Cozy Powell was a monster rock drummer, a legend, playing in iconic bands such as Rainbow and Black Sabbath.
He died in the 90's from a car crash.
Rainbow was the solo project of Ritchie Blackmore, the founder of Deep Purple.
One of the four bands who created hard rock and heavy metal.
The singer was the legendary Ronnie James Dio, who later also joined Black Sabbath.
Dio is revered as the best rock/metal singer of all time.
He passed away from cancer 10-ish years ago.
This song you reacted to is from 1977 and is an absolute hard rock classic.

Recently in another RUclips by a Drummer I assume Jazz who is producing Documentaries concerning Rock and Roll greats of the 70's an on put up a Zeppelin cover by Yoyoka and his exchanges with Ian Pace on her and his giving us her history and playing. She confessed she can read music, but hates it. She learns by ear listening several times before her playing. When she's ready her dad sets up the camera and they go for it. One Shot no editing. Boom!

I thought that you might like that. Now you may want to take a look at Yoyoka's go at Deep Purple's 'Speed King'.

How good is Yoyoka ? Before you listen to her cover, go listen to the original. Then you'll know how good she is.

FYI there are a lot of videos of YOYOKA playing live with bands. You wondered what YOYOKA can do live? These are her 12th Birthday Videos.

Do your students a favor and listen to Cozy live on the fantastic album Rainbow on Stage. The band is on fire. Dio is incomparable. Kill the King is the show opener.

agreed - i only listen to the "on stage" version - i wish someone would remix and re-release the rainbow studio albums as the production on them was just horrible

So good. Yoyoka is awesome. Rainbow were an awesome band. 'Rising' from 1976 is a classic hard rock album, Cozy's intro to the song 'Stargazer' is nuts. Check out 'Live in Munich 1977' for great concert footage.

I'm also surprised, unless I've missed it, your showing her cover of Toto's Rosanna. She appears to do the Perdy Shuffle with incredible ease.
