- Whilst getting lots of news on the Bloody Harvest Halloween Event coming to Borderlands 3 next month. We also found out we won't be getting new DLC Vault Hunters similar to Gaige, Krieg, Aurelia and Timmy. Today we break down all the info!

You're kidding right? I'll be honest, I don't currently even feel like there's a character for me in Borderlands 3. I felt the same way when the second game came out and both Krieg and Gaige remedied that perfectly. Seriously, Gearbox, bring back a berserker class of some sort. Hell, I'd enjoy if they literally just threw Krieg back into the game as a playable character.

If they through Krieg back in I will finally have a reason to keep playing and if there's a partition to get this done then tell me where to sign.
I literally just bought this game thinking it was gonna have more content than bl2 by now, what a waste of my money I was hoping the characters were alot more diverse and bountiful but the only visually appealing one to me is FL4K and that's it. In bl2 I maxed almost every character.

Pfft doubt it, the DLC characters were always huge hits, especially Krieg and Gaige. They'll totally put out more for extra income.

It doesn't even matter if the people dont play the characters, they will more than likely buy them anyway because they're usually cheap
I hope they do. If they don't add more content then players will need more characters to keep playing. I mean example, I played pretty casually and have been lvl 50 for a couple days now. No way I could of got 72 in that time, much less OL8. Granted, I have some farming to do and lots of experimenting and what not but I'm already starting to work toward the other 3 characters since I got to 50 so quickly that I might as well do it for them all. At the very least maybe this decision will inspire them to balance all the characters to feel good instead of just forgetting about them for years. And good I mean there needs to be multiple viable builds for each that make one feel powerful.

Are you talk to about when the character first drop? Usually people play the new character for a week to a month and they go back to the og character they were using.

Bruh yeah obviously when the game is very new everyone is gonna be focused on one main, but when we get 500 hours in that's when people would want more
yeah but only 1% or less will play the game for that long (Borderlands 2 average 40hours, median 14hours) and you dont develop something for that small of an audience

I know right! I loved the new hunters they added in the sequel and pre-sequel. I mean Kreig is a freaking legend and I loved Gaige's power set and attitude! Playing as Jack's doppelganger was freaking hilarious. Even Hammerlock's sister brought something to the table.

Omg yes please, there have been far too many occasions where I've opened my inventory and was frozen for about 10 seconds.
Is this a console issue? I see people talk about this.. but i never drop below 100fps on max settings, the inventory doesnt freeze either

Yeah that whole argument was a really weak straw man. People don't make it to high levels because they don't want to play through the campaign for the 15th bloody time... Not because they don't like new things.
Data might exist, but so do deliberate mis-interpretations of data.

the dlc maps always felt like a 1 and done while a new VH feels like you get to experience the game again because all the loot means something different to you now given skills etc

krieg was one of the most played characters in any borderlands game, gaige not far behind and almost everyone mained doppelganger in presequel
@@sneaky5141 they are probably looking at it from the whole buyer base instead of the hardercore community. 13 million bought the game. id guess about 80% or more of those people only played the game once with one character. maybe through true vault hunter. then the real community branched and tried many characters, went to 72 etcetc. most buyers don't stick with games for long. id be surprised of 10% of BL2 buyers(not including handsomejack collection) ever got krieg past level 15. regardless, they need to look at what their loyal community wants, not what the playerdata says.

Well in all honesty, I rather them work on campaign and expand the world for the season pass. I love new VH but not all characters will be liked by every. So having a VH as part of the season pass would short change people on their purchase. But I do hope we get new VH after the season pass done.

They will make no matter what, any company wants cash....as you see from videos many streamers who live from this already done with everything in game....how much days its been from release? So there must be a major thing to gain new cash and keep people playing. For me this event is kinda meh as its targeted for coop so anyone who solo will get rekt at it and forced to sociolise just to be a part of that event...

Terrible idea, new vault hunters have the most value of all DLC types because they allow you to replay the game again, that is alot of extra hours of content they provide. Fiona would have been the perfect DLC Vault Hunter, she is already popular so you know that alot of people would choose to main her if she was added to the game.

