I will make this same comment until someone actually adress this issue: 16:10 aspect ratio screens are *not good for gaming* . Why ? Because to achieve more vertical pixels the big majority of games have to rescale the image using a zoom in (older games even stretching). This means, not only LESS horizontal view, but actually LESS vertical view! I know it may seems strange, but this is a real problem you have to count in when buying this Legion/Lenovo laptops. There are some games that actually benefit from a 16:10 aspect ration (first come to mind is Ghost Recon Wildlands) but the vast majority of games have been designed to "work" better on a 16:9 aspect ratio screens. Pls, don't let this comment pass, be *aware* about this problem; don't waste your money or be ready to cope with some strange "crammed" images in game...or eventually black bars on top and bottom of your screen. Lenovo did not goofed on this one, they simply HAD to find more room for thermals, and the vertical space of a 16:10 screen gave them the edge they needed to justify a bigger chassis. *And NO, changing the FoV will not save your experience!* en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field_of_view_in_video_games

I've had the same laptop for over a month now. Been looking at Windows laptops since 2016 and I finally switched back from MacOS with this one. After 20 years on the Mac and especially the last 4 years it feels so nice to have a laptop that actually is built for performance without looking or feeling like it's a toy. Great laptop with amazing performance. In my opinion the 3060 does wonders due to the fact that the cooling was designed with the 3070 in mind. Only downside is 6 vs 8 GB vRAM. But hey, you can't have everything :)

@MeMarzani I got the 1080 300hz, Ryzen 7 5800H, RTX 3080 (8 GB VRAM) model; the higher tier models were sold out, and I got the last unit, as after I bought mine, the ASUS store said "sold out". I really love this laptop. The speakers are better than the Zepyhrus G15 due to my Zephyrus G15 unit (which was returned) having the speaker popping issues. That and the lack of more than 16 GB without synchronized dual-channel speeds (big for Intel but HUGE for Ryzen) made me return it. I'm not paying that much money for a white Zephyrus G15 with 32 GB of RAM but with the same speaker issues and the *awful* keyboard backlight on the white model. Somehow, my Scar G15 has over 10 hours of battery life while the dGPU is disabled on battery power and the screen is set to 60 hz. That's more than my 7 - 8 hours on my 1440p Zephyrus G15 with the same 60 hz refrsh rate and dGPU disabled in that laptop (but with the QHD screen) before I returned it. The trackpad is great, and the mechanical keyboard is above average too. I would have liked one more USB port or an SD card slot on the right next to the keystone and I would have *REALLY* liked a MUX switch or for all display outs, including the HDMI and USB-C port to go directly to the dGPU, but I guess you can't have everything on a laptop. Overall, this is by far the best laptop I've *EVER* owned. I was worried about the keyboard after watching Dave2D's review, but I think he just is biased against mechanical keyboards on laptops, and the ones he likes are the ones I think are bad or otherwise are on bad laptops. For example, he said the Alienware m15 R4 Intel version in his review had a good keyboard, but he didn't even review the rest of the laptop, which I hate. But back to the ASUS ROG Scar Strix G15, I've had zero issues with my unit since I got it, and I cannot recommend it enough!
looks like i will keep my max 17, really wish all light gaming notebooks had mux and usbc charging. this is the best place for info on new notebooks. thanks
I know you didn't get the Stingray colour, but I'm concerned that the contrast of the keyboard on it with that light blue LED shining through would make it difficult to read the keys. Do you have any experience of it first hand?
I have Legion 5 Pro 4600h for a few weeks now and it is an impresive machine, once you overcome some nuisances caused by bad drivers, it runs smoothly. The most annoying thing is the coil whine, heat exhaust on the side that heats your hand with a mouse (seriously Lenovo, what the hell... gaming laptop with exhaust on the side in 2021?!) and the charger brick, which is HUGE...
Nice video as always sir 😊:) one thing I hate is that bottom for exhaust I would love to see exhaust on side and back of the laptop.most people uses laptop on laps

@@cameronbosch1213 but it doesnt have a mux switch does it? i would like to get it but if theres no mux then i wont.
The FPS seems to lower because of QHD resoultion, isnt it?
looks like i will keep my max 17, really wish all light gaming notebooks had mux and usbc charging. this is the best place for info on new notebooks. thanks
Thanks, appreciate it! I agree 100% , I love having a mux :)
Yeah, the brick is still huge. Its slim but its rather large. I have no coil whine on this one though :)
Great unboxing video.
Do you have news about the sting ray white version?
Thanks! I don't unfortunately , apart from Dave2D seemingly has one
a Legion now rare item. must preorder for 3 month
Nice video as always sir 😊:) one thing I hate is that bottom for exhaust I would love to see exhaust on side and back of the laptop.most people uses laptop on laps
Thanks. The bottom is air intake with air exhausts at the sides and back.
Oh okay thank Stephen
Nice. Knowing my one of my
most trusted guys is reviewing this 😁
Thanks mate!
Wonder how this does against the Asus TUF A-15 (5800H/3060). Also are they both standard 3060s or Max-Qs?
The A15 is rated at 90+5 whereas this one is 130/115 so this one will have massively more performance than the A15
Watching this on my 3070 Legion 5 Pro, can't be happier that I got one
how much battery life are you getting?
@@Divyesh_Sinha not sure, have not tested it yet
@@Divyesh_Sinha I plugged in all the time
Super cool laptop :)
Got this to run warzone on it, very happy customer 👌
What's the background music? I feel like I'm in a mystical forest looking for supplies that a quest requires
Lol, I got it off Epidemic sound.
😆
Hi! what is your opinion about Alienware M15 R5. Thanks for review this laptops. Nice video😊
Where can I find the 3070 version of this in the UK? I've looked everywhere, nowhere to be sold, or even the 3060 version.
great content as always!
Finally, lets goooooo.
Hi, Stephen. I'm glad you have it so soon. I can't wait for livestream.
EDIT: Mine keyboard is fine, it's a problem of your unit, sadly. :(
Hi Marek! Yes, I'm glad I finally got it. Shame about that 3 key. Its ok if I hit it centrally or on the right. Strange...
@Lazy Lajdak no, this doesn't. Usually there is an option to turn that off somewhere
Sorry, I was thinking you meant the screen for sme reason, like the Helios 300 boot up. The keyboard does do an annoying wave when it boots
did you upgrade your camera setup ? Yhe new background is much better in my opinion. thanks for the review
Thanks! Yes, I have a total new set up. My old location is now where I do my testing :) Glad you like it!
