I loved Ken from being about ten-years-old. The finest comedian ever for me. How did he keep going until well after midnight? He must have enjoyed what he was doing. Epic Ken Dodd!
My mother died in January 1991 after a very long illness, she was bedridden and in a great deal of pain. On her last Christmas Day she sat up in bed in the evening to watch Ken Dodds programme, I will never forget that night, she laughed until tears ran down her face and she was totally exhausted, for a couple of hours she was transported to a happier place, it was wonderful and gave us all a smile at a very difficult time. Thanks Ken, you were amazing.

KEN DODD understood one vital thing about comedy. It has to be something that makes the audience feel secure. He never used bad language or insulted people and his humour was appealing to all ages. It tapped into the human, childlike side of us, that wants to be tickled... hence the tickling stick. He was just MARVELLOUS and I am so grateful for the gift of true laughter he has given us. My mum and dad took me to see Ken at the Coventry theatre in the 60's. I remember saying to my mum to tell him to stop as my sides were aching so much from laughing. A brilliant entertainer sorely missed.
No rudeness, no sexual innuendos, just pure clean fun and laughter..... that went on and on and on until the point where some theatre managers wanted to throw him out so they could close for the night. RIP Ken
What a lovely change from political videos. Ken Dodd - the best stand-up I ever saw. When I heard him he was 86 years old and he went from 8pm until after midnight. And what a superb singer.
@James Henderson he's dead leave him alone everybody supports different things maybe not all those things are right but just going to have to agree to disagree on it, I didn't support or like Margaret thatcher but I still liked going to see or watch Ken
Such a treasure of a man, but looking at the audience from just 2002 really brings reality to life, Not just Ken himself, but so many of the members of this audience are with us no more. Such sadness with so much happiness.
2 words that explain Ken Dodd legend and genius. This man spent his whole life making people laugh. Wish he was, still around to make us all laugh in 2021.God bless Ken ❤️
The way he switches from sarcasm, to grandad jokes, to sexual innuendos to silly stuff that makes no sense - yet is still funny, without even taking a breath, he really is one of a kind.
I first listened to Ken on the radio in the 1960s. I watched him on TV and enjoyed every minute. This video was the first time I have seen his performances in over 30 years. I had to try hard not to laugh loudly as my wife had already gone to bed and I watched wearing earphones. I am delighted to have found this purely accidentally.
In 1963, when I was 5, Ken was doing a summer season in my home town of Gt Yarmouth. I was walking along Hall Quay with my mum when she spotted him coming out of a bank. She asked him if he had a signed photo and he said he didn’t. He asked if we knew anyone at the theatre and my mum said a near neighbour’s son worked as a stage hand. A couple of days later there was a knock at the door and the neighbours son handed a signed photo to my mum and said Mr Dodd asked me to give this to you.
Just before dementia took my mum we sat and watched this, I'd no idea of how much she loved this man until that night - I'd NEVER seen/heard her laugh as much as she did that night !. And to my surprise, I joined in !. Up until that night I'd always consudered him as a comedian of my parents time but not after this - he was quite simply brilliant and I'm eternally grateful for such a wonderful night he gave my mum and me !
It's a pity Ken dods gone what a genius gentleman .. a few in the audience no longer with us . Its a great shame we'll probably never see the likes of those brilliant performers ever again. RIP Ken
So many great comedians came out of the UK in the 50s and 60s. Eric Morecambe, Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan, Benny Hill, Tommy Cooper, Les Dawson and above all, Ken Dodd.
The first time I've seen and heard of this man. He is a genius of humor. His jokes are hilarious. He had me crying with tears of laughter. He sings and does ventriloquism as well. To bad he passed, I would of love to see more of him. It's good we have the internet to be still entertained. God bless this wonderful man.
Sorry indeed, some of us had the good fortune to grow up with his radio broadcasts, the highlight of our grey 1960s lives! And his live shows were legendary, went on & on & on & on, not a dry seat in the house! Professional? He ALWAYS started dead on time, but had to be thrown out gone midnight!! When he got done by the Inland Revenue, he told them he lived by the sea. And when the doctor found £1,900 up his backside, he said he wasn't feeling too grand. And NEVER a swear word. God up there must be begging for an intermission. RIP, the unique Ken Dodd.
a typical Ken Dodd show lasted Well into the 4 hour relm. One of his lines was "You come in during daylight and its my job to see you go home in it as well" I went to one show 7;30 start got out past Midnight!! Superb shows! Different every night!
Absolutely brilliant Ken Dodd comic genius, I laughed throughout. Always cheers me up and I would recommend anyone to watch this programme. God bless Ken.
On Sunday we were feeling down we have been in self isolation now for 14 days and wanted some light relief well this did the trick, I recommend Doddy and his like to everyone no matter what age you are turn off the news and let this genius do what he does best make you laugh and boy do we need it right now .Safe safe.
