  • I installed the Unplugged Performance Brake Cooling Kit a few months back- and now I finally tested it on the track, or at least compared it to running the car in the past...

Gosh, last track video I personally saw didn't show any overtake. Now that's a quantum leap! Your work paid off. Plaid track proven AF and all of us proud!

In a more advanced group now as well, passing is permitted pretty much anywhere

Awesome Run Todd. Next mod is the driver's Bucket seat. You'll be more planted. You can outrun those cars in two laps . Cant wait to take my Plaid to the track

The harness holds me pretty good- but I could see a seat helping… just not sure I’m ready to do that to my car!

speculating about the battery pack temp colour . Its documented track mode has increased regen to reduce load on the friction brakes for better thermal management of the brakes ( straight from the tesla site , worth a read ) . Increased regen power adds heat to the pack if brakes are hot , increased regen , which is like fast charging charging at 150 - 200kw for the short periods of deceleration adds heat to the pack. combined with the discharge on acceleration , would likely result in battery temps quickly going into orange and red.
Now the brakes are staying cooler/cooling down quicker , its possible trackmode uses less regen to keep ideal battery pack temp for longer . Not sure if you would feel less deceleration as it may blend in friction brakes to maintain constant lift off accelerator pedal feel . One way to know for sure , set up a scan my tesla obd scanner to log regen power and various temps from the car , would be cool to see some data from a track session either way .
How long are you usually in track mode before heading out on to track ? I ask because , trackmode(tesla site) "drops the temperature of the battery pack and motors to create a significant amount of chilled thermal mass, in anticipation of lots of heat generation from discharge and regen"
the guys at unplugged will definitely know all the details of track mode from the development of Dark helmet .

Thank for the feedback and thoughts- very interesting.
To answer your question: I’m in track mode for approx 15-20m before each track session (pre-staging)… and the battery almost always reaches “peak performance” according to the message on the dash.

Will you do the new plaid track pack that just dropped? I wonder for plaids already with aftermarket carbon ceramics.
If the local tesla service center will allow you to unlock the top speed if you also install just the new wheel&tire package? 🤔

Just installed the brake duct kit but I get some rubbing on the hoses like you did. Really want to be able to go full steering lock as it’s my daily. Did you ever add spacers?
