      What’s different is the political & social commentary. The sound of drums is how a charismatic figure can sweep the nation into voting for a prime minister who just wants power & doesn’t care for people. The giggle is about this generation becoming more aggressive by thinking they’re righteous thanks to the increased access to the internet.

    So this would mean that at one point in the version of the timeline the Toymaker f'd up, in 1969, the moon landing footage had two subliminal messages spliced in at once, one being the Silence instructing humanity to kill them all on sight and another being the giggle.
    I wonder if there would have been any interaction effect between the Giggle and the Wire from The Idiot's Lantern in series 2.

    • @sail4170

    • @S-Fan2006
      @S-Fan2006 2 месяца назад +19

      That does actually make me wonder if the Toymaker was immune to the memory proofing of the Silence, if he knows about them or would also need either an eye drive or tally marks to remember them. I haven’t actually watched the episode so maybe they did touch upon this, but if not, then it’d be interesting to see them interact as I feel like the Silence would further demonstrate how powerful the Toymaker is, if he’s so powerful that he can perfectly remember all of his encounters with the Silence, or if the Silence are so strong with their memory proofing that one of them used post-hypnotic suggestion to convince the Toymaker to set it free.
      To be honest, I feel like the former is more likely.

    I actually liked this idea. And Neal did a great job playing the Trickster. But the way they ended it was bad. They only gave the Trickster 2 episodes. They should've had him be the antagonist for all 4 episodes. It would explain why he ran into Donna and then the Trickster could've sent them to the ship from the second episode. Then we have episode 3 where the giggle takes effect and episode 4 brings it to a finale where we have the new Doctor outsmart tye Trickster like the original Doctor did. I feel that would've been a nicer full story.
