 songs of all time and I revisit my obsession with it every few years. I've been amazed at how many reaction videos have been made for this song over the last year or two, when the song is over 40 years old. You put together a spectacular collection of reactions. A song that effortlessly makes me smile is (finally?) getting the recognition it deserves. Thank you for this.

The one thing they all have in common is the smiles on their faces as they listen to this great track, their look of joy as the listen to a truly great band😊

17:49 God bless these young men. I know what you are talking about. There is so much crazy rock going on that it is hard to concentrate on the lyrics even though I am a native English speaker. I get you brother and may you still rock on
The final cut came out great! All that work paid off! I like the analyses you chose to include after completion of song, especially the appreciation of the band. 😊
All of you gave an amazing and funny reactions. It gives me pleasure to see you guys love the music I grew up with. I saw Rush live at Madison Square Garden back in 82/83 and they are just as amazing live. I am 61 now and I share this music now with my grandkids and I will ask you all to do me the same favor. Keep this great music alive I am counting on you to carry the torch😎✌🏻
Pretty simple : you get in your car in the morning and turn on the radio, looking for your jam, you turn the different channels searching for a song to make you happy.
One of the best video compilations EVER! I've loved that song since it came out 43 years ago. To see so may different people loving it for the first time made my heart full. RUSH can bring the world together! Well done, WonderMommaOG!!! We are all human. World peace through RUSH!
I've often wondered what it is that makes reaction videos so entertaining. To answer, at least for myself, it is twofold: (a) first, it is about watching people experience the joy I had when I first discovered Rush and their greatness; and (b) second, it is about sharing what I've since learned since and helping them along in their future discoveries. What a tremendous tribute to the most beloved and, at once, underrated, band in history and one of their many great compositions! Thank you for this masterwork - about a masterwork!
We did not dissect the music. We just heard it and loved it. Our radio stations would play this and Earth Wind And Fire and we never ever distinguished. We just loved listening to music.
One of my favorites from RUSH. it's great to see such a diversity of people rockin out to this song. It goes to show the power of music . Great job on the video by the. OOOORIGHT ✌☮ 👍👍
Another win, Momma! Back to back, Spirit of Radio is my all time Rush favorite song! Thanks for bring us awesome reactions and keep up your good work! Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷
Simply Incredible Mash Up..What’s intrigued me about reaction videos. Is to realize they’ve never heard these songs before. And thanks to you, I’ve gotten turned on to so many other reactors channels. So your not only blowing me away. But opening new doors for me to discover so many younger people getting turned on. To the music of my Life. Thank You So Much, I Appreciate you and all your hard work. ❤️🙏💜
I was lucky enough to see Rush open their tour supporting the Permanent Waves album featuring Spirit of the Radio in January of 1980. I can still remember looking at the immense drum kit lit up in the dim arena just before the band opened with 2112.🤯
Your videos are flawless. Other compilations don't even come close. The time and effort you put into these is obvious. I loved "The making of" section.
Love this! As a Rush fan who jumped on when moving pictures was new.... you nailed it and had some of my fav reactors. I also appreciate the sound quality and the fact that you didn't interrupt the master shot. Love also how you took the animation suggestion. Great work
I adore when ppl hear my favorite band & of course the GREATEST band of all time RUSH. I flipped over the Holy Trinity of rock from day one in June of 74 at 14 years old & playing Bass three years at the time. I'm 62 going on 63 & I've never put it down. To this day I'm still rocking out on stage in local bands & I must admit, Rush was the ONLY BAND EVERY ALBUM made me run home when I got they're new album at the time & grab my bass & want to learn not only every song they recorded but learn theroy time signitures rudements, the whole bass & music shabangabang. The greatest music teachers I ever had & they never knew what they did to that 14 year old kid back then ha ha.
I love how Ged's signal to the audience to clap is, well, how it is, ha...especially the way everyone is perplexed by it. Thanks for the hard work and featuring Rush! Pro quality vid!
Also if ya dig and enjoyed this video by Rush and so amazing and loved yalls feedback which is always fun 😀 you may also enjoy the song " Most of All " By Glenn Kaiser and Where Roses Grow Live by Rez Band Awesome songs check them out. Also I remember hearing the song by Led Zepp " In My Time of Dyin " during my drug years and made me think about death and Jesus. Then a hippy friend that dug Jesus told me more of Jesus love and forgiveness and how I could also know Jesus love. So in 1981 I cried out to Jesus and wow man He came into my life and I had and have so much joy and peace and now know that through Jesus when I die I will be with Him in Heaven. Hey Jesus loves each of you also and yall can know Him if you are at all open. Just cry out to Him and a good question to ask yourself if you were to die today would you go to heaven ? And if yes why ? To find out more please read the Gospel of John in the Bible or check out the movie on RUclips. 😀
Absolute Fire Ms. Wonder! Another masterpiece! It’s crazy to think that during the mid 80’s I actually got a little tired of listening to Rush, they were everywhere, selling out stadiums for decades, however, seeing all these reactors react to songs for the first time makes me love all these songs even more than I did before! I know it’s a lot of work to put these together, but I (we) are grateful, and I (we) hope you never stop! Thank you Ms. Wonder!
This video is just absolutely amazing. I have been a huge rush fan for many years. Thank you for all your work on this content!!! Love watching people discover and react to Rush for the first time. Keep it up!
I watched this twice yesterday and I can’t get over how brilliant your editing skills are. Thank you for doing these. I know they’re time consuming and your finished products are always appreciated. I look forward to your next project.
One of the most indelible images I have of seeing Rush in concert is everyone, and I mean everyone, jumping up and down and clapping to the bass drum during the chorus. I was so lucky to get to see the Professor live.
Three dudes. I recall Rush on the old Rockline radio show in the mid-90s. After being congratulated by fans on their new album (Counterparts, maybe?), Geddy Lee said, "Thank you very much. Now we need to learn how to play it live."
This came out near the end of 5th grade. I was going through puberty and it was harsh year on me because I was the 1st boy in my grade to deal with it... at least I think I was. Also pretty sure that this song saved me. I recall distinctly playing it in my head in one of the classrooms near the end of the year and just feeling an unmistakable and remarkable feeling of uphoria and calmness... maybe because the lyrics talked of the struggle and the joy of something so wonderful as radio - and I loved the radio so much - and I understood that something so great is sometimes not easy to deal with... and so is life... so everytime I hear this song I get the same feeling of uphoria... 😄and then just a little bit of melancholy..🥺 So effing good. To this very day.

