As a 14 year old who aspires to be an architect, thank you so much! I am only a rising sophomore right now, but I like planning my future. I’ve just watched so many of your videos and I’ve settled that architecture is something I would really like. 😊
Thank you for this video. I am 48. I watched this while having lunch for two reasons: In fond memory of my late cousin who was a professor of architecture and a practicing architect. And the second reason was to confirm that I did the right thing back in 1991 when I decided what I wanted to study and decided to stay away from anything engineering or humanities.
As an architecture student, these skills are really helpful to me. At first or second year in my university, I try so hard and waste a lot of time to figure out how to begin studying some of these skills in an effective way. After seeing your video, I think I should change the way to study it better and better. Thanks a lot for sharing!
I'm a physics undergrad in my senior year (at Brazil) so your content doesn't apply to my reality, but it's so good that I watched it! :DD Keep up with the good stuff, Dami!!
Funny enough I watched this video before I started school and now I’m in my fifth and final year. I just realized how many of your tips saved me from sleepless nights and allowed me to have a much smoother college experience. Thank you
I’m taking an architecture class in high school right now and we’re using revit, and I think it’s a really great tool to use since it’s fairly simple to navigate and it helps with creating floor plans and visualizing the 3D view of your project. I’d also recommend using inventor as a beginner CAD program since it’s what I used in my drafting class last year and it helped me understand isometric views and develop basic foundations of structures. I’m definitely going to try to do some of your tips to help me prepare for architecture school!
I’m only 14 but I think about architecture every single day since I was 12 and I want to know how to be ready for everything your videos are educating me and are helpful thank you❤

Hi Dami, I'm recently entering the Arch world as a product manager in the tech world previously. Your videos and tips and all the resources provided along them are really helpful, I just wanna say thank you and really looking forward to more videos! (I know you had made similar videos, but)personally wishes more videos about the realistic architect world for those who are new to this industry, such as how are the departments divided into? what is each of the department's key roles and required skills? etc. so the beginners would have a better vision about what skills need to be learned and enhanced to be qualified in the upcoming years. Thanks again!
Im not an architecture student, i wont be, and i never will be. Yet here i am, looking up what i would need for architecture school if i ever would apply.
I'm 23 yrs old and I've had the passion to wanna make concepts and schematics for structures since I was a kid.. I've fell in love with architecture and i was really intrigued by all the complex malls and buildings In my district. But it got real for me when I played farcry in the early 2000s and got my young hands on a map editor.. the endless energy I poured Into making ideas and concepts for buildings, houses. Even Sci fi and apocalyptic settings.. I've eventually learned it's better to draw my ideas on paper to get a more general understanding of what I want to create, doing full week projects every opportunity I could, which was pretty much after I was done with hw🤣. Now since I'm older I taught my self a decent understanding of perspective drawing and human anatomy/ reference cuz I'm quite fascinated on those subjects. But perspective drawing is what really caught my eye.. These days I can't help but look at my surroundings alot, and I love looking at buildings that are well designed, even entering some if allowed. I'm always mentally absorbing information and asking questions about its structure, why things are placed in certain positions and never get bored thinking about em.. And I believe that enthusiasm to the creation of things Is why I want to pursue this career path in architecture.. I want to create something myself. A place for people to actually walk into, to admire and appreciate. And put a smile in there face when they see something that catches there eye, or to just be shocked by an interesting room or walking area.. Im positively sure I couldn't get bored with having ideas for projects because Its something I've been doing all this time without even realizing it.. creativity is in all our blood, it's just about finding the right passion and motivator to unlock it. And I just have this feeling that I'm making the right choice with this career.. if I do ill be the first in my family to have a successful backstory😅. Thank u for the motivation and lessons❤
i'm a first year arch student, and omlllll the info. overload i got was crazy!! just learning these new things made me take 1000x longer to do projects.
I honestly didn't know what to do with my life but there was one thing I knew which is that I love design. in love to see how the house or building structures are made the color schemes I love 3d modeling that I thought maybe I could be an animator. I appreciate art too. I'm in high school and I am still thinking about my career my parents tell me to become a doctor, but I don't like sciences...other close relatives told me that I should become a data scientist, or anything related to computer science and technology because it has scope and will also have in the future and I made up my mind to do computer science but my heart is leaning towards architecture, I saw other few videos of people and they had so much negativity about it in their videos so I thought maybe I shouldn't go for it. but after watching couple of your videos, I feel like I want to just go for it. from what I learnt from your videos you have to learn this software for 3d modeling which I love, I love to do photography I like to learn about art. I like to create things and bring them to life. Can you please give your insight whether I should go for it or not. Maybe like a push to go for it... I realized this is 2 yrs. video old but I hope you see this comment and maybe reply to pls.
I'm not the creator but if there is something your heart tell you that you wanna do, go for it. Because you only have one life, spend it wisely as you should be happy and proud of what your doing. These are just my thoughts, but the final decision is up to you ;)
I'm in second year architecture, in a university that is kind well known for their architectural course. And I tell you, the all nighters are crazy real. And even if it can feel like literal hell sometimes, it's really, REALLY enjoyable

Another way to design something and be creative is to design something in minecraft, it provides a medium for people, especially younger people to express their creativity in a different way apart from sketching, Of course sketching is much more useful in architecture, but i think that it is a good tool to start with.
no really don't. you can't design on a computer. you first need pen and paper. and cut your nails haha. i have no idea how she can work creatively with those nails tbh ...