We got home one night, well actually 1am after going to the second house of Ken’s show, and we only had to travel about 6 miles home. There will never be another like him, his shows were always fabulous, we knew we were in for a good show and would be there all night, fabulous.
He wasn't just Unbelievable Jester, he had a beautiful singing voice too. He was one of a kind. Rest in Peace Ken. Knotty Ash will always Miss You. And it won't be the Same without you Ken..
Oh the good old days of inuendo’s and the ability to laugh at life and ourselves without judgement….i’m so glad I was born into an era when Ken was around and could laugh until my stomach hurt…😅😂❤❤❤
There will never be another Ken Dod he was a master of comedy he was non stop with his quick wit and never needed foul language he truly was one of a kind and is missed beyond words .Thank you Sir Ken for giving us so many years of Laughter RIP you will always be a legend
An absolute gem of an entertainer in the vaudeville, music hall mold. Saw him live myself in his latter years & just could not get over the amount of energy he had & the sheer volume of one liners was a sight to behold. A marvellous, supremely gifted man in the ‘old style’ of comedy greats.
God bless doddy he is still my favourite comic and he always made us all laugh with out swearing Ken Dodd still is a Legend and a genius and we will always miss Ken he's in heaven now entertaining everyone but boy how we wish you were here Doddy now cos we need you more than ever before you still make me laugh
A friend was on a holiday flight with him and he performed throughout the journey and bought a drink for the passengers. Someone will remember this story. Absolutely a legend.
The man was a genius the complete entertainer he could sing do silly dances and have audiences rolling in the aisles with laughter sorely missed RIP you were one of the greatest
I was lucky, living in Blackpool, one year I went to the first night and the last night at the Opera House. The first night it finished at about 00.15 and the last at 00.30. Doddy was the greatest ever. How he kept the audience in the palm of his hand for hours on end I'll never know. He really was The Greatest.
Definitely the best comedian I ever saw live on stage. His shows, as many people say, were legendary. You never knew when you were going to be allowed out. He was also one of so few comedians who never swore, nor lowered the tone and yet, could carry on for hours. I think the latest time to exit for a show I ever attended was 12.15am. He started at 7.30pm. I just don’t know how he did it. I had tickets for one of his last booked shows (at the Bournemouth Pavilion where he appeared annually for more years than I can now remember and was very much a tradition), which regrettably he never got to do. I think it was clear weeks before that it was unlikely to ever happen, but how we hoped, even to think it would likely be the last time we ever saw him live. But I think we would have given him a tremendous send-off. Such a sad loss to the variety circuit.
Absolutely brilliant, very few will ever compete with this sort of comedy, no sex references, no swearing, very unique comedy. May he RIP, will always will be sadly missed.
Don't make em like Sir Doddy anymore. What a star, entertainer, good clean fun with a beautiful singing voice. I loved him, went to his funeral in our lovely cathedral. Great send off for a great guy, love you Ken XXX
Saw him at Southport theatre so many times and yes it was well after 1 o’clock when we came out absolutely sore with laughing. Pure genius. Miss him so much
I've seen all the great entertainers come and go: Les Dawson, Tommy Cooper, Frankie Howerd, Benny Hill, The Two Ronnies, Morecambe & Wise and others, all great losses, and it is fitting that the GREATEST of them all - KEN DODD - was the last to leave us. End of an Era. Very sad. We will never see their like again. Apologies for those I forgot to mention.
I was very lucky to see Ken twice. In one performance he told jokes non-stop for 1 hour 40 minutes. He’s a legend and there will never be another performer like him. RIP
He was really funny, and a lovely singer. A human encyclopaedia of jokes. I saw him twice in the 90,s. Family friendly. Truly unique, much better than today's comics. RIP Ken Dodd. X
RIP Ken if I should Evan attempt to describe what I think of Ken I would be sat here all weekend and more, total Legend. Should of been awarded the VC for Comedy.
I never heard of this guy before, decided to watch it and this was great, the crowd loved him and it was good to b e able to be at the concert like I was there with them. Thanks for posting this. Thanks Ken for the great show mate though long after it was done. RIP.
I had the privilege to see him live three times at the Albert Halls in Bolton. Always gave full value for money, with shows around five hours, and only one short interval and one guest for about twenty minutes. While he was on stage, you'd be literally laughing every 5 seconds if not more often- he had that great technique of somehow weaving a hundred one liners together into a longer joke, and held your attention totally- even when you'd been before and knew most of the jokes. Truly one of a kind.
Watching this in June 2022! It's so hard to believe this was 20 years ago, even harder to accept that Doddy and so many of his audience are no longer with us! I can't recall a day since my youth that Ken or members of his audience didn't make me laugh! One in a million in a woke world like today we will never see another of his kind! RIP Ken it's been a laugh as always.

