***There is a typo at 08:16 in the pros and cons section. Just to be clear as I did show in the video the RAM, SSD and Wifi are all user upgradeable. Sorry about the editing error and confusion that may have caused.
I’m currently looking at this laptop as a developer machine. The processor, 32GB RAM and 1TB drive are just perfect. The GPU is a bonus for this price range.
I just got mine a few days ago. It was between this and the zephyrus g15 for me but this cost me 100€ more than the zephyrus but it had a 3070 (vs a 3060 on th zephyrus) and a 1tb nvme ssd (vs a 512gb on the zephyrus). I also like the screen more. It is thicker and heavier but that was the only thing i prefered on the zephyrus. Also the up to 140w 3070 bs the 85w 3060 puts it into a completely different performance bracket when it comes to gaming. I am very happy with it so far.
I bought as very similar Lenovo Legion to this, the 82JU002YUK model is non-pro so the screen, although beautiful is a little dimmer, and the hdd is 512gb as oppose to 1TB, however for the same price point as the pro it comes with a 3070 (vs, 3060 in pro) and 16gb ram (vs. 8gb in pro). my thinking was that I don't really use my laptop in bright environments and I do plan on getting a a proper external monitor so the screen on the laptop probably won't get much use in the long run. I also thought the 3070 was a slightly better option as it is a part I can't replace in the long run. I feel either waty you are getting a really awesome machine with great build quality and decent design, It's just nice to have a Laptop with decent graphics capabilities that is styled, but not over the top gaming aesthetics.
So true. Just ordered it after I initially wanted the rog strix g17. I was still researching when I saw in a video it doesn't have a camera, which wasn't written anywhere and I thought it's because it's mandatory in laptops. Lucky I waited, and eventually went with this, which all around offers me better specs for my use, hope everything goes well with it.
I like how you did the benchmark section. Sometimes it feels like reviews are splitting hairs over benchmarks, or give undo focus on them. You provided them for the people who care, and gave everyone else an idea about how it might perform in their favorite game. The format was nice too. Looking at endless bar graphs isn't my favorite thing, so this was refreshing. Thanks! Also not crazy impressed with the webcam image. But the audio sounded pretty good. And it's probably still better than the garbage webcam on the old ThinkPad I'm currently rocking. Still kind of disappointing my smartphone has a better front facing camera than any laptop webcam I've ever used.
Thank you. Your videos are very good. Regarding the 5 Pro: I'm not a gamer, I'm a designer and need a powerful gaming laptop to run my CAD software. I picked up the Legion 5 Gen 6 with pretty much the same specs. I liked the Pro's 16:10 display but can't get past the "gamery" looks of the laptop. Especially the Y logo. The huge power brick comes with both laptops...hoping I can order a 230 watt brick to use instead. That think is huge!
I’m a designer too and I’m returning my legion 5 pro for the ideapad 5 pro for the reasons you listed lol, portability, bulkiness, and short battery life!
Just a little sidenote - @3:35 you're saying WIFI is upgradable, yet in the summary @8:30 it says Wifi and RAM is not upgradeable. Based on other videos I've seen it seems that both Wifi and memory are upgradable.
Hard to figure out the decisions these manufacturers make -- as mentioned, why leave out a microSD slot when this otherewise comprehensive port selection includes so much. Same with some other laptops -- leaving out a webcam. When will we finally get an all-round machine that leaves none of these out?

The only review of this I’ve found that includes video/audio quality of the integrated camera and mic array 👌 I find it perfectly acceptable for the price overall.
For purchase, what indicates during the purchase that you wish to buy this instead of the old one which has running under the same name like this pro5? What prices we can expect? Hopefully wont reach 2000 eur. To be honest if this would cost 1800++ then the only problem could be the availability. Thanks for the vid.
Video was ok , but the audio was excellent, wish I could find this unit? Do you like the Eluktronics similar model, RP has the SD card reader, US support and far cheaper than this Lenovo?
I just have two questions: 1. How portable is it. I am a college student who travels frequently(hostel to college to library almost every day) so from that perspective is it too heavy or too big to carry on bag. Also is it loud (I use my laptop for taking notes and programming in college) so is typing too loud or maybe it's fan noise. 2. Can it run for 6-7 hours in single charge. I don't want to carry that big charger and in college my usage is very low as I only use it to browse internet or take notes so considering that will it last for 6-7 hours on full charge.
i have a legion 5 pros and i get way better scores with it. My timespy scores are above 11k. i am shocked in how such low scores are possible with the 3070s.
Yeah, no biometric security is a bit of a bummer, but you can easily add a FIDO USB key, and at least it does have a webcam unlike the AMD based Asus zephyrus.
Nice gaming PC. Mediocre webcam (720p). Mic sounded okay. Keyboard layout is good although the number pad keys are smaller and closer together which will hamper some people when doing numeric input. As far as touchpad not centered when one uses this unit for a while they probably get use to it and will not mind it at all. Like the easy ability opening this unit and upgradeability of the components. This PC uses a lot of power to run for gaming speeds. I bet the 300 watt power brick gets warm to hot under load. If it does then you know this unit uses a lot of power. Excellent unit for gaming and running other power tasks. On another note I see Costco will be selling the Mac Mini you reviewed about a month ago for $599.99 from May 19 2021 to June 13th 2021 if anyone is interested. As always another excellent review.

Strix has better battery life, higher screen refresh rate, better portability, better keyboard and trackpad, slightly faster processor, better speakers. I'm traveling to work quite a lot, and the portability and battery life means a bit, but the webcamera also does. I do both editing and gaming, so the Strix will be better for rendering, and the Legion will be better for gaming.