I am an architect from Lithuania, Europe, I think the same age:D and I just say thank you that you are talking about all of this. In my schoold year I did not have any youtube chanel as yours. Thank you! Because everything what you said is truth, I had a lot of struggle in the first year too, second year I got that one building and I think new tutors - pro architects, who broke my personal code and let me think more and put all myself in project. Make it like a baby:D But it is very dangerous in real life... not very good for mental health in long perspective. Time managment and mental helath I think are the most important skills, because as you said, you can not wait till the fasinating idea comes into life, you have to work for it and hard and always with plan, see the next step. And take care of your phisical and mental health - sometimes it is the same as you said cardio for example or yoga. Thank you one more time and I am very happy for finding your chanel. I will share it with my students in lectures.

As a 14 year old who aspires to be an architect, thank you so much! I am only a rising sophomore right now, but I like planning my future. I’ve just watched so many of your videos and I’ve settled that architecture is something I would really like. 😊
I’m scared but excited. Finally I’ve selected my lifelong career and I’m so excited for my future.
Future Architect Here!! ✨
Hahaha. Love the end. Thanks for the tips. I'm getting started on architecture school, so this is super helpful!
graduating this may!!!, wish I had this 5 yrs ago. everything you mentioned is so true and still applies. love your videos!!!
Thank you and congrats on finishing your studies!!! That's a big milestone ^^
I’m only 14 but I think about architecture every single day since I was 12 and I want to know how to be ready for everything your videos are educating me and are helpful thank you❤
As a student in architecture school for the third year..I still didn't have that project to give me passion again, but finding this video made me have more courage ..thank you ❤
I'm gonna start my dream Architecture course by this August. Thanks for your useful tips.
We need a video on how to win clients, their projects, doing joint ventures of different developers and builders. And how to finance a project is a very important skill.
I wish I had found this before I started studying architecture. Definitely going to start practising these skills, thank you so much!!
You know.. this channel is just a vibe. I am professionally a post career detective, turned criminal defense investigator, and a hobbyist mechanic/welder, who is obsessed with cyberpunk, details, cultures, and sketching 🤣. Cool channel 👌
trying to fill my feed with more architecture stuff and I found Dami, satisfying my feeds lol 😂
aspiring architecture here 🇵🇭 looking forward for more architecture content in the future 💯💯💯
Yay! Thanks for joining me!
I'll take this video as "skills you can still improve after your diploma" !
And the "think by doing" thing I'm still struggling with to be honest, but it makes so much sense when you say it like that. I wish I realised before !
I'm an architect student and also I'm learning English, and you speak really clearly I like your channel. You have a new subscriber!
Thanks! Keep watching videos and practicing 😁
I love watching these videos of female architects. It really helps to see people like yourself doing what you want to do!
I'm going into architecture school this fall!! Thank you so much for your video! Super helpful!!
No problem, and good luck!!
omg.... legit your channel is so underrated! THANK YOU SO MUCH AND PLEASE KEEP IT UP. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!!
Thanksss 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you so much it's very useful and on time as I'm gonna start architecture course on this upcoming September .
I'm going to start in August
Basically later this month
As a 14 yrs old, who loves to be an architect
You’re perfect thank you ❤️
Lots of time for you to practice architecture! 😊
Totally digging the henna hands Dami. Love your channel AND your style.
I was genuinely curious about the q-tip tho loll you got me right there 😂 Anyway, thanks for your content, I'm happy I stumble upon this channel. I'm a 2nd year architecture student btw 😉
hahah I just HAD to add that part. (glad you found it funny ^^) no problem at all, hope you're enjoying school so far!!
Doodling is really important. Sometimes I'll sketch up an idea on the spot and have that be a step pad for a larger conversation. Sketching also helps keep notes.
I usually will make the video run 2x or 1.5x faster due to the video is 20 minutes. I felt like I don't have time. need to hurry. but your content is one of my fav content that teach me how to grow. so I run them in normal speed because I enjoy the video. thank you for your quality content. love it Ar Dami
I love that all her covers for these type of videos have the word "run" hahaha so clever
Congratulations on your success and hard work and thank you sooo much for helping so many people with these resources!
OMG, I laughed so hard at the end! Thank you so much for these videos, I cannot adequately express how much of a help they are, they're so approachable, and full of wonderful insights!
Hahah that's awesome. My pleasure!!
Im not sure if you are of aware, but your timing/pausing when you speak is amazing.
Imagine finding this after your 1 semester into architecture? Hmmmmmmmmm. I love what you do. I am for sure going to watch more of your videos
That's not late at all. Good luck, hope you're enjoying it 😊
After a semester of not having ANY architecture course in my community college due to high demand and this upcoming semester with only 1 of the 4 classes you have mentioned in your class. Good thing I found your channel just 16 days before classes start haha. Hopefully all goes well
I just discovered your channel! I am taking survey of architecture over the summer. I am a history buff and a minoring in historic preservation, and majoring in fine arts, painting, and drawing so I very much appreciate all of the technical information because I feel my career it will be very important for me to connect with architects and interior designers in the future.
A huge thank you for this video this is going to be a great advantage before going to university 🙏🏻
Thanks!
As a 15 year old thinking about my future, this really helps. Thank you!
I am 14yo but i am leaning to architecture and your channel is makin it easier thank you
Happy to help!
I'm here to say that I LOVE THE THUMBNAIL😆🙌 hahahaha Architecture is a roller coaster so buckle up future Archis 💕

