It's funny because so many of the students who attended (and are currently attending) the same university as Domics have an absolute riot watching this video and recognizing the teachers he's talking about - because they haven't changed much even 10+ years later. 😂

Form follows function is one of the most beautiful design you can see. There is no zaha hadid can replace it. Form follows function is a classic. If you look at those old engines in sports car. There are no architects or designer inventing those. The engineers created those base on form follows function and it looks so cool.

As le corbusier design Chapelle notre dame du haut, just for says " Form follow functions" is good but it's not just that architecture, i think as Vitruve "Firmitas,Utilitas(function) and Venustas (aesthetics)"...may be now "Sustanability" for our century

here's a debate of one of my profs.."forms follows function" but in actuality.. forms follows what? what is that "function".. let's say walking, (as in, a hallway) so.. you don't need to overthink that, do a hallway, right? what good fore patterns of windows to see te mountain view, or different texture or color, the "function" is walking, but you overthink "the simple process of just walking" wit the intention of making a space that creates a fealling, so practicly, forms follows "what"... or was something like that, the hallway and all that was me, but he keeps insisting on "form follows WHAT" ... that was a long one "))

I'm currently in architecture school and get critiqued for designing "normal" buildings: The buildings I design follow some metabolist-ish ideals. Isn't the point of modernism, functionality? People should embrace the engineering of a building. If you study architecture, you should have an apprenticeship in construction or artisanry. I personally despise modern architecture wich tries to aesthetically stand out, unless it has a good reason to do so. Ando for instance was a master of minimalism, but not everyone can master it.Most people study and become architects without having even known the construction of a building on site, wich is just wrong on so many levels. If you design a house for people, you should know how a house works wich requires more than just theoretical and aesthetic skills.

The problem with architecture is that it's way too complex of a job to know everything and in that way it's never perfect. Many architecture majors don't have a clue about engineering and installation part of architecture, and that shows in angry engineers. But in my opinion knowing how buildings affect people is even more crucial, and people bearly talk about it. I feel like architecture is just an artistic improv and "some other people will work out details"
