It worked! I had a streak right down the center of my page vertically on every page I scanned. Followed these instructions and it now is perfect, no streak! Thank you!
You instructions are on point. Please do not change anything on your RUclips video. Not everyone is computer or equipment knowledgeable and they need to see every step. I was able to clean my printer in one step by doing everything you instructed in this video. So, I don't know what was causing the lines and I fixed the problem in my first go around. However, not every viewer will do this. I recommend to do all you instructed in one step and if it still does not work then you need to service your printer. This will save you time especially, if you are an impatience person and want to shorten the amount of time to resolve the issue at hand. Thank you again for your excellent video. Greatly appreciated! I almost gave up trying to get the streak from my HP printer when using the ADF, this video was extremely helpful to a novice who have no tech skills to do this. Thank God I persevered and got it! I was about to return the printer to Costco tomorrow..

Thank you so much. I was told by a epson tech to send it in to the company to be repaired. I followed your advice which made a lot of sense. A simple cleanse on the rollers did the trick. Thanks again !
+Stanley Watts Glad to know that the video has helped you fix the issue. However, steps mentioned under the video are tested on HP printers. We would not be able to comment whether it would work on other brands every time.
Awesome video! I wasted close to an hour trying to get in touch with HP support only to get transferred to some other department. Thank you for making it.
Thanks! My husband usually takes care of stuff like this but he was not around to fix this time. I'm so proud I was able to do myself with this tutorial.
THANK YOU!! This was driving me nuts! I have an HP OfficeJet 4650 and Step 2 fixed my issue. As soon as I used the flashlight, I saw the problem. Never would have thought of that!
The strikes on my prints was driving me nut, found this video and i was able to resolve the issue with the third repair option. I AM very happy now ! Thanks a lot HP!!!
Thank you HP, you saved my sanity!!!!! I've had this printer for about 5 years now and this is the only real issue that I've had with it. Fixed it on the first try.
THANK YOU!!!! I have spent an hour trying everything I could think of and just by following these few simple steps, it is back scanning perfectly!! My printer was working properly but all of a sudden in the process of scanning many documents, it would scan but the font was so light, it basically looked like a blank page. There were no streaks or lines just basically a blank page. THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!!!!
Yes!!!!! The part about the flashlight did the trick. I had cleaned the scanner glass with a "e-Wipe", but that was not good enough. When I shined the flashlight, I saw the spot, used an eyeglass cleaning cloth along with eyeglass cleaner, and got the stubborn buildup of print carbon (or whatever that stuff is). It now works perfect!. I got rid of my last scanner for this problem!
Thank you so much. It worked on the first try! I was about to dismantle in an attempt to clean the rollers because I had streaks and lines galore. You saved me HP one Kenobi!
Thank you so much for creating your very helpful RUclips. Your step-by-step instructions, both audio and visual, were easy to follow. I was able to fix the vertical streaks in your Step 2 instructions. My scanned documents and photo copies no longer have streaks.
Excellent Video. Kept getting lines on top loader (ADR). Didn't know what ADR was or how to fix but this step by step showed me how and the lines are gone. Thanks for posting!

Yes, it worked. I have been with his problem for two weeks. I did exactly what you suggested it it worked on my two HP all-in-one. Amazing one can get angry for something can be solved over the internet. Thanks.
Thank you - this video showed me exactly what I needed to do and after trying all kinds of other things, this worked - clean your glass surface and you will not have streaks.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to the nth power. I was about to buy another printer. Your step by step solution help TREMENDOUSLY to solve my streaking problem.
Thank you, I have resolve this issue by following the steps in the video. Most importantly, you have to tally the line on the printed paper with the document feeder and keep cleaning it 4-5 times and it's done!
Thank you for sharing your ideas on fixing the vertical line issue. The first step of unplugging and resetting worked perfectly. You made it an easy fix.
Perfect! I was close to replacing the printhead which would have been expensive and was unaware of the scanner glass area until viewing your video. Now streaks are gone! Thank you!
RE: Scan & copy lines on newer HP printer/scanner...I suspected the problem was dirt/smudge on the smaller class (ADF) window but I tried cleaning it repeatedly to no avail. Used Q tip on rollers, pad, guides and wiped the glass several times carefully with microfiber. Even used computer compressed air. Turned out there was a tiny black ink smudge--only visible at an angle with flashlight. Damp cloth on the EXACT SPOT removed it. Suspect it was caused by scanning a doc with still-tacky black gel ink. Note to self: docs must be thoroughly dry before scanning!
This worked after a couple of tries. The only thing was I could not find out was how to get to my rollers but I cleaned everything else and that fixed it. Thank you