@@ultrainstinctroshi7315 I call bull on that. Alot of people played Gaige, Krieg, Jack, and Aurelia in my experience. Obviously they were played less than the original vault hunters in Borderlands 2 and Pre-Sequel, but that is to be expected since they cost extra money and came after release when the casuals had already beat the game and stopped playing.

I put tons of hours into all the characters including the DLC. I don't think I'm the minority
Petition to get new vault hunters. Also, who tf only plays one vault hunter I usually replay borderlands games twice for each vault hunter. I hope they release them eventually ( say 3-6 months after the last dlc drops)

I don't mind new vault hunters at all. What I really detest is timed events with specific drops. The best part about bl3 was being able to come back to the game with a cool build in mind and be able to get the specific gear needed to do so. The game has millions of guns so why lock a handful of fun ones behind a time window 6 weeks out of the year? I hate that.
Even if they make it super tough. Make the haunted enemies super rare spawns in the base game and just make them super common during Halloween. Just for god's sake don't lock loot away in a way that isn't fun. Killing hard enemies is fun, going through touch missions, finding secret places ALL fun. Waiting until next Halloween because you accidentally trashed a gun or missed out. NOT FUN
And you need that 1 gun why? you dont need it. like you said there are billion other guns and crying not getting one or 2 of them all the times just just plain stupid af.
@@mikaeljalamo4834 A certain SMG does insane elemental damage and far outpaces many other guns in DPS and is a world drop... it is arguably one of the best all around guns in the game and can be gotten in multiple elements and is able to hit multiple times per shot. The billion other guns don't matter when something amazing akin to this exists... and if it only can be gotten a certain time it is brutally unfair.
There is a chance the new guns can have this effect, since chances are they will be designed to be around the best if not the best to even make them viable for the level 50 people who are already everywhere with the already best gear.
Y'all assume the loot nerf will allow you to pick up this one gun. Watch how many ppl fight the Halloween boss and only get green and whites to drop.
I guarantee there will be DLC characters at some point.

"People stick to one character." Literally all my friends who play this game have level at least two characters. Most of them have leveled 3 and I plan on maxing all 4 vault hunters. I really, REALLY want DLC Vault Hunters. I'm not saying they are liars. They probably do have data on how many characters a player uses. I just don't really believe they don't want to add more DLC vault hunter because people don't play them. Every looter shooter out there people have at least two mains. People have multiple guardians in Destiny. People have a freaking roster in Warframe. Some people even have multiple characters in The Division 2 for "lol reasons." I think the reason they don't want to do it is because of the voice lines and dialogue. A notice a lot of the enemies have unique combat lines depending on what character you're playing and some of the NPC interactions are specific to a certain character. They probably don't want to record more lines and bring back those voice actors. The funny thing is, in Borderlands 2 I mained a Siren until Mechromancer and Psycho where released, then I mained those as well. Sure, I leveled every vault hunter but I geared at least 3 characters and two of them where DLC.
Will be a massive misstep to not include new vault hunters. It keeps the game fresh and helps repayablity. Furthermore it brings more players to the game that may not have got it at launch or have found a character they really resonate with e.g. Krieg being a very popular hunter in bl2..
As someone who didn't spend a ton of time on gaige and krieg, I still find this to be a very wrong decision.
Even if they aren't played as much as the original 4, it still brings new life into the game and adds more content without needing to add new maps/planets.
The idea of adding more to the existing vault hunters is great, but there's only so much they can add that could be impactful enough to feel "new".
I really wish they'd release this data they're looking at. If we're not getting new characters I at least hope for new skill trees to go along with level cap increases in the future.

