These were all good ones! I still like buying nice things but I appreciate more and more the simple things and moments. I used to have fear of missing out but now I savour moments alone. I’ve grown more bold as I’ve matured that’s for sure. I still think about others but I’m less apologetic for being me. I speak as a teacher but public speaking is still something I would love to overcome. I find if I’m well-versed and passionate about something it can be easier. All of them are really good. And it’s almost never too late :) learning about yourself never stops! :)
Randy I’ve been following you on social media for quite a few years now. This is so good because when we get older we start to figure out what is important in life. I had a rude awakening and hard lesson on what is important in this life when I was 26. My baby girl was 20 days old when her father died suddenly with a brain tumour that no one knew he had. It was a struggle 🙏 but my life changed for the better when a guy that was my friend married me & raised my daughter. We have a son together and thankfully I had enough sense to put my children first before a job. Fortunately my husband made a good living so I only worked part time. From that experience I learned that my family was the most important relationships in my life. 42 years later we are still growing strong - two responsible adult children that are a pleasure to be around, and never been in any serious kind of trouble. I remember and think of it often of a plaque that hung in an office of a general store in the rural community that I grew up in that said “Too old too soon, too late too smart” That pretty much sums it up! PS You are doing a good job for an introvert 😀
How do you balance taking risks and embracing vulnerability with trusting to your instincts? My instincts often tell me to avoid risk and to protect myself. But I feel like I've missed out on opportunities because of that. And then I feel like I can't trust my instincts because they cause me to miss opportunities.
Regret is a damaging useless emotion. When you live in the past you get depressed when you live in the future you're anxious better to live in the present but to be conscious of your future self. Really appreciate your cander and sound perspective 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
this really helps alot, especially since I'm currently studying policing. I'm committed to implementing all the tips you've provided, and I genuinely appreciate the guidance. Thanks for your support! and giving out information.
These are sound teaching Randy and those of us who get it have lived it. My experience, people will only learn through experience. A quote I really love about being introverted (which I am)... "You think you're an introvert because you like being alone, but in reality you just love being at peace. You're actually extroverted around those who bring you peace.
My youngest son goes to the gym he doesn’t have wood to cut and get his energy out. Gym keep my son sane. My oldest is a mailman so he get a lot of exercise .. Learning from mistakes and life changing events. Be humble and be thankful for everything that is given to you. Accept change, sometimes we don’t want to change but everything in life is temporary. I’m a dog owner and this wasn’t a decision that I wanted a dog. I adopted Ruby (dog) she was my boyfriend’s dog. He died from Cancer in 2021. None of his family members wanted her and I couldn’t bear to take her to the Humane Society. This was a change in my lifestyle because I used to be a cyclist. I gave up a lot things in my life but it’s all good. She’s brought stability for me and gets me out everyday. I’m in my mid 50’s and I’ve I’m doing things before I get too old. I’ve started running marathons. I’ve gone back to school to expand my knowledge in Health, Horticulture and now currently Social Work. I enjoy it. I also love chocolate and chips. I go to Dollarama and I have a limit of buying 2 small bags of chips because I’ll eat a big bag to myself. 😂😂😂
Excellent video! Lots to relate to. Personally, I’d tell my younger self to not sweat the small stuff. Things that consumed me years ago are nothing but a blip in my memory.
Very good informative video 🙏 Many a times, teenagers or younger adults are unaware of such things in life and this would save them a lot of time and energy. Thank you ☺️ for sharing!
I wish I had embraced this sooner but it’s never too late, is it? As a 50 y/o with a weakness for pretty things (and chocolate😀), I finally figured out that a fulfilled life includes experiences, relationships, and purpose vs shiny sh*t. I’m so much happier now. I hope this gets a lot of views because it’s great advice - thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing .. I am 55 turning 56 I am a hermit loner so I got nobody to tell off funny .. I have my husband he is enough for me .. we been married for 33 years .. We have two boys if they need me I offer advice .. I give my boys space .. I don’t really interfere because a person has to learn their own lesson in life .. I look back at my life I won’t change a thing I AM CLUELESS .. I wasn’t expose to many people .. I adapt easily childish .. lucky my husband look after me financially funny I am an extra child funny .. I laugh
I believe no person who never regrets. I do regret so many things in life. I was a fool, I was naive. I could have lived differently. However, life was and still is a good teacher. I love school and learning new things. I love the gym and I was and still am active. I don’t like being at home. But I make time for kids to spend time. I canceled my gym membership and I found out that I can run or walk outside and for lifting, do push-ups as much as you can. That saved money. Whatever happens, it happens for a reason. Even though I regret things, I don’t want to be stuck in the past. If I do, I cannot build my future. Mr. Randy, thank u for all you do for us 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Another great video. I wish I've taken more risks when i was younger. 42 and still dont have a skin routine but i have great skin. #9 i have told enough people off, i dont let anyone walk over me. Thanks for these videos 🙂
Excellent video! I would not have thought you were an introvert!!!!!! Everything you said, I wish I had known when I was young. For me, I made too many decisions based on making other people happy. For example, my Mom didn't like me "living in sin" with my boyfriend. So I married him when I was 20, just to keep her happy and not to embarrass her with her church friends. I was too young, naive and immature...the marriage lasted 6 years.
I hated school too. Id skip all the time. But i made it to college. Hated college too. Your so accurate about the gym lol. Also, my family would say the same thing but like this "tell me who your friends are and ill tell you who you are". Your advice is good stuff. Your very wise and intellectual. The smarest people been through some and some more.
If there was just one thing this 73 year old fart could impart on a 20 year old is "you may believe you can live your life without regrets, but by the time you reach 40 you definitely will have some regrets on poor decisions you have made." One thing I suggest people learn is how to be assertive. Take a course so you know the difference between assertive and aggressive, and that it's OK to disagree. I worked on the military base up in Downsview until it was closed down in 1995. Most of the people I knew did not have the capacity to change and move forward. Most just stalled out in life. For myself, I quickly moved on, got my electrician's license and within 5 years my income was doubled from what it was in 1995.
Off topic but a serious question. How do you feel about drafting? There are so many wars, and people can't be in two countries simultaneously. Who should be drafted back to the country of origin to fight there?
I think all military age Palestinian, Ukrainian and Jewish men should go to the country of choice. War is war and boots on the ground are needed. Protests are a waste of resources here.
All of this is such great advice! I would add ‘Quality Sleep’ to your Eat Well and Exercise category. And you’re right, people in their 20s and 30s don’t listen! 😂 Hindsight really is 20/20.
I am a middle child stuck with two brothers I learn to just play by myself and enjoy my own company .. I never really notice material things I have a brain of a child funny omg I so immature even at age 55 .. my two boys are more mature compared to me.
In your 40’s? 😳🤔 pretty sure you’re a GenX closer to my age but I won’t hang you out to dry 😂 but seriously I hear you but you probably know as well as I do that even if we had been told all this back in our 20’s (I know I have been repeatedly) we wouldn’t listen more. Everyone in their 20’s think they know it all much better. I agree with all of it tho. And as for telling people off, I wish I had continued to speak my mind and not allow for an abusive relationship to change me to the point I turned into a welcome mat and got sick because returning to who I use to be is no longer possible life has changed me. I just wish I could say for the better but I am not there yet but working on it.
Hmm… how about, always brush your teeth before bed, and shower in the morning. Even if it’s just a quick bird bath, oh and make your bed, for godsakes! lol.. Thanks for sharing, Randy! ✌️