Ken Dodd. ❤️ I'm very fortunate to have seen him live many times and on every occasion he was absolutely incredible, even into his senior years. I remember one occasion a coach load of people had to leave "early" (about midnight) and some of them were waving at him as they walked out. Ken Dodd said "Never mind bloody waving, get back to your seats." 🤣🤣🤣 RIP Doddy. No one will ever be able to replace you! Thank you for uploading this.

My mum and dad took me to see Ken at the Coventry theatre in the 60's. I remember saying to my mum to tell him to stop as my sides were aching so much from laughing. A brilliant entertainer sorely missed.
Ken Dodd, the best comedian Britain has ever had, R.I.P ken.
We could really do with a Ken Dodd today. He always brightened up the place.
No rudeness, no sexual innuendos, just pure clean fun and laughter..... that went on and on and on until the point where some theatre managers wanted to throw him out so they could close for the night. RIP Ken
Ain't that the truth
A true Gentleman! One of worlds greatest comedians! Gone but not forgotten! R I P Doddy!
What a lovely change from political videos. Ken Dodd - the best stand-up I ever saw. When I heard him he was 86 years old and he went from 8pm until after midnight. And what a superb singer.
Saw him once at Wythenshawe Forum in Manchester and he was on stage for over 3 hours it was incredible he never stopped.
God how I miss Ken Dodd. The greatest ever.
Naturally funny. Never been replaced. Saw him at the Liverpool empire as a kid in 1977.
I don't think he was a kid in 1977
Happiness to you Ken. ❤️ you're still the best in the business!
Only saw him once live, my wife and I never laughed so much. He was a True British Legend and a Gem! Such a gentleman!!
He was The World's Greatest Old School Comedian, Thank you for all the laughter and happiness you brought me over the years, Rest In Peace Doddy 🙏❤️🌹
Maybe in Britain, sure. But greatest of all time period?
Ah no, not quite. He's great and a legend but not THE best ever anywhere.
@@Fyrecide Seems like that's down to opinion bud :)
@@Jordanstonegames That's partially my point, but also, from any objective measure, he couldn't really be ranked as THE greatest.
@James Henderson he's dead leave him alone everybody supports different things maybe not all those things are right but just going to have to agree to disagree on it, I didn't support or like Margaret thatcher but I still liked going to see or watch Ken
Fyrecide b
There'll never be another Doddy! The consulate comedian, singer, artiste who understood his audience and the way to make them laugh!
CONSUMATE
Such a treasure of a man, but looking at the audience from just 2002 really brings reality to life, Not just Ken himself, but so many of the members of this audience are with us no more. Such sadness with so much happiness.
Looks like they got out while it was still legal to laugh Master Bates.
2 words that explain Ken Dodd legend and genius. This man spent his whole life making people laugh. Wish he was, still around to make us all laugh in 2021.God bless Ken ❤️
I second that.
What a talented performer - so glad he came my way!!!!
Watched for the first time in July 2020. One word uplifting.
Ken Dodd was just such an entertainer , he will be solely missed.
How very kind of him. Lovely story. Thanks for sharing
He was, a genius, now days no one can match him.

You’re right it’s so good we’ve got recordings of him. Glad you enjoyed it. So sad you never saw him live on the stage he was pure magic

Thanks
Really sad times for us all! The best generation are sadly dieing off! Truely the best!
At least Ken Dodd is resting in peace and not suffering
Oh the good old days of inuendo’s and the ability to laugh at life and ourselves without judgement….i’m so glad I was born into an era when Ken was around and could laugh until my stomach hurt…😅😂❤❤❤
There will never be another Ken Dod he was a master of comedy he was non stop with his quick wit and never needed foul language he truly was one of a kind and is missed beyond words .Thank you Sir Ken for giving us so many years of Laughter RIP you will always be a legend
KD is a one-off. Talented, witty, very quick on the uptake. A sheer joy and I'm glad I was around to enjoy his gifts.
The one and only Ken Dodd. Greatest comedian that lived and not one swear word passed his lips.
Spot on.
no doubt about that.
Proper British old school entertainer.
He was a tremendous entertainer. A fabulous comedian, a great actor and a wonderful singer. The consummate performer. God bless you Doddy
100% agree.......
@James Henderson Why was Ken a racist?
He was fantastic,no swear words,a true original talent R.I.P Ken Dodd

