    Just bought a 2007 KTM 640 Adventure with under 13k miles on the clock. Such a cool machine, so raw and easy to ride. This true rally 690 is stunning, thanks for the video!

      Thanks for watching. This is one of only 6 in the country, of which 3 are museum/not running display bikes. The owner of this one takes very good care of it, but actually rides it the way it's supposed to be riden and he rides pretty hard. I love seeing bikes used the way they were designed. I am led to believe by KTM that less than 100 of these are left in running condition.
      I love the simplicity and feel of the older carb bikes, guess that's why I do so much with the DR and DRz.
      Enjoy the bike, they're awesome and a dying breed.

    Please do if you find the footage, these clips with these bikes are so rare to find! Thank you!

      I'm so pissed I lost the footage. I'm thinking I might need to bride the owner to bring it back, but it's like asking to borrow his first born for a while. Actually, borrowing the kids might be easier as I can always offer to help make a replacement of them, there's no chance of getting another one of these.

    Love your work mate... Sill loving the DRZ you built too

      The DRz wide ratio big bores are awesome fun to ride, but these are completely next level. just unbelievably forgiving if you cock it up, and so strong.

    Hi what a treat! It would be a dream to have You revive my carb 525 and 950 KTMs ❤ do You know if this 690 swingarm is the same as the 950/990 of that generation?

    • @kikitomac
      @kikitomac Год назад +1

      No this swingarm fitted only on 690 Rally,

    • @teekaymotomechanical
      @teekaymotomechanical  Год назад +1

      The swing arm is specific to the RFR. The width and bearings are different to any other KTM. We would have had trouble finding main pivot bearings and sleeves because of this and there was a 3 month back order wait from Austria, but working with my local bearing shop we were able to source good quality bearings and sleeves from them and get this one sorted straight away.

    Could not imagine owning that bike and riding it !

      Yeah, while it doesn't get used very often, it does get used pretty well.
      And I'd much rather see them being used than sat in a display somewhere gathering dust.

    Thanks for the video! Do you know if the swingers is an extended 690 one?

    • @teekaymotomechanical
      @teekaymotomechanical  Год назад

      The swing arm is specific to the RFR. it is longer, has a different pivot position relative to the other EXC/690 versions and has different bearings both in width and diameters.
      It makes it a bit of a challange to source parts sometimes.
      The linkages use more common parts though.

    What did you say it had a leak from?

    • @teekaymotomechanical
      @teekaymotomechanical  11 месяцев назад

      the Gear Position Sensor, it has an o ring seal that deteriorates with heat cycles and time. really common on all the LC4 and 8 motors as well as the EXC/SX. It's easy to fix, just remove the sensor, replace the o ring and refit the sensor. takes a few minutes.

    Nice to see these old RFRs. You are very fortunate to work on that one. BTW did you advise the owner that he adjusted his chain is way to tight?

    • @teekaymotomechanical
      @teekaymotomechanical  Год назад

      these have a chain tension that looks tight when the bike is unloaded because the pivot position causes the chain to loosen as the suspension compresses. It looks a bit weird, but if you set the tension to look like a normal trail bike, it's way too loose during use.
      3-5mm of clearance measured with the swingarm completely unloaded is the way to go.

    The engine sounds bad...

    • @teekaymotomechanical
      @teekaymotomechanical  Год назад +2

      Not sure if you know what you're listening to. This is a competition engine in perfect condition and it sounds just the way it's supposed to.
      It doesn't sound like a basic 690 because it isn't one.

    I smell bullshit...why would any serious racer practice on a 690 and race on a 450????😂

      @teekaymotomechanical  11 месяцев назад +2

      I smell an idiot... you do realise this is his bike from a decade ago?
      No?
      You do realise that the name on the fairing retired from the moto class years ago?
      No?
      You do realise that my customer bought it from KTM and isn't the name on the fairing?
      No?
      Too bad you didn't decide to engage your one lonely brain cell before making a trollish comment.
