It also doesn’t help that we live in a society where architects are not seen to be as important as engineers. Architecture is mostly seen as luxury that clients don’t need to spend on. My point is, it would be much more helpful for aspiring architects or students if they were introduced to these issues beforehand. They should be aware of the existing problems in the field so they can be prepared. Architecture is not as fancy and sophisticated as it looksin the movies lol. You see, broken expectations can often lead to broken spirits. It takes a lot of patience, hard work, thick skin and even network and chance to make it in this industry. Or maybe, I’m just of one of those sad and frustrated architects who unfortunately experienced the other spectrum of Philippine architecture . Lol. That said, good job on your channel. Wish your tips were around when i was still in school. 👍
I'm also a licensed architect here in the PH and what you said is true. Architects are undervalued here in the PH. Most of them Lalo na sa aming municipality (since we have a very small town), sinasabi na our field is similar with civil engineers and we are the ones who draw and the civil will be the ones to design and build. Like it's hard to explain the same thing over and over again.
Because most of us Architects here in the Philippines are technically good but lacking in the marketing and communication skills. Some would even reason out - "let your drawings speak for yourself". well, yes...but still we have to SPEAK and communicate well to attract Clients. And social media is one platform. And yes it took me quite a long while to figure it out...anyway, lets continue informing the public about our profession and I've started my channel just a month ago. pls check it out 😊
That's I gues the no. 1 fear, finding clients especially now a days that everything is getting more expensive which is the top concern. I was so astounded to see a piece of wood, the one you use as bed room flooring it cost almost 300 per piece. If you'll be needing like 50 of it. 300 x 50 = 15000. Hell for that alone. Not to mention the architects fee. So you better be employed for a very long time, change all the childish shits you have and plan everything if you wanna be a freelance architech one day.
Architecture in my philosophy is about continuous creating and discovering. It's a continuous process of learning and experiencing various ups and downs as an Architect. It's an activity or a profession where you can explore the depths of your creativity and potential to incorporate that into a reality.
Architecture is the most practical manifestation of the least practical dreams and ideas we have as human beings for living, working, playing, and procreating.
Architecture, I believe, needs a lot of passion. I'm an Architecture student myself and currently struggling through my final year. It's been a train wreck of emotions because being a designer means you have to always face criticism. It's up to you to take in the harsh comments and improve yourself or to stand your ground and convince the lecturers, clients or boss, why your idea is good. I cried many nights, looked over at my drawings thinking I can never be good enough. I used to be very passionate in designing but slowly it became a chore, especially when you have time constraints and need to meet the demand of other people. I cannot even say that after finishing my studies, I will land a good job in a good company with a good pay. It's a terrifying thought, especially after spending so much on study materials. Surely there's no reward? But if you're passionate enough, you will see fruits in small details. Through Architecture school I learned to listen to people, to take in criticism and turn it around. I learned to explain my ideas, aspirations and imagination to people through drawings using both manual skills and computer aid. I look back at my drawings and think, "Wow, I made that." One day, I hope I can say the same while looking at a constructed building.

ARCHITECTURE IS LIFE-SAVER! I was depressed. I've been in the darkest place I could ever been. I lost track to my life. Basically, I had an empty mind to plan my future that time. And sometimes that void inside me still comes back and make relapse but architecture saved me, dreaming about getting a degree in it one day is a goal I would forever be proud of. :( Share ko lang po, watching your videos inspire me so much, Sir! :)