One of my all time favorites. Nothing is better than watching it blow someone's mind for the first time. Watching it blow 20 people's minds for the first time? Chef's kiss. You got me subbed for life. I especially like how you show at the end now how you put these together. Mad skill picking those timestamps and lining it all up. Highest respect!

Still hard to believe, after all these years- that three talented musicians could make such an enormous and wonderful impact so large. This is the first track I remember hearing from Rush in the US as a kid. All time favorite band.
I’ve been into Rush for a very long time. From the first listen way back I knew they were special, the more I listen as time goes on they get better and better because I find new things to pick up on. It’s so good to see people finding out what it’s all about! Enjoy😊

This was the opening song for their shows for years. They just dove right in baby. God those shows were astonishing. You left physically spent every single time. They ring every ounce of energy out of you.

A song that effortlessly makes me smile is (finally?) getting the recognition it deserves. Thank you for this.
Alex Lifeson: RUSH guitarist and Guru Extraordinaire! The HEART ❤️ AND SOUL OF RUSH! THE FUNNIEST MAN ON THE PLANET AND GREATEST SPEECH GIVER OF ALL TIME!!! ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME: BLAH…BLAH…BLAH! HATS 🎩 OFF TO ALEX LIFESON 😎😎😎👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎸🎸🎸
I’ve never heard these little outroes before, I think they’re brilliant. I really enjoy this channel. What a gem. Highly enjoyable!
I'm so glad you're enjoying the content. That's all I could ask for. Thank you for being here.
Still here, still having a good time!😊
The one thing they all have in common is the smiles on their faces as they listen to this great track, their look of joy as the listen to a truly great band😊
Thanks to you our technical maestro!! I’m 58 and seeing the next generation jam is so awesome!
That Aladdin magic carpet ride edit is brilliant!
Thanks yet again, Momma!
Yesss! Hilarious.
So good, utterly perfect. Way to go OG Mama, that’s how you do it. A+++
Geddy Lee - Bass guitars, Oberheim polyphonic; OB-X; Mini-Moog; and Taurus pedal Synthesizers, vocals
Alex Lifeson - Six and twelve string electric and acoustic guitars, Taurus Pedals
Neil Peart - Drums kit, timbales, gong bass drums, orchestra bells, glockenspiel, wind chimes, bell tree, tubular bells, crotales, cowbells, plywood, wood blocks, triangles, tympani, and Gong!
Greatest band of all time. Untouchable.

The "Magic Carpet Ride."
That just works.
Phenomenal.
So happy now that my junior high and high school years were late 70's and early 80's. So many awesome bands that have stood the test of time.
This is my essay to people who may not know RUSH or who Neil was professionally and his contributions to the art of drumming and lyrical writing! Enjoy!

Hey, Elizabeth. Awesome job huh? Glad we were there when it was being made.:))
Good job on RUSH compilation Wonder Momma
All of you gave an amazing and funny reactions. It gives me pleasure to see you guys love the music I grew up with. I saw Rush live at Madison Square Garden back in 82/83 and they are just as amazing live. I am 61 now and I share this music now with my grandkids and I will ask you all to do me the same favor. Keep this great music alive I am counting on you to carry the torch😎✌🏻
Pretty simple : you get in your car in the morning and turn on the radio, looking for your jam, you turn the different channels searching for a song to make you happy.
Glittering prizes and endless compromises Shatter the illusion Of integrity! Wow! Neil PEART rights all songs The Professor 👍
One of the best video compilations EVER! I've loved that song since it came out 43 years ago. To see so may different people loving it for the first time made my heart full. RUSH can bring the world together! Well done, WonderMommaOG!!! We are all human. World peace through RUSH!
Thank you so much!
See human, be human. What a great intro to such a profound song
RIP Professor. And thanks to the band for all the years of great music.
When I listen to RUSH ....So do my neighbors 👍💯...... greatest live band ever
Rush isn't just a band. They were 3 world class musicians who inspired and loved their fans. By the way, the Aladdin clip was awesome.
