Ghosts were my favorite from The Room. The back stories to each ghosts and their deaths/executions were insane. I was only in 8th grade when I first played this game I’m 31 yrs old now. A classic.
Of course you put the ghosts in there! They're the creepiest enemies! You can't fight against them save for rare bullets and a single sword that keeps them pinned down, they follow you throughout the game, they get into your safe space, they're so violating. I truly believe some games need more enemies like those, a small group of enemies that you can't stop no matter what you do.
No real surprise that Scarlet was saved for last. Just got done watching Annabelle. Done right, dolls redefine Creepy. Scarlet ABSOLUTELY breaks the mold.
They are totally different concepts. Anabelle is a doll with a demon attached to it, without the demon really being inside. That's why the doll never moves by its own, like Chucky would. It's the demon holding it and putting the doll in different places from the outside. So, Anabelle is just a tool the demon has to get to the actual persons. You can't really compare Anabelle and the Scarlett monster from a Silent Hill game.
I unfortunately was way too creeped out to get very far in it plus I couldn't figure out how to progress further in the subway area...and now it's just a lost gem that I can't play unless I get an emulator and play it on PC...But, SH4 really had that true authentic Japanese horror theme and vibe to it that the other ones I personally felt just didn't have... Dont get me wrong, the other ones were creepy as shit and very disturbing as well but not in the same way as SH4.
Homecoming has some great creature designs but plays too much like an action game. 2 and 3 remain my favorite. 2 has a deep sadness to it, the other world more reflective of depression. In 3, it is more hellish and traumatizing - truly visceral. Both work well in their own way.
Cynthia's Ghost from SH4 is scary,she is very fast,tries to catch you with her hair and tries to kill you by trying to grab your heart,no to mention she has some little easter eggs about her last moments like,the reversed crying,screaming and so. her promotional artwork was nightmare fuel.

The scene where the protagonists stops the guy from beating the screamer…is so unfortunate…on so many levels.
Most peeps here don't know this classic and it's a shame.

We have good horror games these days too: Until Dawn, Outlast, Re2 remake, even Bloodborne

I've been a resi fan for years but now I'm buying the silent hill downpour, HD collection and homecoming, its pretty good series

I played this video with the track "Resting Comfortably" from Silent Hill 4 on repeat throughout, felt like it gave it a nice touch. Good vid man