Thanks so much this helped with my HP Officejet Pro 8615 which was showing a black line on scanned items!!! Turns out this black line was on that white stripe on the lid. After scrubbing it off gently for a few minutes my scanner can now scan without any lines!

Thanks, worked. My problem was marks on the scanning glass. I did not have to watch the entire video. When I saw the info on this area I knew. Would watch the entire video if needed next time.
NICE!! There was in on the white strip under the scanner lid, (scanner glass strip) which is what was causing the stripes.. I didn’t need to unplug it & plug it in over & over again. I have an HP 3830
Wow, thank you so much. I reluctantly watched this video, sure that the problem lay within the printer somewhere inaccessible and discovered that a simple cleaning resolved my issue 100%. Who knew a drop of corrector fluid could create a continuous line on my scans and copies?

Very helpful, I thought my printer was defective, until I went in with a flashlight and saw the tiny speckles of glue that were deposited by the ADF-scanned paper. Thanks HP!
I bought an OfficeJet Pro 8600 brand new and brought it home. The feature I bought it for was the ADF and duplexing. The printer's ADF, out of the box, would feed the documents unevenly, causing all scans to be crooked. I brought it back to the store and exchanged it for another new OfficeJet Pro 8600. It had the exact same problem. I contacted HP Tech Support IMMEDIATELY and did not get any helpful response. The scanner/printer has been babied for three years. It has always been kept clean and well cared for. Two months ago the duplexing (two-sided scanning) feature stopped working; it would jam the scanned document every time. Now the ADF does not work at all. Every document I try to scan is mangled. The problem is the same problem I complained about when I bought the scanner: the documents are fed unevenly - but now the problem has gotten worse so that the documents get jammed and mangled. HP should have issued a recall on the OfficeJet Pro, it is a terrible machine and never has performed properly. I will never buy another HP product. It's too bad, my 1990's era LaserJet still works like a champ. Carly Fiorina destroyed this company.

Hi there, thanks for contacting HP Global Social Media Support! I understand that you are experiencing a scanning issue on your printer. I will do my best to assist you. Please refer to the instructions mentioned under this document to fix the issue: bit.ly/3sC1y7h Binu - Social Media Tech Support
+pedsrads Please refer this document to know about loading papers: bitly.com/2NkcJel and to know about printing test page, please follow the guidelines in this document: bitly.com/2BLZzpl
Can you guys please implement waste ink reservoir instead of sponges - or make that area easily extractable/replacable for the user without the need to open the printer loosing warranty? The inks have a habit to mess the printer hard on the inside, resulting in much more frequent head cleanings. In fact the first thing that I do, after purchasing HP printer, is to disassemble it and connect/extract the loose ends of the pump through the drilled holes on the outside in a bottle. Then - the machine works like magic. This is probably the only thing I miss from HP.
+Joe The 3rd step you are referring to The Automatic Document Feeder or ADF is a delicate part of your HP multifunction product that could get damaged if the usage of the unit is not the most appropriate: bit.ly/2iZSEMN

Great idea. They don't seem to put much brainpower into design and engineering, especially when it comes to maintenance access... Douy!
Thanks, this worked great!

The 3rd step is always the cause for me.
+Joe The 3rd step you are referring to The Automatic Document Feeder or ADF is a delicate part of your HP multifunction product that could get damaged if the usage of the unit is not the most appropriate: bit.ly/2iZSEMN
