LYRICS
This rock of ages
This rock of war
And the day you left forevermore
(Ha-ha, yeah, yeah)
Stars, they're drilling stars
Our eyes afire for God
We do what we want 'til we want just one more life
We do what we want 'til we want to survive
Say you hate me
Say you'd mark my grave
Swear religion has no spectral race
Chase me under
Right back where I sang
To brace new vision and decay in chains
(Ha-ha, yeah, yeah)
(Ha-ha, yeah, yeah)
All hail the blackest nights
The blackest night I'd find
All hail the blackest night
Blinding me with sight
This rock of ages
Lamplighters all
And the day you crept through the fog of home
Stars, they're drilling stars
Our eyes, our eyes afire for God
We do what we want 'til we want just one more fight
We do what we want 'til we want to survive
Say you hate me
Say you'd mark my grave
Swear religion has no spectral race
Chase me under
Right back where I sang
To brace new vision and decay in chains
(Ha-ha, yeah, yeah)
(Ha-ha, yeah, yeah)
All hail the blackest nights
The blackest night I'd find
All hail the blackest night
Blinding me with sight
I'll rock your mind
I'll rock your mind
From Milky Way to Mersey Quay
To mystic climes
Leave it all behind
Rock island lines
I'll rock your mind

thanks mang!
I hear “our eyes are far from God” which makes more sense in our world.
Another transcendent track from CYR! I haven’t looked forward to an album release this much in decades.
Same !!
I can’t wait for concerts again. I can’t wait to see the Pumpkins play these new songs. It will be interesting how they are converted to live sound.
This could easily be Age Of Innocence B-Side 🤙
one fact about this new album : NO FILLERS
Sorry to be offtopic but does any of you know of a way to get back into an instagram account?
I was stupid forgot the login password. I would appreciate any help you can give me

This is becoming my favorite on the album.
best pumpkins album in decades!!! love it
They've been around for a couple, but the point is clear
Best since oceania imo
@Josh Tyler this is much better than Zeitgeist...I'm beginning to like this so much that it might be better than Oceania as well..
This is so good. Back up vocals are on point too.
Fantastic album that sort of both has that 80's vibe and a contemporary sound and at the same time does not sound like anything out there today. I also have to say it has that Pumpkins-sound to it, although in another universe. This was truly refreshing to listen to, and a great addition to the ever so evolving catalogue of Smashing Pumpkins albums. Lets enjoy this music now, and be excited for the Machina re-issue and the sequel to that and MCIS. A lot of music on the way from Corgan, Iha, Chamberlin and Schroeder. Can't wait!
I'm concerned about the machina reissue with the overdubs billy is adding in 2020 though. Would anyone want to hear Pet Sounds with Wilson added overdubs in '87? Or Nevermind if Grohl added parts in 2011? Billy can't accept that he isn't as good as he was 20 years ago
@@86Starcaves Not good just for you
@@86Starcaves Billy is as good as he ever was. He can still do the parts from back then. You won't hear anyone sounding exactly the same as 20 years ago, everyone evolves musically wheter it's style or voice. I have no fears of overdubs on the Machina re-issue, have faith. :)
@@granhalfdanarsonellingsen9700 I disagree with you. You should try listening to the American Gothic ep in 2020.. tell me how that has aged
@@86Starcaves it's okay that you disagree. But what are you doing here then in a commentary field complaining about SP and Billy Corgan in 2020? The old music is still there, go and enjoy those albums. As a musician myself, you can't always hit the jackpot on all releases, and you can never go out with the goal of pleasing other people with how they expect the music to be. I'm not telling you to embrace new SP, if you don't like the music you don't like it, but you have the options, the old era is there.
I have no words how fantastic is a whole album.A masterpiece
I am glad this band is getting more recognition recently .
man, i want to jam with the pumpkins at least once in my life.
This album is so underrated,every.single.song on the fucking album is pure quality and perfection and you dont see someone who does it for the fans,we love you billy
Love it!!!! Happy Thanksgiving and thankful for a great band : my favorite of all time!!!
so happy. nice time traveling as always!!! thank you!
This song sounds so amazing 😍

This is so darn beautiful

Bellissimi suoni. Rinnovamento totale.

