What a clusterfuck of an operation. Basically a mercenary death squad sent by UAE to kill leaders of a political party (Al-Islah) that opposes UAE influence in Yemen. Claims their target is "a shitbird" with no evidence of him doing anything illegal or even immoral (one of Al-Islah's leaders is a Nobel Peace prize winner). In this mission the leader (Abraham Golan) appears to begin shooting at random civilians loitering on a street corner down the road (you can see it in the drone footage on sites like Buzzfeed). They then bomb the room where they 'think' their target is. But he's not there. Who is? They have no idea....any women...children? No clear info on the building they're bombing, basically a drive-by terrorist attack. SPEAR go on to kill a number of prominent figures in Yemen, some of whom were 'allegedly' linked to terrorist actions (its quite possible they were but its also a very easy claim to make without evidence), some of whom were purely political figures, and some of whom were religious leaders. There was no evidence given to the SPEAR team of any crimes or terrorist activity. They were literally just handed a kill list of targets the UAE wanted dead (this according to Isaac Gilmore himself). Doesn't say much for a man who presents himself as a defender of his nation that he takes the skills he learned for that purpose and puts them on sale to the highest bidder to kill whoever they like - no questions asked, and collateral damage an afterthought. When you keep company with people like Golan and Gilmore you're trading your reputation for dollars but there will always be people who lap up 'war stories' like this because it plays into their own fantasies in a way acknowledgement of the facts never will.