When I was a student, I don't do overnight drafting since I do most of it during the provided drafting hours at school or the vacant hours. My classmates do a lot of overnight drafting because they tend to procrastinate a lot. The trick is you really have to manage your time and use it wisely coz you still have to study for other subjects. As for my designs, its always simple and straightforward to provide a solution to the design problem. Being an architect is really not my passion but I'm still smart enough just to continue being one. If I had known that this is what being an architect is, then I would've chosen another path, which I am currently looking at now.
Same, architecture is aslo not my passion but for some reason i ended up here, i also want to continue it but now im already doubting because money also matters to me and a lot of forums, sites, and profs are saying that architevture dont earn much money and if i want to become rich i must leave architecture, i am now in 2nd yr college and planning to shift
Exams don't really mean anything when studying architecture. To get the best jobs your major design studio projects should be imaginative and unique. Good make also don't make you a better architecture student. The students that will be hired and get better jobs are the ones that have the technical skills whilst also having the imagination to think of something unique which is valuable to their firm. They don't want people with basic skills because it's likely they will already have people to do that.
Hey Llyan, you just got a new subscriber.. As for a third year architecture student, what I believe to be the answer of What is Architecture? - It's the Knowledge & Action that creates the most suitable building for a certain purpose beautifully. But man, I wish I knew your channel earlier, but I guess I'm not too late.. keep it up!
Architecture is the balance of creativity and logic. It the love child of art and civil engineering. Architects are the masters of creativity and logic.
I watched your vlog about architect, until now. And also, architect na talaga gusto ko. Paiba-iba kasi yung gusto kong course, nung una army, sunod doctor/nurse, then architect pero so on si architect ang lamang. But iniisip ko ngayon, ARCHITECT ba talaga? Ps, hihihi andami kong sabi nohh. Thank you, sir 💛
Architecture is when being near a structure, in a structure or even seeing it in a book or a screen can catch your breath and your heart for a moment and the world is silent. Architecture is a feeling that can be shared though time and distance that provides us with opportunity to improve the functionality of our lives.
amazing video!!!!! currently, a rising undergraduate junior studying architecture. Architecture is problem-solving through the process of design in order to create a space in which people can interact with.
For me, architecture is an amazing course which I wish to strive. It's a thing where creativity is needed and as well logic - I actually find architect amazing because there are many buildings in these world which have different characteristics and structure and guess who designed them? Architects! My definition of architecture may change time to time but my love for it will not ❤ I'm a Grade 9 student and I wish to be an Architect someday hehe. Good video btw hehe ❤
Hey , I am 1st year architecture student . While going through all comments section i found many things i can relate but my philosophy as a individual it is all about your creative and being practical to explore and discover. If might be funny but its about discovering yourself to some extent as being the student of architecture : " every one of us is the architect of our own fortune" with all determination and hardwork. So, its not an easy subject subject we choose but not that tough enough because you can love yourself. Coz Architecture is You and you are change maker about making choices. Huge world to live and survive. ❤️ Wishing everyone a good luck 😊 #Stay positive and #work hard 😁
Dat clap counter tho 😂 This vid was comforting, atleast for me. I'm in my 3rd year of architecture school and every plate has me torn apart with wanting to give up. I'm not really good at the drawing department but I really love architecture and how it makes people feel these emotions. How I get goosebumps when I see structures that really blow me away. And I wanna do that for other people too. That's why I try my best to get better at my weak points hehe and it's cool that you talk about it so casually that it makes your viewers laugh while learning. Hoping for more videos poooo :) more power!
I can't speak a straight English language so please bear with me hehe. I always re-read my portfolio in English (when I was 10th grade of highschool and I'm taking STEM in shs this year). I always remembered my answer in "What I Am Studying For?" question kineme ng English teacher namin. I don't know why I write my answer like " I am studying because I want to be/ I decided to become an archi in the future to change a gray cabinet into a yellow cabinet" and I think, for me being an Architect or Architecture is not just like renovating a house, buildings.. but also like renovating or repairing a house that full of sadness into a colorful and lovely one like changing a person with a sad face into a happy one. Creating or contructing a building that can lift anyone's feeling when they see it. That's my philosophy kineme po haha. PS: You really inspired me to be one of the successful architect in the future. Thank you for being a BIG INSPIRATION to me💙 PSS: Bilang nangangarap, handa po akong dumausdos at mahirapan to get my dream. Kase I know na mas lalong masarap tamuhin ang success kung pinaghirapan :)