He was and is a one of a kind.
The greatest comedian this country has ever seen. Just incredible. We all miss you Doddy! RIP
Te good old days
Ken Dodd had amazing stamina to be on stage for such a long time.
Thank you for posting this.
It is the third time that I have watched this.
A friend was on a holiday flight with him and he performed throughout the journey and bought a drink for the passengers. Someone will remember this story. Absolutely a legend.
The man was a genius. The best of the best. Sadly missed.
The best,Liverpool’s finest.
One of the true greats for sure. I'm glad I grew up in the era I did to appreciate the brilliance of this man.
ONE OF THE GREATEST COMEDIANS EVER.
How did he do it , so effortlessly ,one in a billion, may he rest in peace with God
No swearing no,dirty jokes just pure comedy rip doddy
You mean R.I.P.
The greatest ever family entertainer. So glad I saw him live RIP funny man
The man was a genius the complete entertainer he could sing do silly dances and have audiences rolling in the aisles with laughter sorely missed RIP you were one of the greatest
Great comedian! this man was so down to earth, that was the best thing about him. A Wonderful talent lost.
What a sheer joy to watch and listen to this marvellous talented performer...he was truly fantastic and such wit and delivery
Doddy doing his ventriloquist act is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. R.I.P Ken Dodd your memory will live on forever. x
Clean as they come and hilarious with it !!!!
Saw him perform many times at the Billingham Forum and Darlington Civic. Absolute genius. Had us all in stitches.
Whitley Bay playhouse. We thought it was the end of the show at 11pm and it was only the interval....
Saw him at Southport theatre so many times and yes it was well after 1 o’clock when we came out absolutely sore with laughing. Pure genius. Miss him so much
The greatest all round entertainer and comedian this country ever produced.
Meep’s Music & Cover Songs - thank you.
Add Tommy Cooper and Morcambe and Wise to that list yes you are right all great entertainers sadly their kind we will not see again
Brian Morley - Done. How could I overlook the great Tommy Cooper.
We have lived through a terrific period of entertainment, music, comedy and Classic films too. TV is dead now! Almost back to black and white.
And the two Ronnies...
I was very lucky to see Ken twice. In one performance he told jokes non-stop for 1 hour 40 minutes. He’s a legend and there will never be another performer like him. RIP
The undisputed master of stand up comedy.
Saw ken twice, tears rolled down my legs.
He was really funny, and a lovely singer. A human encyclopaedia of jokes. I saw him twice in the 90,s. Family friendly. Truly unique, much better than today's comics.
RIP Ken Dodd. X
KEN DODD JUST A GREAT GREAT MAN, PERSONN AND LONG ENTERTAINER ALAN MARSHALL STOKE ON TRENT
Sadly they have all gone
A Master of his art giving a masterclass....
RIP Ken if I should Evan attempt to describe what I think of Ken I would be sat here all weekend and more, total Legend. Should of been awarded the VC for Comedy.
This crazy world need you back, Ken. What a tonic! Greatest ever comedian and showman.
Only one way to describe Doddy “GENIUS “
Absolutely bloody brilliant!
I was 14 when I watched this. It has so many of my heroes in it.
Broke the mould when they made ken👌🙏never be another even close to his talents, genius, like 1 of my other idols norman wisdom, god bless em,and half the audience their thts no longer here🙏♥️
Absolute legend, greatest comedian of all time. PAST PRESENT AND FUTURE.

Gone but never forgotton Rip sir ken you were one in a million and just a down to earth gent

Glad I finally found a proper comedian.

Amazing, Ken was a real national treasure, such a wonderfully bright and brilliant talent, sadly missed THE KING of COMEDY!
Ken Dodd. ❤️ I'm very fortunate to have seen him live many times and on every occasion he was absolutely incredible, even into his senior years. I remember one occasion a coach load of people had to leave "early" (about midnight) and some of them were waving at him as they walked out. Ken Dodd said "Never mind bloody waving, get back to your seats." 🤣🤣🤣
RIP Doddy. No one will ever be able to replace you!
Thank you for uploading this.
