As usual with every Pumpkins album since I was 15, I didn’t understand this album at all when it first came out. May have even said a few negative things about it to friends. And now it’s one of the best albums I’ve heard in ages. Their songs have this incredible ability to grow on you after a few listens.
It sneaks up on you doesn't it? It's like what people said about Adore....not me thought I loved Adore!!!!

Lovin this album,you can tell it’s Jimmy on the drums even though they are electronic,lovin the melancholic keys and vox,must purchase album immediately.

The only thing I just can't get used to is that the newer stuff by the Smashing Pumpkins is that Billy Corgan's voice seems over the rest of the sound when their older stuff I always jammed to his voice always felt more blended in with the sound.

This album is an instant classic.
Hated the sound at first...now after some repeated listens I'm starting to like it...
Some songs are redundant retreads but Billy's voice sounds great ..
I'm starting to agree... I love guitars personally and I as a fan of S.P. was initially disappointed with the synth heavy arrangements. After repeated listenings, I'm loving this album more and more and reconsidering the lukewarm review I gave it on Amazon.

Didnt think it was lukewarm..just seemed you bemoaned and are hurt by Darcy's absence..
While I dreamed of the original lineup reforming, I think this is possibly the best version..Iha and Jimmy while retaining Jeff, you really cant ask for any better..
I do like a female presence--- my personal favorite is Linda Strawberry.
Back to Darcy, it's been 20 or so years since her split..she is/was doing huge heaps of meth..letting horses roam wild and doesn't particularly look good(being nice) with the effects of drug use and some poor botox treatments.
So I live in reality and do not fantasize about a potential reunion..I do hope the Pumpkins return to the guitars because MCIS is the greatest album in history, imo.

After listening to this brilliant song and the rest of the album I have come to the conclusion that the Pumpkins have terrible single choosing skills. This would have generated much more excitement than ‘Were on the Verge’ or whatever it’s called.

I am so confused reading these comments-best song, best album, etc... What is going on? I'm seriously starting to think this whole project is some kind of planned joke. The songs feel completely without passion and people are so supposedly, somehow blown away by this? This band had over a decade of mainstream hits and buried gems, but this is somehow better than all of that? Their old bsides are far better than any of this. I'm not into nostalgia acts, but this band is killing itself. Where is the actual band?
What's your problem exactly ? That it's not heavy with the usual guitars? How many albums do you think Billy needs or wants to do just as that? Go listen to SD, Mellon Collie or Machina..

Totally agree. There's no band. The songs have no melody or hook. It's horrid. Cyr and Wyttch are great, but this wouldn't even make a good ep.

@@leraph3904 I hope that that is the case. I was 18 or 19 when Adore came out and yes, it took a while to grow on me. But, even with that album, I feel like I felt right away that the songs were good. Like, the presentation/instrumentation had to grow on me. Honestly, I liked the album, but really fell in love with it after hearing some of the songs performed live-I almost had to hear that to break through...

One of the filler tracks on the album IMO. From Telegenix onward it's overkill and most of the last 7 or 8 songs are filler. 9-10 songs for this album would've been enough. It's really hard to sit through this whole album.

Really? It’s a standout for me personally. Also I think in the era of streaming & downloads, length doesn’t really matter bc you can click off in a second. So I’m personally not really sure why people are complaining about the album length.

He destroys the song with bad lyrics and poor melodic phrasing which comes as a result of off kilter singing style and questionable lyrics.