just finished applying for college (architecture program) and I know it'll be a rough road ahead but nothing's gonna stop me! thanks for inspiring us aspiring architects!
It’s different for EVERYONE, so dont really let people influence your perception on how it is once you graduate. The schools around my area help you land an internship after you finish your undergrad, which is pretty impressive tbh, and my own school holds frequent architecture job fairs throughout the year. A lot, if not, all of my friends who have graduated recently have landed a decent paying job (around $40k-45k) straight out of college, and some even landed higher paying jobs by using their degree to land other jobs in a different field (one of them went off to work for Apple, I’m not sure how but hey, he’s happy). Just remember that an architecture degree is a very well rounded degree so you’re not limited to just one kind of job! Use that degree to its full potential.
@@55inchSamsungTV this is true the course will lead you to a different jobs and your passion :) architecture is wide different fields and not just being an architect but you can be any of a job! well if you finished it or maybe part time on your summer

Not to break everyone's expectation but I am going to give a little "dark" insight regarding architecture practice here on PH. The 10% fee the AR gets from the project construction cost seems very promising and inspiring, but little did everyone know that the 10% is somehow not being practiced for most of our colleagues because "most" clients are seeing it to be very expensive. If you have closed a deal with a full 10% fee then you are very lucky but on most cases the client negotiates to lower the price down to 5% to 3% or worst case scenario 1%. (Yes! It happens.) 😔 The standard perception of us architects here on PH on the people's eyes are very low like many do not even know that architects's existed, instead they hire CE to do architectural works (no hate to our allied professions). So I hope that the future number of architects here on PH will lift up the standards of our profession in par with other countries. To those who are going to take up architecture course, I wish you luck! Pursue it if you really want it. One last advice when you take up architecture, be prepared to be broken physically and mentally. Bwahahahaha Just kidding! Hahaha. Good luck! ❤
I am 16 years old, I am just a senior high school student. For me, my definition of architecture is, it is summation of art and structure. It is also the creator of ladder that makes us climb up and improve. In this quarantine I am starting falling In love in the field of design, and I ask myself, if I would be an architect what would I do? The first thing that popped up in my head is the word IMPROVEMENT. Trying and thinking the things that will make a big impact in the environment of today not just in my country, but all. The second is STABILISATION. Improvement and stabilisation is some how contradicting words, if I would be an architect I want to improve the things that we have and stabilise the nature. Architecture should build a lot of things without destroying something. Specially the things that is here before us. Improvement and stabilisation, that is what architecture means to me.
Architecture for me is like meeting the fantasy and the reality, that connects the people wants and need, and also molded our society. Also im incoming architecture student so excited at the same time anxious🤞😦 hoping for the best.
Architecture is the response to your surroundings. It is the art of keeping up with the current trends and recognising the future ones so that we can respond to its needs accordingly. Atleast, that's what I believe it is.
Architecture is that point where the imagination an creativity of a child meets reality.being constantly shaped and evolved by maths physics and ofcourse in the given situation technology. Thank you
I am an Mozambican architecture student, you've been helping me a lot with your videos! Thanks. The bad thing about architecture is the refund/salary, specially in countries like mine.
Hey Llyan i don't comment much but do enjoy watching videos on RUclips. This one is my first ever comment on a RUclips video ! Well, here is an exception because you've asked the most important question to the people connecting to architecture community. What is Architecture? To me philosophically "Architecture is a way of life, that evolves with your own experience."
Another important thing in architecture (in any field in general) is connection !!!!!!! Know your people ! Skills are important but so are your contacts. I'm raised in the construction field and so I'm blessed with a big connection with people in and out of the industry. My mother has always told me to make every person you interact with count as one day they will also have your backs. Trust me, the construction industry is full of amazing people willing to help each other grow !
Im from india and here in India we have bachelor's of architecture for 5 freaking years and I'm in the 4th year right now and doing internship , I would love a video on "is marsters in architecture necessary" , " masters in architecture" , "which country is best for architecture student who can earn more after bachelors" .
Hey pal! I felt bad for not being first today due to some reasons but I'll try my best nextweek! 1 year to go and I'm step closer to fulfilling my dreams as an architect😍
I took a break from architecture for a couple months to restore my historic home. I’m showing it on my channel and honestly I’m loving the physical work that goes into design
When I was Architecture Student, I had good in lettering and poor drawing and poor design. But thanks God, though Architecture major courses are difficult and subjective, I PASSED ALL THE SUBJECTS. Those times I lacked in motivations in designing because of fear. Until now (yet I am not licensed) I still looking forward to motivate myself to draw and design. As the years passed by, my time and passion were wasted. I lost my appetite to draw, I still have my sketchbooks but unused for many months years. Hopefully I will start my drawing skills again and again even Im getting older.
EXCELLENT VIDEO! I live in a pre-fabricated house here in West Palm Beach, Florida, a Sears-Robuck kit that my mother and I believe was originally built in the early 1930s. Regrettably, building records from long ago are nearly impossible to procure now because the county has a practice of burning their records every decade. However, even though it was a Sears kit done in the "Craftsman" style, it is clear that someone put a lot of time and care into how it was built. It feels like a proper home instead of a product. For instance, the floors are made out of Dade County pine, a wood that is now extinct. More modern structures can be beautiful, there just needs to be care.
been watching a lot of vids about architecture, i want to know everything about it before i take it on college, i need to know if its worth it or nah, or will it make me a rich woman in the future. for me, i should not take something that i "just" love, i might choose something that will make my family have a better life. so im kinda nervous, really.
I knew you were Filipino! Thanks for your videos. I am actually taking Architecture in PUP this June so I'll need all the information I can get. More power to you sir!