Thank you so much! Excellent song selection
I love the ending of this video and everything in between
We did not dissect the music. We just heard it and loved it. Our radio stations would play this and Earth Wind And Fire and we never ever distinguished. We just loved listening to music.
Canada 🇨🇦 Proud. Fantastic editing, great job. Just scratching the surface of Rush with this song.
Man, yall are making me tear up a little. ❤ so glad to see my favorite band's music will live on.
Thanks for the carpet ride!! I’ve heard TSOR thousands of times, but never saw Aladdin in my head. Love it
I’ve been rocking on this for 40 years, glad to see a new group appreciating their artistry.
One of my favorites from RUSH. it's great to see such a diversity of people rockin out to this song. It goes to show the power of music . Great job on the video by the. OOOORIGHT ✌☮ 👍👍
Everybody loves this song. Your editing skills make that VERY CLEAR. 💥💥💥👍 You make the music BETTER,,,,,in YOUR way. 👍👍👍🤪
😊 Thank you!
The Caribbean outro was most excellent.
Whoo! Man that pumped me up. Made my evening, once again thank you Wondermamma.
Thank you Blair! 💪🏽
Another win, Momma! Back to back, Spirit of Radio is my all time Rush favorite song! Thanks for bring us awesome reactions and keep up your good work! Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷
Thanks for all the work you put into your videos. They are fantastic.
I can still remember looking at the immense drum kit lit up in the dim arena just before the band opened with 2112.🤯
Awesome! I saw the same tour at the Capital Center in DC. Vague, fuzzy, warm, smoky memories. :-)
Your videos are flawless. Other compilations don't even come close. The time and effort you put into these is obvious. I loved "The making of" section.
The “making of” portion is the bomb. I’ve never heard any of these versions before and they are all very good
I've never actually listened to this song before? But now I'm loving it so much 💖. Playlist!!!!🎧💯❤️
Love your videos. Thank you
I was so lucky to grow up in the 80’s. Such a wide variety of great music put out.
Thanks for putting this together. You make me want to go back and give their catalogue a listen to :)
Worth the wait!!! And omg the Aladdin!
Ty Momma! I'm sharing this everywhere
I'm so relieved people are liking the Aladdin bit. I was nervous about it. lol Thank you so much.
I love how Ged's signal to the audience to clap is, well, how it is, ha...especially the way everyone is perplexed by it. Thanks for the hard work and featuring Rush! Pro quality vid!
He was preserving his hands for playing. You can’t clap your hands every night on tour! 😆
How crazy. I've followed Rush since around 1978 and had no idea why Geddy was doing the hand thing!!!
Everyone listening to that song finally has a happy smile on their face. Rush bring the world together!
I bet Al and Ged would get a genuine kick out of seeing this...beer's in hand of course!
Congratulations!!! Great Edition, it looks like it took a long time, but it was worth it!! 👍👍
Alot like other Rush fans, so much happiness seeing a new generation finding the joy in this band. Much more left to explore🤘👽
Absolute Truth about RUSH❤❤😊
I HADTHE BEST HIGH SCHOOL YEARS EVER!!!!!❤
Bravo what a choice 66 year old love seeing the reactions to the younger generation so makes me smile thank yiu
Wonder!
💜💜💜😊
This video is just absolutely amazing. I have been a huge rush fan for many years. Thank you for all your work on this content!!! Love watching people discover and react to Rush for the first time. Keep it up!
I watched this twice yesterday and I can’t get over how brilliant your editing skills are. Thank you for doing these. I know they’re time consuming and your finished products are always appreciated. I look forward to your next project.
Much appreciated, Jim.
I subscribed. The best reaction compilation I've seen to date. Don't blame you for feeling proud, you should be. Well done!
Thank you. Glad to have you, welcome!
What a lot of people don't realize that it is only 3 GUYS making this music. TOTALLY AMAZING
😄and then just a little bit of melancholy..🥺
So effing good. To this very day.
Excellent reaction video as usual. RUSH RULES THE AIRWAVES! Rush has to be required listening 🤟🏼
Still get goose bumps 40 years later!
I loved this. Such a great reminder that editors create too.
Yes! Thank you!

