      @@neilpepito1604 I had a lot of doubts when I chose to "choose" this course. It seems like a lot of pressure especially knowing the fact that this course is based majorly on TALENT and SKILLS. I have a problem with self-confidence. I often belittle myself just by it. Another factor that I'm worried about is the financial aspect. Trying to get into an architectural school is already expensive as it is, plus all the materials needed. I feel so down about all the overthinking. I feel like I'm not good enough to push through and become an architect. :(
      Being worried about math is not as much as being worried that I'm not good enough. :(

    Do architects need to be good at drawing?
    In my experience, not necessarily. But it is a great advantage. As long as you can properly communicate visually and you can draw your design then you're good to go. Along the way, you can learn new drawing skills in architecture school and during you're apprenticeship.
    And about math, yes there are a lot of math subjects, especially engineering maths. It is for architects to understand how engineering mathematics and calculation is done.

    • @PhineasLotus
      @PhineasLotus 3 года назад

      Totally agree! Good communication is key. Math however is really a thing in university, in the proffesional field I never use any hardcore formulas anymore...

  • @indigocupcake2937

    The thing is, the only time you'll need to be good at math is while giving your entrance exam. We don't do too much math in Architecture. It's a bit less. And for drawing, it's really helpful if you are good at drawing,if you are not good at drawing then you have face a hard time learning everyone and conveying your thoughts but still you can learn drawing even while studying Architecture. So if you're not good at math or drawing don't be discouragedyou still have room to learn and learning to draw is not as hard as you think. I too was pretty bad at drawing when i joined Architecture but as I started progressing to higher semesters my drawing also improved. Architecture isa lot about making mistakes and learning, if you are not too skilled it just means you have more room for improvement. And Architecture is probably the only course where you learn about yourself while you study, everyday youll have opportunity to create something of your own, to design something of your imaginations,as the years go you'll only keep getting better

  • @simonepaige3894

    I haven't done nearly as much maths in my architecture degree as I did during high school. I was never great at maths, probably was always my worst subject in school however it has always been my dream to be an architect so I jumped into this degree. Basic maths is necessary but a lot of the maths is for specialists, engineers etc (look up your individual uni/college outlines though). There are a lot of differences between countries so I am speaking from Australian perspective. I also would not consider myself an engineer at all (yet at least).

I think engineers hate architects in a good way... most or some architects design buildings that are almost impossible to apply to the law of physics and engineers love to solve problems (me: specially math) even if 99.9999% impossible. :)

    My strength of materials professor told me that Architects should be knowing about Engineering because we should be master builders which is how it was back in the day. Like way back in the day. Master builders did the engineering and designing of everything. And I am in an Architectural Engineering degree. Hi! I just want to say that his answers in this video are a bit discouraging to aspiring architects. You don't actually need to be good at drawing or good at math to choose this career path. Everything can be learned and always remember that practice is key to mastery. The reason why people take up an architecture major is for them to learn the fundamentals of drawing and foundation of necessary math skills. Being good at drawing or math is not a guarantee that you will succeed in this major. If you're not confident with your skills then, you just have to double your effort compared to those who are already good at it. Try watching videos of Bjark Ingels and Neri Oxman for more inspiring content with regards to pursuing architecture. Good luck future architects! 👩‍🎓👨‍🎓

    Architects use to wear black when handdrafting was common because the paper was so large that you your hand/shirt would be grazing over it, so pencil led would get on your shirt. Also building models would be messy ... Now we don't have to worried about that unless we are adding ink to the plotter.

    Can architects draw structural drawings? Well, in Brazil an architect can build up to four-store buildings and the building must be approved by the construction regulations and regulatory institutions (idk how to say that), but legally they're allowed to do them? we learn how to them in college at least :p
    WAIT there's a law that forbids an architect practicing interior design in the Philippines??? WHAT
    also what we learn here in Brazil about the relationship between architecture and civil engineering (the one related to building) is that architecture is the initial (and historically older) process of creating and designing enclosured spaces, and engineering came out of it as a more "technical" support to the function of architecture. We study a lot of the stuff engineers do but we're focus on design and comfort and improving life, while engineers focus more on math.

    does architects can do architectural designs on games, graphics for movies, etc?
    Mostly I've seen or read that architects only do this building that and that bulding this. Can they also work on an industry of graphics and designs like one the gaming field or movies?

    Is architecture more often contract work, or is it more often paid-per-hour? Are there online-only telecommuting architectural drafting positions, and if so, what sites advertise them?

    Hey. I looked at the university program I applied to, and I didn't see any math courses. Could it be that there's no math for landscape architecture?

    IS ARCHITECTURE PART OF THE STEM STRAND?? YES OR NO
    OR ARTS AND DESIGN TRACK?

    • @mrmumbz
      @mrmumbz 4 года назад

      I would definitely say it falls under STEM because as mentioned it has something to do with engineering and technology. Hope that helped.

      Both can be part of it. Architecture is more on designing and drawing so it can also be part of arts and design track.