Love this song!
I love this one, Billy.
Amazing album. 🔥 I want it.
This is definitely one of my favorites of Cyr. Hoping my record will come tomorrow so I crank it on my speakers.
It's Here!! woohoo!! the whole album!!!! Best Thanksgiving ever!!💜💜🤟🎃
Clicked as soon as I seen it
🖤
I like this synth pop stuff it's like a new age re vamped pumpkins
To me this album symbolises change and the band moving on. They are not trying to sound like how they did in the 90s, they are moving on and accepting that music changes and evolves over time. I respect that massively.
To me it sounds like a Billy solo album though. I barely see the inclusion of any of the other members.
I feel like they kinda taking cues from the muse in how they’re evolving their sound. They don’t sound like muse by any means but rather following what they did and applied it to their sound
this is pure 80´s. Its been done. Nothing "changing and evolving". So naive.
Happy Smashgiving to us!
Like your hands moving along a wonderwall face-to-face, this video would further enhance the dynamics of that simple and elemental activuty then reap the benefits sooner or later in other aspects
It's a real pretty one 💕
I think Billy wants us to dance in 2020.
Corgan ist the greatest ilove this MAN and His music thank you 😘
Blizzard Entertainment finally release something worth playing!
Bringing it back to Adore days!
Legend sing
Ascoltando la voce di Billy ,Un tuffo nel passato....adoro, saluti dà Napoli (Ita)