Krieg was literally over half of my playtime by the time I was done with Borderlands and I started before he was released
The only DLC that matters to me are either major content packs like Captain Scarlet's Pirate Booty or new characters, and without one, the other is a lot less valuable.
Basically, they both add replayability that's a multiplier of the other. More content × More characters with which to experience the content = maximum replayability.
I like the core cast, but they ARE going to reach a point where there's nothing new to learn about playing them and at that point just having more enemies to bash isnt going to be that interesting.
thats there point though. that they rather expand on the existing VH which would go along well with new level caps and the fact that we would get new action skills, augments and talents since from their data it showed more people stick to their mains than new VH

@@savagewraith lol you do realize that they worked on making bl3 for 5 years right? that far longer than any other bl game. this has nothing to do with "laziness" even though expanding the VH would be more work since they have to make 4 new skill tress instead of 3 and it be alot more/harder to balance because of the number of crazy combo of skills there be with 4 trees of the 4 VH vs balancing one VH. thats not including whatever else they add to the existing VH too. so lets wait and see what they plan to do instead of making new VH because we have no real idea of what itll be yet.
As a deluxe edition owner, I really hope they'll decide to add new characters. The little preorder bonus equipment is completely useless, save for the shield, and bonus DLC maps are whatever. The characters are more valuable than any other additional content. I feel kind of ripped off if they short us that additional content

@Joseph Ellis you can skip first cut scene, join friend and create new character, then quit and start that character up. It should skip first cutscene.
Exactly I like leveling up new characters to max but the unskippable cutscene get so redundant after the 4th time of watching them

Gaige and Krieg are my favorite characters to play in borderlands 2 and the doppelgänger jack was my favorite from the pre sequel. Nobody I know does not like the dlc characters.
Without DLC vault hunters I think they will lessen the lifespan of the game. If they don't I feel like they will have to make additions to the skill trees

Krieg was the defining factor in my love for Borderlands 2, I loved everything about the character and with this modern mindset both Krieg and Gaige wouldn't have been in the game at all which is ludicrous. This seems like a mistake from them, hope they rethink this and add another vault hunter or 2.

I would enjoy dlc characters but I think I’d like them working on the characters we have, for example making iron bear good enough to use.
Well from a business standpoint it makes little sense to use data on people playing new characters and stopping.
If they buy the characters and don’t feel they wasted their money, the company should deem the new character as worth it.

When they first made this announcement, I was okay with it. Logic seemed sound. Now that I've played the game and most of the characters a bit, I think this was an incredibly stupid decision on their part, and I'm really not even that impressed with the existing skill trees. Everybody (except Zane) seems to have one particular build that is undeniably better than all others, and Zane simply does not compete in that regard even though his playstyle is by far the most fun (for me). And for what it's worth, I played Gaige about as much as every other BL2 character combined, and Jack was my second-favorite pick in Pre-Sequel after Wilhelm. I don't see creating new skill trees for existing characters as anything other than laziness at this point.
Statistics don’t convey love fans have for characters or content.
"We really concentrated on diversity within the characters themselves and having a lot of different builds." Obviously, that's why Fl4k and Moze both have only one good build! We spent so much time diversifying Zane and Amara that we forgot about the other two Vault Hunters and just phoned in the designs. Also his comment that most players only played a few levels outside of their main character is more of a testament to the weak replay-ability of the series so far: the only things that change between runs are the items you get and the character you play, so if the game itself isn't fun outside of the first run, people won't want to re-play those sections. Borderlands 2 was a fun game, but what really made it fun was the late-game content, not the early stuff.

I feel like that's gonna come to bite them in the ass with this dumb decision if they infact don't add new characters, one of the reasons bl2 was still going strong after all these years was gaige and Krieg if they choose not to add new ones ever I think the bl3 is doomed to have a lower life span then bl2

That data was so wrong, Krieg was such an amazing character and something so new to play as. Hell, the curiosity of doing the story again just for the new characters interactions is worth it.
They should have left tiny Tina out of the story to add her as a DLC add-on. But then again, Borderlands 4 might have her
Current SJW line up Really missed the mark, meaning none of the current character roster really clicked in anywayshape or form so not implementing new characters in dlc is a mistake. This game needs new dlc characters to make it replayable in my opinion.
Also in the pre sequel I played a Athena but when Jack was release he became my main character and I never looked back. He was my favorite character in the pre sequel. In BL2 I love playing as Maya though I never used Gaige really I loved Kreig and played as him a ton. He was an awesome character to play as. The things he would say and the builds you could make were awesome.

