Great reaction! YOYOKA is 14 now and living in LA now (in the US since Sept 2022) on an Artist Visa along with her family. They sold everything and moved to the US so YOYOKA could pursue her music career. She has played hundreds of live gigs over the last decade, and now plays frequently at the famous Whiskey a Go Go at their Ultimate Jam Night (UJM). They put together pro musicians and they play unrehearsed and no sound checks - YOYOKA always just kills it every session. She has also recorded 3 albums with the Ken Okada Group ft. YOYOKA which are jazz/fusion albums. Another genre she has mastered. Album one called Nine Gates is out, the second is in final mastering, third is recorded release TBD.
Welcome to the YOYOKA rabbit hole.

She absolutely is a legend already. I should know I played jazz & big band five years straight in a community stage band hundreds of performances….
I believe she woke up all of the great drummers with her love & passion. She knows every part her brother is pretty good too & her parents with their passion, love and talent great musicians as well.
As always, peace, love, joy, and peace to you and yours 🎉😂❤☮️🙏🌎🌏🌍🤲☮️❤️

10-year-old Yoyoka did a great cover of The Who's "Getting In Tune" from "Who's Next". That one might be a good choice for your next Yoyoka Video? Astounding to see a tiny child playing like prime-Moon! Maybe Yoyoka does not have the manic intensity and danger of Moon's original, but she's pretty close on Moon's power, speed, and that intrinsic drumming humor. Yoyoka sound's closer to Moon then most adult pro-drummers that I have heard attempting to do Who songs!

Yoyoka has been listed by drummers world as one of the top 500 drummers of all time, she plays regularly at the Whiskey, she’s played with Cindy Lauper, Jack Black, and several other well known artists. She also recorded 3 jazz albums with the Ken Okada group. So many other credits to this young drummers name, please check out her channel on RUclips.

If you do a reaction to Yoyoka's "Burn" cover, choose Ian Pace's reaction and see what he said about her drumming. Also, someone introduced this video (Good Times Bad Times) to Robert Plant and he also praised her drumming. My recommendation is "Seven Days" by Sting, it's a tricky song but Yoyoka nailed it. If you want a Led Zeppelin cover, try "Dazed and Confused". It is simply stunning.

Yoyoka, awesome! Such a cute little kid who was just killin' it!! And now she's growing up and moved to Oakland and then to LA. The footwork on the bass drum pedals, my god...and yeah, Japanese culture can be very conformist and rigid. I play guitar but when you see these young prodigies tearing it up, it makes me wanna just throw my guitars back in the closet and slink away

I don't know if you've kept up with Yoyoka's musical progression, but it is amazing. She's moved to the U.S. now. I've met her and watched her perform twice. The ease with which she plays is astounding. She plays tough stuff, and yet she is relaxed playing it, like it just rolls out of her, naturally. I can see this a little in videos, but when watching her in person it really stands out. I know she puts in the practice, but she's a natural too. She's also written numerous drum parts, even whole songs. To top it off, she's intelligent & aware, yet humble, grounded, & wise beyond her years. She's a pleasure to talk to, and I hope only the best things are yet to come for her. She gigs a lot, so check her out if you ever get the chance.

Very enjoyable reaction. Yoyoka radiates joy in this one, even laughing at her little 'boo-boo' at the end. Yoyoka started making her _”YOYOKA” Drum Course_ when she was 6yo. She thoroughly covered the foot-pedal technique in _【Remaster】Yoyoka Drum Course #13 “Bass Drum Triplet Without Downbeat.” / ..."_ ruclips.net/video/B5EUmV9Jz-E/видео.html when she was 8yo. (She added the English subtitles later, hence "Remaster"). I hope you encourage both your children to play music. An "ocarina" is a popular musical instrument for teaching children in the UK. The simpler version has 4 holes. Notes are made with combinations of uncovered holes. The musical notation are little pictures of the 4 holes. So music can be played from printed music, without a need to learn musical notation.
It is good for people not playing because "over-blowing" tends to make the sound stop rather than 'shriek' like some instruments. Learning it might help with breath-control, and co-ordination too. The ones sold by the UK company are made of plastic (I assume they're available in the US), which are tougher than pottery. I'm told they are even washable.
    Best Wishes. ☮

I hope Yoyoka reads these comments. It saddens my heart that adults have put time and effort into 'dis-ing' any child playing music. Even worse, writing their comments under a reaction for a young musician they like. There are few ways to make it worse. However, I think you've found one. You've attacked someone who, AFAIK, is a friend of Yoyoka's. I hope this was cathartic, and you've got the hate and animosity out of your systems, for ever.
I try to celebrate young people being creative, especially playing music which transcends language and age?
Best Wishes to you, @gregcormier2379. ☮

@@gbulmer who are you replying to?

    • @gbulmer
      @gbulmer 3 месяца назад

@@ScottBayliss Really? There were only two comments when I wrote mine. I used plurals. So, it's reasonable to assume both. I did not use names to enable you both to delete your comments and disappear.
It's sufficient to say "IMO, Yoyoka is a better drummer than Nandi Bushell". There is no need to claim "It's embarrassing to even put that kid drummer in the same sentence with Yoyoka" or "Nandi is not in the same league ...". Those comments are mean and unnecessary.
Also, your comments taint Yoyoka fans. So _your_ comments may cause *_Musicians, parents of Musicians_* and *_Reactors_* to avoid Yoyoka to avoid her toxic fans.
Yoyoka is not mean spirited, quite the opposite. Posting mean comments does not represent Yoyoka.
AFAIK, Yoyoka is still friends with Nandi. So posting mean comments about Yoyoka's friends is weird. It may seem like an attempt to sabotage friendships. That's the sort of thing mean or spiteful children do in playgrounds, not adults in writing under reactions to Yoyoka. This is one place Yoyoka might be expected to eventually read.
Some folks might even assume Yoyoka is OK with mean comments if she doesn't explicitly object to them. Yoyoka should never need to 'police' people who claim to be her fans.
Nandi Bushell has a set of recent videos on Drumeo. A channel recognised for showcasing very good drummers. So objectively, Nandi is held in high regard by a reputable specialist RUclips drumming channel. Hence, to an observer, your claims do *_NOT_* seem justifiable. That makes your comments more toxic.
*_Summary._* Your comments are: needlessly mean about a child musician; not justifiable, based on observation of drumming experts; sufficiently unpleasant that Musicians, parents of Musicians and Reactors might react by avoiding Yoyoka to avoid their comment sections becoming tainted.
Instead of creating negativity, please use your time and energy to create positivity around Yoyoka. Yoyoka deserves a reputation for positive, supportive fans, attracting Musicians, parents of Musicians, young Musicians and Reactors to her. Yoyoka deserves to be more widely known for positive reasons, not negative.
Notice, I have still avoided naming you, so you can disappear.