Okay, cool. Now I'm gonna' go listen to Mutilator Defeated At Last by Thee Oh Sees.
Future embrace part 2.
sounds nothing like future embrace
I was thinking the same thing Sound From Cassette.
@@mattbillington7511 I agree. sounds nothing like future embrace
Let's face it, if all these songs were sung by Anthony Gonzalez as part of an M83 album, it would be celebrated and be in discussions for album of the year. A lot of people have trouble with Billy himself and or his voice, the easy scapegoat. It's a shame but I've accepted it..because I enjoy it which is all that matters in the end
PS I like M83
Very true.
You got it, man.
im glad i dont know who that is
Idky people care so much about voice like they want every song to be sung like bruno Mars lmao
All hail the blackest night
This poppy sound with dense obscure and over wrought lyrics never worked anywhere.
great, back to gish for you. Goodbye.
Sounds like he's trying too hard to fit in with modernity without actually getting into it
@@Saosin3333 it is ironic because while the alternative movement was popular in the 90s is was never trying to be mainstream.
@@neilanadams5173 it's even more ironic because that's what he's been trying to do since Oceania and Monuments; go mainstream. There are a few good tracks on Oceania and Monuments but they're not the mainstream-my sounding ones.
It works here. This song is gorgeous. Second best track on the record next to the title track. This album has been a MASSIVE improvement over their last one.
🌚🌝
Same melody as Wrath for a second there, whoops
That happens in other songs as well. I like to think he did it intentionally as a "melodic callback" to tie the album together conceptually.
damn harsh comments for free music lol
Pumpkins have the worst fans l swear.
This , but Alan Wilder
would be interesting. But Wilder is too dark. i mean. this song is something more to work with Vince Clarke. Differente approach
@@gustavoayunta957 it can go dark hence Jennifer says
is this copyright free?
not any more
Anyone else think they play StarCraft
Doubke R because of Blizzard?
🎶🌈🌟🌈🎶
Sounds like wrath and Ramona.
I really hope this album isn't the masterpiece billy was talking about making last year. Siamese Dream, Mellon Collie, Adore, Machina are masterpieces. This music is so forgettable. Confessions of a domaine addict and wrath are the only two songs that I want to replay.
Amen brother.
The MCIS/Machina sequel comes next. A lot of these songs are growers-takes a few listens then they really get you!
Worst Pumpkins album ever!
@@vinyldiary6664 I mean there was always the one from a year or two ago
@@christianjohnson7228 It's true...but that album still had one or two good songs, as I remember. This album I don't like anything. Generic crap
#ZERO
Decent track. Its just he needs to smooth out his vocal approach like he used to on Pisces Iscariot. This is screeching and messy at times.
He’s much older now and sadly his voice has aged with him.
I think it sounds beautiful. It’s like an opiate
It's understandable that longtime pumpkins fans wants to hear once again "that" long lost pumpkins sound, or at least something related to that era, i think i'm one of those fans. It's also understandable that things change, music change, Billy has changed and living of expectations inside a sort of nostalgic bubble leads to a eternal disappointment. So let's judge these songs for what they represent today, placing them inside the today's musical enviroment. They sucks.
I understand what you're saying. I'll definitely give this album props as it is extremely interesting, but some of their stuff on the last few albums seems like it lacked passion.
I keep playing this one in hopes that it grabs me eventually, there area few songs I'm definitely impressed with.
You wrote all that just to say they suck?!
@@bohemiandream6259 they certainly oy don't suck. They're better musically now than they were at the height of their popularity.
@@thebrodstar I definitely don’t think they suck!! I’m a humongous fan. Love all their discography & solo material as well!
@@thebrodstar I was referring to the fact that this person said “they suck” at the end of their long comment
Sounds like it was made from a bunch of Soundtrack Pro samples.
Seriously what's with bands doing this? This can't be the same band that made Siamese Dream. If they wanna do it for the money then they need to call themselves Lil Pumpkinz and get a feature from Billie Eyelashes.
Sadly, I agree. SP was one of my favorite bands, if not my favorite. I want to continue to love them. But, this just isn't working. Might be fine as a solo project, but this doesn't sound like a band to me at all. Yes, I love Adore and Machina and even Zwan. Something is just really missing here. I want to hear Jimmy play the drums, not some weird sampled handclap sound. Where is James? He really brought some of those songs from Adore to life, live. I don't feel any passion or conviction here...
This is decent
Anyone who likes this has very suspect music taste
chill out Den m8
I'm sure you have some shit picks too. Everyone does.
Jimmy can play like Tony Williams.
Billy then proceeds to click cheesy synthetic handclap button and completely bury him.
Such. A. Waste.
Dude this is the second vid i've seen you just bitch about Chamberlin and the mix. Go listen to Zeitgeist if you want to hear him pummel. Or Jimmy just dropped a really solid jazz-prog album like 4 months ago which he kills on.
This album isn't a showcase for THAT Chamberlin. OBVIOUSLY. Move on.
I hear zero complaints about 1979 basically being a beat from a drum machine. That's the beauty of this band. They are a thousand styles all in one. They can make Starrcraft and 1979 and X.Y.U and United States and fucking Cupid de Locke.
1979 is the one song on that record that sounds like that. That track is great-these are not. This sounds like a half baked solo record with sterile production.
@@dustjacket1000 Love was electronic too
Let me guess you’re listening on your phone. Get some good headphones, smoke some weed, and journey through the layers. You’re missing out!
And they were gonna tour and open for Guns & Roses with this crap? Good luck!
Ew. Guns & Roses. I would def leave right after the Pumpkins.
They weren't going to be playing this material dummy. They could design a setlist far heavier than GNR if they so choosed. Stick to racoons
@@MrSteve88 What do you have the set list you wanna bet
@@MrSteve88 Congratulations .sales are terrible on this, no one likes it.
@@kevinanimalcasinokevcasino8172 Who cares about sales? It's the music. This is an awesome album. We live in a different era now. The days of the massive rock stars are gone. The internet is in full swing. Covid is here.
Goddamn this is shaping up to be an incredibly one note album. At least this track has a LITTLE bit of life to it but man, guess even a reunion can't light a fire back under Billy.
Dude it was planned this way
@@CSACK99 it was planned to be forgettable?
You need to smoke a bowl and get some good headphones grandpa
This is a sell out song man i miss the 90s way they sounded
This ain't it
Why are they releasing the same music everytime? LOOOL
Billy can still write a tune, but his singing is awful and the instrumentation on this album is so bland.
Does nobody around him dare to speak the truth? He needs a D’Arcy in his life.
wtf are u talking about. calm down.
It does sound pretty basic, better for an EP or a B-Sides comp
Are you kidding? D'arcy the druggie? No thanks. His singing is so cool now, better than it ever was back in the day. I love the change in music.
Billy boy, this ain’t it
Nvm this good
@@andrewshankland9314 lmao
What happened to the Big muff and guitar, Billy? What happened to Gish, Siamese Dream, and Melon Collie And The Infinite Sadness? This sound is forgettable.
Duh!
whole album is unlistenable
agreed, it's terrible
mediocre.
Whole album is great an artistically courageous
Should’ve ended the band in the 90s
Facts
so we’re just gonna ignore the countless beautiful songs from both Machinas, Zeitgeist, Oceania, Teargarden etc?
@@bohemiandream6259 people are goofy. Probably dont know quarter of billys work.
Idiotic comment!!!
I disagree