Architecture gives me a lot of doubts 😔 but it's my dream. Thank you for this video, it gave me a glimpse about the possibilities. Incoming freshmen here😫
Architecture in my own philosophy is a practice that brings beauty and style in our world where it can also provide shelter for the people and for the industry. It requires the Architect's skill of design and imagination to create something worthwhile and helpful for the people.

if you put urself in the right situations and learn from it u will get over it i mean u have to if u think about it every field requires you to be some sort of confident
Yes it is a disadvantage, but lucky for you, it is easy to get over shyness:) Believe it or not, i used to be very shy, but i tried so hard to get over it by having a ton of awkward conversations with people, and eventually i got used to talking to people:)
Wow! Thank you all. It is a really big help for me to overcome my shyness. I'm just afraid of what people might think about me and they might don't appreciate me and my works. Architecture is giving life to a spaces. Where the space actually do a work.
Great definition pal!!:)
Share ko lang po, watching your videos inspire me so much, Sir! :)

"watching anime whenever you're stress about architecture school" AaaaaaAaaAaa SO ME 😂😂😂
Haha those anime's often make me procrastinate:)
Me too😅😂
Faxx
undr what strand ang archi?
When I was a student, I don't do overnight drafting since I do most of it during the provided drafting hours at school or the vacant hours. My classmates do a lot of overnight drafting because they tend to procrastinate a lot. The trick is you really have to manage your time and use it wisely coz you still have to study for other subjects. As for my designs, its always simple and straightforward to provide a solution to the design problem. Being an architect is really not my passion but I'm still smart enough just to continue being one. If I had known that this is what being an architect is, then I would've chosen another path, which I am currently looking at now.
That's great pal!!:)
I've set my goals. I'LL FREAKING BE IN THE TOP 1O BOARD EXAM PASSER!
Great definition pal!:)
I watched your vlog about architect, until now.
And also, architect na talaga gusto ko. Paiba-iba kasi yung gusto kong course, nung una army, sunod doctor/nurse, then architect pero so on si architect ang lamang.
But iniisip ko ngayon, ARCHITECT ba talaga?
Ps, hihihi andami kong sabi nohh. Thank you, sir 💛
Ilang ulit ko ng napanood tong vlog na to then paulit-ulit-ulit-ulit hanggang sa college na ako haha 🤦♀️🤣
Architecture is not merely about designs and making beautiful buildings. Architecture should be able to calm you, exxcite you, and make you think.
Architecture is when being near a structure, in a structure or even seeing it in a book or a screen can catch your breath and your heart for a moment and the world is silent. Architecture is a feeling that can be shared though time and distance that provides us with opportunity to improve the functionality of our lives.
Architecture for me is to express Ur feeling not in words bt with a visual connect ..that is a form
amazing video!!!!!
currently, a rising undergraduate junior studying architecture.
Architecture is problem-solving through the process of design in order to create a space in which people can interact with.
Good luck with your studies pal, and great definition!!:)
