I watched the whole video, and did all the cleaning that it recommended. In the end, as a last resort, I unplugged it as the video suggested doing first of all. That was what worked. Couldn't believe it! Seemed too easy.

You instructions are on point. Please do not change anything on your RUclips video. Not everyone is computer or equipment knowledgeable and they need to see every step. I was able to clean my printer in one step by doing everything you instructed in this video. So, I don't know what was causing the lines and I fixed the problem in my first go around. However, not every viewer will do this. I recommend to do all you instructed in one step and if it still does not work then you need to service your printer. This will save you time especially, if you are an impatience person and want to shorten the amount of time to resolve the issue at hand. Thank you again for your excellent video. Greatly appreciated! Yes!!!!! The part about the flashlight did the trick. I had cleaned the scanner glass with a "e-Wipe", but that was not good enough. When I shined the flashlight, I saw the spot, used an eyeglass cleaning cloth along with eyeglass cleaner, and got the stubborn buildup of print carbon (or whatever that stuff is). It now works perfect!. I got rid of my last scanner for this problem!

Thanks so much this helped with my HP Officejet Pro 8615 which was showing a black line on scanned items!!! Turns out this black line was on that white stripe on the lid. After scrubbing it off gently for a few minutes my scanner can now scan without any lines!
Perfect! I was close to replacing the printhead which would have been expensive and was unaware of the scanner glass area until viewing your video. Now streaks are gone! Thank you!
This worked after a couple of tries. The only thing was I could not find out was how to get to my rollers but I cleaned everything else and that fixed it. Thank you

NICE!! There was in on the white strip under the scanner lid, (scanner glass strip) which is what was causing the stripes.. I didn’t need to unplug it & plug it in over & over again. I have an HP 3830

Thank you, I have resolve this issue by following the steps in the video. Most importantly, you have to tally the line on the printed paper with the document feeder and keep cleaning it 4-5 times and it's done!

Very helpful, I thought my printer was defective, until I went in with a flashlight and saw the tiny speckles of glue that were deposited by the ADF-scanned paper. Thanks HP!

The flash light idea is the best, I found what I thought to be cracked glass but it was in fact something that was stuck to the glass. Lucky I found that as I was all due to take the printer to an approved fixer which was miles away from my house and my printer is huge. Well done. Good video. I have added it to my favourites just in case.
RE: Scan & copy lines on newer HP printer/scanner...I suspected the problem was dirt/smudge on the smaller class (ADF) window but I tried cleaning it repeatedly to no avail. Used Q tip on rollers, pad, guides and wiped the glass several times carefully with microfiber. Even used computer compressed air. Turned out there was a tiny black ink smudge--only visible at an angle with flashlight. Damp cloth on the EXACT SPOT removed it. Suspect it was caused by scanning a doc with still-tacky black gel ink. Note to self: docs must be thoroughly dry before scanning!
Very informative and detailed video. I tried all of the steps demonstrated in the video without stopping in between. My scanner now scans cleanly, although I'm not sure of which step fixed it. I do know that the unplugging of the unit didn't work.
Client bought 2 AIO Printer and while setting both up for them, one was DOA. They got it swapped as it was under warranty so I returned to setup it up and while making test copies on the replacement, we saw lines on the print outs. This video helped to fix the issue but sadly, I don't think I'll buy an AIO from HP for myself just yet even with your great support that you offer as I can't risk the downtime on troubleshooting and maintenance.

Thanks for the video although I think "how to load paper" should be another video. For me it was like watching the sloth in Zootopia..."wait for it"..., but I was able to fix the problem. Thank you!
I bought an OfficeJet Pro 8600 brand new and brought it home. The feature I bought it for was the ADF and duplexing. The printer's ADF, out of the box, would feed the documents unevenly, causing all scans to be crooked. I brought it back to the store and exchanged it for another new OfficeJet Pro 8600. It had the exact same problem. I contacted HP Tech Support IMMEDIATELY and did not get any helpful response. The scanner/printer has been babied for three years. It has always been kept clean and well cared for. Two months ago the duplexing (two-sided scanning) feature stopped working; it would jam the scanned document every time. Now the ADF does not work at all. Every document I try to scan is mangled. The problem is the same problem I complained about when I bought the scanner: the documents are fed unevenly - but now the problem has gotten worse so that the documents get jammed and mangled. HP should have issued a recall on the OfficeJet Pro, it is a terrible machine and never has performed properly. I will never buy another HP product. It's too bad, my 1990's era LaserJet still works like a champ. Carly Fiorina destroyed this company.

Found a small smudge on the glass and rubbed it off and the black line disappeared. Great video!

Suspect it was caused by scanning a doc with still-tacky black gel ink. Note to self: docs must be thoroughly dry before scanning!
how, this worked and I am so happy now. I was almost ready to get another printer but it worked.

Very informative and detailed video. I tried all of the steps demonstrated in the video without stopping in between. My scanner now scans cleanly, although I'm not sure of which step fixed it. I do know that the unplugging of the unit didn't work.

Client bought 2 AIO Printer and while setting both up for them, one was DOA. They got it swapped as it was under warranty so I returned to setup it up and while making test copies on the replacement, we saw lines on the print outs.
This video helped to fix the issue but sadly, I don't think I'll buy an AIO from HP for myself just yet even with your great support that you offer as I can't risk the downtime on troubleshooting and maintenance.

The 3rd step is always the cause for me.

I bought an OfficeJet Pro 8600 brand new and brought it home. The feature I bought it for was the ADF and duplexing. The printer's ADF, out of the box, would feed the documents unevenly, causing all scans to be crooked. I brought it back to the store and exchanged it for another new OfficeJet Pro 8600. It had the exact same problem. I contacted HP Tech Support IMMEDIATELY and did not get any helpful response. The scanner/printer has been babied for three years. It has always been kept clean and well cared for. Two months ago the duplexing (two-sided scanning) feature stopped working; it would jam the scanned document every time. Now the ADF does not work at all. Every document I try to scan is mangled. The problem is the same problem I complained about when I bought the scanner: the documents are fed unevenly - but now the problem has gotten worse so that the documents get jammed and mangled. HP should have issued a recall on the OfficeJet Pro, it is a terrible machine and never has performed properly. I will never buy another HP product. It's too bad, my 1990's era LaserJet still works like a champ. Carly Fiorina destroyed this company.
