very unorthodox but very effective. respect...most martial artists take an unorthodox fighting technique as weakness and get fucked up by these unorthodox techniques...good stuff
@nongxingkwoon There's a underlying spirit to Drunken Style, you could almost say a rule, that makes answering this question a little difficult. Drunken style is very different from most martial arts because it does not use a set system, series of techniques, etc. but rather a freeform connection to your body, freedom of movement, and the question to yourself "if I were drunk/unbalanced/awkward, what would I do next to fight?" In short, Drunken style's point is to be free of rules.
@prax4788 yes, there can be several version of drunken. Any style can be adapted to use some drunk style form. I.e. something that deals with a lot of throwing/grappling. Juijitsu. You can act as if unbalanced but still be able to do lets say the hip toss or the shoulder throw. Due to you can place your footing exactly right to do both while in a supposed drunken stooper. As nongxingkwoon said. Drunken Style is a free spirited martial arts because it doesn't use a set system or series of moves.
um..the only arts that really use that philosophy that you just mentioned are WIng Chun and Xing Yi. You don't know too much about martial arts do you (no offense?)? all other arts use circulur motions. Arts like Baguazhang use ONLY circulur motions. They have almost no straight lines at all. just that a motion is circulur doesn't mean it's wasted or useless
I love the grappling principles, it make sense to open up the center, but most important, you have a good stance.
