It is strange to see audience members who have passed since this was made: Paul Daniels, Tim Brooke-Taylor, Lionel Blair, Nicholas Parsons. No wonder tv is so poor. There is nobody left. Bless you Les.
Watching this again, you realise humour doesn't exist on British TV anymore.... PC has wiped out the Greatest of the Great and those who hoped to be Great....... What a loss!!
Wonderful to see him again .he was one of the best comedians .never forgotten .watching in 2024 sad to see those audience members that have also passed away
I’m 71 and my dad was a friend of Les when I was a kid … came round to our house a few times in Didsbury Manchester. Can’t prove it but that was great to watch, thanks 😊
My father went to Cambridge University, helped develop ship Radar in WW2, spoke at the UN, travelled the world as a Chemical engineer including behind the Iron Curtain during the Cold War, and found Les Dawson hilarious.
The blankety blank 'cheque book and pen' probably the most valuable thing they gave away on the programme. Although ut was in the days when the BBC thought it wasn't appropriate to spend licence payers money on game show prizes.
Technology's a wonderful thing, this was a joy to watch. Though it was odd looking round the audience to notice how many others are also no longer with us, since only 2013 when this was filmed
Love you Les, this World is much bleaker now you're not here anymore. You're much missed. Thanks for all the laughs. RESQUIT IN PACE - LES DAWSON, AND THE COMIC LEGEND YOU ARE. 😷😢😔🤗❤️👍✌️👋
What an enjoyable show, as if Les was actually performing 'live'. I've never laughed so much at a comedian and he was a master with words. This is the kind of humour our world misses so much. Thank you Les.
No comics like this anymore. I grew up in the 70's with the likes of Les Dawson on tv. He still makes me cry with laughter even tho he has passed on. Les you may be gone but you will forever make us laugh! Sad day when he died.
Me too Steve, I was born in 1964 and was party to all the great comics that my family watched on TV together. It was another era, one we'll never see again.
How sad that this exceptional entertainer did not get to be a part of his daughters life. How wonderful to be the father of such a poised and beautiful young woman. Not to mention all the great comedic material fatherhood can provide over those years ! God Bless and Keep You All.
I loved this man for what he was, a brilliant, natural born British comedian, I loved his mother in law jokes and his spontaneous "one liners". He used to imitate northern ladies gossiping together, where they "mouth" the words without actually using their vocal cords. He had the same accent as most of my father's family who came from near Liverpool (Heswall, Waterloo, freshfield). I was very upset when he died and could imagine the grief of his wife and daughter, losing such a lovely and talented person like that. Thank God we have his recordings. This man had such talent that, even before he uttered a word or played a note, one was in fit's of laughter.
The show was made by ITV so no license fee was used. But I totally agree, this program was outstanding. It's always good to see joy on peoples faces, and this show excelled at doing just that. Being born in 1970 I grew up with these comedians/geniuses. Unfortunately their likes are no longer around and sadly will never return. If there were to be more of these shows I would happily watch them. Tommy Cooper, Morecambe and Wise, my television is waiting.
Greatest comic ever, shows like his never can never be replicated, up there with the greats, 2 ronnies, only fools and horses, porridge, last of the summer wine, open all hours we should be so grateful to have watched them in our youths TRUE LAUGHTER
I've not laughed so much in years. One of the greatest comedians EVER. If only we had that caliber of comedy now in 2021 the world would be a better place. RIP Les.
What would you make of the world today Les? Your so dearly missed. Hope you were watching this, the smile's and tears of your lovely wife and daughter made it simply perfect.
I had the pleasure of this magnificent fella's company a few times in 92/93. Cissie & Ada will always be my idols. That pairing with Roy (Cheers;)) was a pair we ALL know and created timeless idols. Les, thanks mate.
Dear Les, I once saw him in a comedy show in Bradford. He was amazing, the other actors just fell about laughing with his ad-libs. An amazing and genuine man, R.I.P Les, and thank you.
Thanks for sharing this. I remember when Les appeared on the "Opportunity Knocks" program with Hughie Green, His timing was not quite right at the time, but he soon tuned up his delivery, to become very funny. His whole persona was about the blunt "up North" way of life,, with a cartoon like characterisation of everything going wrong . So many people from those parts could identify with that, , but in true British spirit, the public understood and laughed full and loud. at themselves. If ever their was a John Bull of the British Comedy world, it was him. A very gifted entertainer who should never be forgotten.

