My HP 8610's printhead is all the way to the right. When I open the door, the printhead stays to the right. When I power off and unplug, I cannot move the printhead whatsoever. The LED display shows, "One or more cartridges appear to be damaged. "Remove them and replace with new cartridges." I can't get the printhead to the left to do anything. I was able to reach in and push in and out each cartridge to make sure they were not improperly installed, but they were all correctly installed. No paper stuck anywhere. Checked the duplex, everywhere: no paper left anywhere. No shreds or scraps of paper anywhere. What to do? Thanks!
@@HPSupport How can you be so daft as to recommend an instructional solution on a model printer that is NOT what I detailed?? My printer is an HP 8610 !!! The printer in that instructional is NOTHING like mine!!! I do not have such simple access to the printhead mechanism! I cannot just lift up the whole top of the printer and expose the printhead!! Useless . . . COMPLETELY USELESS . . .
@@SSS-nx6xp I'm having the same exact issue with my 8600-- the print carriage is jammed into the far right corner and not moving. After shutting the printer door, it initializes through it's prompts (1-2 seconds), it then attempts to move the carriage, to no avail. It's almost like its caught on something. Or maybe a gear tooth broke and wedged itself in the internal gearing somehow. Is there a way to open the 8600 from the top so as to be able to properly access and inspect the printer track? How did you remedy the situation?
@@chrisnyasia7 SOLUTION: TRASH THAT PIECE OF JUNK PRINTER. Get a Brother and make sure its a LASER printer not that garbage ink-jet. That's what I did after spending a week with various forums, getting on the phone with tech support . . . not worth it. Swallow the loss and learn from it: never buy ink-jet again. Go with Brother: free lifetime support. The other comments about the same and similar issues should tell you the same things. Good luck!
@@SSS-nx6xp totally grateful for the sound advice. Just as soon as I'm done posting this, I'll be looking into brother laser printers... Appreciate the knowledge...

All of your steps provided only work if you can move the print head. I can NOT move it. At all. So this was absolutely ZERO help