Im sad i found your channel only 5 days before i start architecture school, but im glad i found it! Great video!
That's exciting! Good luck with the first few days of architecture school 😊
@@DamiLeeArch thank you so much.

Thank u for the motivation and lessons❤
same im 23 and im pursuing architecture
Dami, the last idea is the most needed. I love it!!!!
i'm a first year arch student, and omlllll the info. overload i got was crazy!! just learning these new things made me take 1000x longer to do projects.
even if programs are just a tool, it makes a big difference in your workflow!! at least it can save you some sleepless nights ^^
@@DamiLeeArch yup, im in the 2nd term now, so now that i have gotten the hang of it, everything is so much quicker XD
Nice!!! 👌👌👌
Love your mehndi girl. Thanks for the advice definitely going to focus on these 6 skills for the next 6 months.
hey thanks for this RUclips channel i think i can finally know that i want to be an architect someday because of the way you explain this to me thank you so much its my first encounter of ur channel and this is the first video that worth my time and energy to spend on new subscriber here
My instructor was literally telling us that our studio projects were our babies! Also this channel is great, your content is top-notch.
Your old video is much helpful than the new one 😢.
But the all really good, thank u for all ❤
Just found your channel. Seriously, it helps to hear others express their thoughts and experiences. Am doing honors and finding some difficulty. Thanks for the advice
No problem!! Glad you're finding it helpful 😊
A prospective architecture student here taking a gap year. Am definitely going to spend my time following your advices!
Welcome! Hope you're enjoying your gap year! 😊
Another way to design something and be creative is to design something in minecraft, it provides a medium for people, especially younger people to express their creativity in a different way apart from sketching, Of course sketching is much more useful in architecture, but i think that it is a good tool to start with.
Hmmm interesting!! Great tip!
no really don't. you can't design on a computer. you first need pen and paper.
and cut your nails haha. i have no idea how she can work creatively with those nails tbh ...
@@frederikc_ What a shame the simple concept of working with nails is beyond your understanding
Skill issue
I've tried bloxburg from roblox, and I think it's really helpful in visualising the design of the building. Too bad you need to pay to play the game
I can't thank you much enough for all the help and tips in your contents. Will be enrolling Architecture next month thank youuu 💖
very exciting!! good luck, and no problem :)
That last part about the q-tips was hilarious. You have beautiful eyes, be careful please lol
Thank you for the channel it’s really helpful.
I’m a 54 year old carpenter waiting on a decision on acceptance as a mature student to architecture degree, if I get accepted I’ll be using your tips, thank you.
Wow how inspiring. You might already know this, but Peter Zumthor (one of my fav architects) apprenticed under a carpenter, and you can tell by his materiality and attention to details 😁
I hadn’t heard of him. Checked out his work very interesting, thanks.
Nice skill development video Dami. Wow it really does make an ordinary person who loves drawing to want to become an architech. All the best my friend. Your a wonderful lecturer.
your account is literally the best. It is SOOOOO helpful
this definitely deserves more likes!!
aw thank you!!! plz share with your friends! :)
i'm 16 and it's summer i'll start practicing those skill along with maths, physic, history and geography so by the end of highschool i'll go into an architecture school, wish me good luck!
I have adopted my own method. I just need to practice the interior design.? Thank you DamiLee for sharing your views.

I just found your channel, I’m a junior in high school and I want to study architecture so I’m super exited to se more content from you🥰
That's so good to here! It's very cool that you found your calling so early in life! Thanks for joining me 😊
Thank you for ALL those tips but also for talking about the mental helth. U can't do anything If u are really stress about everything.
100%!!!
i regret that I only discover your videos recently. Thank you for the nice content!
Thank you, God, for this lady 🙏🏾💛💯