For me, architecture is an amazing course which I wish to strive. It's a thing where creativity is needed and as well logic - I actually find architect amazing because there are many buildings in these world which have different characteristics and structure and guess who designed them? Architects! My definition of architecture may change time to time but my love for it will not ❤
I'm a Grade 9 student and I wish to be an Architect someday hehe. Good video btw hehe ❤
Hey ,
I am 1st year architecture student . ❤️
Wishing everyone a good luck 😊

I'm not really good at the drawing department but I really love architecture and how it makes people feel these emotions. How I get goosebumps when I see structures that really blow me away. And I wanna do that for other people too. That's why I try my best to get better at my weak points hehe and it's cool that you talk about it so casually that it makes your viewers laugh while learning.

Thank you for being a BIG INSPIRATION to me💙

Yeah that is one of the downsides of architecture:)
@@55inchSamsungTV what's the name of your school is it prestigous
@@55inchSamsungTV this is true the course will lead you to a different jobs and your passion :) architecture is wide different fields and not just being an architect but you can be any of a job! well if you finished it or maybe part time on your summer

It seem like you're my prof hahaha i started last month to sketched and i saw that progress i'm so happy! Keep on making videos sir so i could increase more knowledge n skill about archi. God bless!
(Yes! It happens.) 😔
The standard perception of us architects here on PH on the people's eyes are very low like many do not even know that architects's existed, instead they hire CE to do architectural works (no hate to our allied professions). So I hope that the future number of architects here on PH will lift up the standards of our profession in par with other countries.
To those who are going to take up architecture course, I wish you luck! Pursue it if you really want it.
One last advice when you take up architecture, be prepared to be broken physically and mentally. Bwahahahaha

It is the art of keeping up with the current trends and recognising the future ones so that we can respond to its needs accordingly.

i don't comment much but do enjoy watching videos on RUclips.

I took a break from architecture for a couple months to restore my historic home. I’m showing it on my channel and honestly I’m loving the physical work that goes into design
There is an overflow of architect graduates now. watch out
When I was Architecture Student, I had good in lettering and poor drawing and poor design.
Hi, since its been a year can I get an update?
I'm a high school student ..... I love architecture but I'm not that much good at drawing !

You gotta practice pal:) with enough practice you can become good at drawing:)

Actually, kuya I am really a shy person and I always got very nervous when I talked with other people or interact with them. So, I'm asking if is this a disadvantage for me who want to become an architect?
I guess so! because you will have to talk with ur clients and convince them
if you put urself in the right situations and learn from it u will get over it i mean u have to if u think about it every field requires you to be some sort of confident
Yes it is a disadvantage, but lucky for you, it is easy to get over shyness:) Believe it or not, i used to be very shy, but i tried so hard to get over it by having a ton of awkward conversations with people, and eventually i got used to talking to people:)