I play on mayhem 2 as Moze (good balance between difficulty and loot IMO) and my iron bear can shred enemies and I don't even have many perks into it lol.. I just use the explosive minigun and the perk where it increases damage with the same weapon equipped. The only other thing I have is the one that increases fuel and armor. The green tree is amazing for boosting Iron bear and Mozes dmg. Especially if you use Vladof weapons (Lyuda to be more specific equip 4 of those with different elements and you're good). Oh and also the event is a month away. Plenty of time to fix the issues. It's probably gonna be updated at the end of the month or early October and most of this shit will be fixed before the event even haappens (at least is should be).
A action skill should stand on its own look at flaks pets they aren't properly balanced to be relevant just to make a skill useful you shouldn't have to go through out of your way to buff it the dps loss while using bear at all is massive compared to how much you can put out with just running and gunning a month to fix what shouldn't even be an issue is ridiculous they obviously didn't test the game a temporary event which should just be a permanent content drop since their game is so short of content also m2 isn't endgame currently tvhm m3 is and as it is already the usefulness of mozes mech will only go down when they drop uvhm
@@kaitanaroyr Endgame is anything after the main story/game. Even mayhem 1 at level 40 is endgame so long as you competed the main content. Playing a game on a harder difficulty isn't what determines the end game. Also mayhem 3 is retarded. It's too difficult for the loot you get from it especially after the nerf. It's double the difficulty of mayhem 2 and mayhem 2 you get 300% loot and mayhem 3 you get 500%(should be at least 600 to take into account the difficulty increase.)
I played more of the DLC characters than i did of the main characters. Krieg was/is my favorite character to play.
I'm over here just wanting to play as Tina, Moxxi, or Vaugn.

Krieg and gaige were amazing. They are the most loved characters in bl2. Would be a true shame if they didnt add new characters later down the road. Soon we will be tired of hearing the same lines from the original 4 characters.

Konnen 73 it’s like they hate money just make a new character model and an action skills or skills and a few character models/animations and sell it for about the half the price for a standard dlc level it’s easier to design that then an entire level with unique enemies loot and quests with different customizations
They want to focus on existing characters and skill trees. Makes enough sense to me.

I feel like they need new characters and this might not be how everyone thinks but I feel like the the new skill trees are so underwhelming borderlands 3 feels like everyone has the gunzerkers skill tree but less broken so it’s not as fun there is no awesome two turrets no nuke turrets no controlling enemy’s with phase no Kunai with all elements no cool stuff other than the ability itself but no cool upgrades. And if there is a cool upgrade it’s like a trade off like the nukes for moze they are nukes but take forever to reload and if you miss it bites you in the butt. More from pre sequel like badass doplegangers. The canon ship for fragtrap or the disco ball for fragtrap. Or maybe it’s just that they focused to much on stats gundamage accuracy reload speed in this game that there isn’t amazingly cool and overpowered feeling ability’s anymore like for moze my main you can litteraly build her where you don’t need to use your ability because it has bad dps compared to just her which was never a thing in the other borderlands where your character was better without using your ability but still I like the game but it doesn’t have that wow my ability is so cool and feels so overpowered compared to my normal damage numbers with my gun awesome. I wish they would add like an ability based character to this game that has random ability’s like a fragtrap or like a character that rotates ability’s to make ability’s fun again.
This is something else in the game all the actually good side characters were skipped over if someone played borderlands 3 without seeing any of the other borderlands they would like just think that brick Tina and mordeci were like some randoms. And the shitty characters like Ava where put through all the god damn story please take her out of the game literally everyone everyone EVERYONE HATES HER Ava is an asshole was not developed and literally just becomes leader of the crimson raiders for what????? She didn’t shoot any guns she watched maya die and that shouldn’t have even happened like it would have been nice if maya like had a fight like the story would have been amazing if maya killed tyreen then troy killed maya and become the main villain it would have been wayyyyyyyyyyyy better. Back to Ava umm she sucks and like what did she do to become leader oh I watched 2 sirens die so now I’m the crimson leader?!?!? Hammerlock Lilith and Tannis are the only characters really explored in this story but they were good characters but I don’t think tannis or Lilith or hammerlock were fab favorites. Tiny tina, brick, mordeci, mr fucking torgue who wasn’t in the fucking game!!!!!!!, claptrap, and more but those are my favorites honestly I like the game but it’s got NO better quality’s than borderlands 2 except for guns and that’s it. Borderlands 3 has a bad story compared to 2 bad ability’s compared to 2 and apparently no dlc characters, no good new characters except one which is hammerlocks friend sorry forgot his name, and finally we don’t know how good these dlcs are going to be hopefully they have the fan favorites characters and either no Ava or has some redeeming quality’s for Ava. No two turrets? Iron Bear... Two nukes? Iron Bear. Controlling enemy? Fl4k has a melee which does that as a skill.
There is a trade off because if the Nukes didn't have one... why use anything else on Iron Bear? Using the miss excuse on an EXPLOSIVE is like complaining a sniper sucks because you can't hit with anything other then an shotgun point blank range.
I recall in 2 and TPS there were a few abilities which reduce your effective DPS, a certain Siren, a certain shield user, a certain cold sniper... this is just a few. Iron Bear does insane damage and you're invulnerable for a time... but we are just ignoring that in this game? Or Fl4k being able to delete bosses in 5 seconds? Or Amara being able to do insane damage and nuke enemies as she becomes a grenade?
Some of your complaints are valid, but some are you not seeing what is here.
I'm sure we will eventually get DLC characters back but not right away probably later on around next year. The fact that he couldn't say anything about Fiona is that she most likely will be involved in some future DLC release which is great. Lastly, I really do hope we get to see (hopefully play as) Gaige again she was awesome and seeing her more grown up with a upgraded bot would be epic