Les was among the most genuine of people in the business we call 'show' that you could ever wish to meet. Looking back now, it's sobering to think how many others featured here have now passed away.
i remember seeing this on TV. It was my first time seeing Les in action, and i wish i was born 10 years earlier so that i could've seen him properly on TV.
A 70's icon; growing up without Les Dawson would have made us very different people. And the same goes for Morecambe and Wise, Dick Emery, Monty Python, Tommy Cooper, The Likely Lads, Dave Allen and the wonderful Michael Parkinson for the Saturday night interviews. Fantastic, inspiring and unforgettable years.
This man never fails to make me laugh...he was such a huge childhood memory of mine from the 70's. Such a sad loss to the world of comedians. Miss you lots Les...Bless You XXXX
Thanks for sharing, i loved Les Dawson when i was growing up as a kid, he literally had me in tears laughing whenever i saw him on TV. This was an amazing tribute, he had a natural talent for making people laugh, a great down to earth guy too. Thanks Les for all the times you made me laugh, gone but never forgotten. RIP
First class simply brilliant. Sterling gent and fantastic musician and comedian. Miss you Les. Forever in our hearts ❤️ Always loved and remembered XXX
I laughed all the way through...and as it was 3am, I woke up the entire house too. Les' daughter is such a beautiful girl...he'd have been so proud of her..
Amazing.I can't usually watch a video for more than 5 minutes but i was glued for the whole thing. One of the funniest men ever. Well done whoever created this hologram idea, unique and brilliant.
Thank you so much for posting. Part of my television childhood. Later, in an era of 'Punk Rock' etc in the 70's and then in the next decade, no teenager would watch 'Blankety Blank' in the '80s. What a comic genius Les was,and how he grafted for his trade. RIP
I'm sure there are countless out there but for me les dawson is the only celeb I grew up with that actually could make a silk purse out of a sow's ear...blackety blank is all the proof anyone needs. A brilliant man.
I met you two in Plymouth at New Year. The year before he died. You guys had a round table and Les insisted in having his young daughter at the table with all his guests. He was very generous to me and my girlfriend at the time.
His panto season. I worked in the hotel he stayed at and had a few meets with him there. If that meal was at QMH hotel, I may have cooked it ;)) He always a great guy.
Wow that was great that man made us laugh when he was alive and is still doing it from the grave ...Well NO he lives on in all our minds .THANK YOU MR LES DAWSON .
They should take this video down immediately - all my friends are going to find out where my best material comes from LOL. it was lovely to watch the maestro of mirth in action again
Absolutely brilliant nee bull he brightened up millions of shitty lives in a way that he only could ,the funniest bloke ever ,and still love watching him !
It is strange to see audience members who have passed since this was made: Paul Daniels, Tim Brooke-Taylor, Lionel Blair, Nicholas Parsons. No wonder tv is so poor. There is nobody left. Bless you Les.

Mum and I never missed Les when he was on the telly😀😄🤪. There are no comedians anywhere that could come close to him. Ken Dodd also💙💜.
That was too funny.
And only took five months to land. ;)
God bless him. Gone are the days of this comic humour, in fact, gone are the days of any. A master of laughter, and sadly missed.
Watching this programme in 2021 it saddened me to think how many people who took part are no longer with us
ITV, if you're lucky they put shows on between the adverts.
Absolutely brilliant...just dont get comedians like Les Dawson these days. RIP
It's very refreshing to hear of a celebrity who has a reputation that is not being tarnished by his own stupidity or perversions.
'The curtains were drawn but all the other furniture was real'! Your second to none Mr. Dawson
His daughter is truly stunning he will be smiling down with pride looking at her .
Technology's a wonderful thing, this was a joy to watch. Though it was odd looking round the audience to notice how many others are also no longer with us, since only 2013 when this was filmed
I just said exactly the same..so many legends that aren't here anymore!
Les had the magic that goes beyond talent....we won't see another like him.
Ya Knever Know
Agreed! One of the best if not THE best stand up comic in my entire lifetime so dry such faces comic genius r.i.p. les u loved by me ❤️
This must have been a very special moment for his daughter.
Love you Les, this World is much bleaker now you're not here anymore. You're much missed. Thanks for all the laughs. RESQUIT IN PACE - LES DAWSON, AND THE COMIC LEGEND YOU ARE. 😷😢😔🤗❤️👍✌️👋
SUCH a wonderful man! - One of a kind that we will never get to see again! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
What an enjoyable show, as if Les was actually performing 'live'. I've never laughed so much at a comedian and he was a master with words. This is the kind of humour our world misses so much. Thank you Les.
The worst part was when he just vanished on the stage at the end. That was his last standing ovation, God bless him.
No comics like this anymore. I grew up in the 70's with the likes of Les Dawson on tv. He still makes me cry with laughter even tho he has passed on. Les you may be gone but you will forever make us laugh! Sad day when he died.

Same thing, I seem to remember that they tried to cancel him and Bernard Manning.
@@jayfurjill same here Jill , I was born 1963. We had the best of it all back then
Agreed
I met him once after one of his shows. I was so excited! His wife was there too. Both really lovely people.
How sad that this exceptional entertainer did not get to be a part of his daughters life. How wonderful to be the father of such a poised and beautiful young woman. Not to mention all the great comedic material fatherhood can provide over those years !
God Bless and Keep You All.
He was magic this was a special night for his wife daughter and his fans RIP you lovely lovely man .