Awesome job WMOG!!! It was definitely worth the wait. Got my day off to a fantastic start. Can't wait for the next one. 🤩 🎶🥁🎸
Yay! Thank you!
I saw Rush in concert the last five times they came to Tampa. This is a great band. They sound just as good on their fortieth anniversary tour
Nothing like a feel good song to wake up in the morning 😉😀😆😁😎
Great job WMOG, the reactions were great, some new Rush fans. I'm proud of the job you did, it works for sure. Talk to you later on 🙂😃🤪
One of my all time favorites. Nothing is better than watching it blow someone's mind for the first time. Watching it blow 20 people's minds for the first time? Chef's kiss. You got me subbed for life. I especially like how you show at the end now how you put these together. Mad skill picking those timestamps and lining it all up. Highest respect!
wow... thank you so much. Happy to have you, welcome! 💜
Saw them live early 90's Las Vegas NV, amazing!!
My favorite song by my favorite band. Amazing edit on the video as usual. I loved it.❣
Your editing skills are chef’s kiss🤌🏽 I feel the feelings the people are feeling while watching. It’s special. Thank you for your hard work and gift. ❤
Enjoy😊

A great video showing how the magic of Rush can affect people. Wonderful!
This was the opening song for their shows for years. They just dove right in baby. God those shows were astonishing. You left physically spent every single time. They ring every ounce of energy out of you.