seriously? gaige and krieg were my favourite BL2 vault hunters, none of the original BL2 vault hunters were interesting to me the first time i played it, then those two gems came out and suddenly i was playing a lot more, fucking love melee krieg and while i havent played her anarchy gaige looks fun as hell to, and i like her as a character as well, same with krieg, not giving us new DLC vault hunters is a fucking stupid decision

Adding in new skill trees and actions skills for each vault hunter would be enough for me to not want a new character. That being said, I would still prefer a new vault hunter to play. I understand if they dont or wait awhile before adding anyone.
I mean. I'd rather they add two new characters with 3 new trees as opposed to adding an extra tree to each character. It's way less content if they do that to the 4 already in the game.

My main in Borderlands 2 was Krieg because he was the only character worth playing. My main in the Pre-Sequel was Dopplejack because he was the only character worth playing.

... I don't actually agree but I think noone cares for the VH's in this game because the GAME doesn't care about them. I like Maya because I played BL2 with her and I felt important. My Moze did nothing for whole story. Run around and watch the main chars. Blah blah blah. Whatever.

I think that reasoning is a little dumb but of course I'm a person who loves playing and grinding every character. But one big thing they are missing is how much a new character can sell a dlc regardless of if someone plays them much at all.

My hypothesis isn’t that we’d see new DLC characters, but rather remade vault hunters from old games made to fit this new diverse class build system.
I mean I *know* I didn't buy Borderlands 2 until Krieg came out. I held out for someone I knew would interest me to play. It's possible other people are the same. They'd be missing out on players by not releasing dlc vault hunters.
Of course this is just me and from my very individualized perspective.
I only played Krieg and Gaige because the 4 main hunters were boring and vanilla. Too similar to the character from the first game

All bl3 characters are terribly lame :( definitely need dlc characters beat first with gunner class and felt underwhelmed so i kept good faith and maxed all other characters and still waiting for the real bl3 to start ,, these worst group of default characters, ask yourself how could they be worst..

It's simple: no need to pay new voice actors and to create a new character model. That's it. They still have to balance new (and old) trees on the existing characters, so for those who use the "balance" argument: balance is irrelevant here. Everybody would prefer having a new skill tree on a new character with new (and this time funny) voice lines rather than just expanding on the same old character who are very complete as it is. But again, it's cheaper for them to simply code another tree in existing character... why give us more when they can give us less...? I mean, it's logical.
