@@geebert23 hm, I think so, I saw some loose hot wheels or carded wheels in an online shop called shopee, they have the official mall or just resellers, where they have transport teams, premiums, and sometimes car culture, they also have mainlines
Truueee brooo, like mainline were made in our country Malaysia at pineng yet somehow the price are double, it's not like they need to ship it across the sea or whatsoever😭and the demand is also high right now not like nobody want to bought it at all😭
Starting this year and the last, I noticed that hotwheels has up'ed the prices of hotwheels in the states. I got a couple collector friends over there told me that they are now seeing hotwheels being sold at a minimum of $1.09, some even at $1.49! The age of hotwheels selling a fixed dollar car is no more on retails over there sadly. Inflation has taken a huge toll all over the world especially this past few years.
Another reason as to why hotwheels is $1 usd is that most hotwheels cars are imported back to America where they're shipped off to Malaysia, Australia etc. Cause the usa is where the cars are defultly shipped off to means theres generally surplus cars, which also means the pegs are normally full, and in Australia supermarkets have to wait for a new case of cars to come in.
Some stores here in Belgium ask 3 euro’s for one single mainline car. So sad. Luckily we have a few stores where we can find them for 1-2 euro’s. But they don’t have a lot most of the times.
For us in Latvia, It always was about 1.95 EUR. Now its went up, usually 3 Hotwheels cars would be 5.80 EUR, now recently it was 6.50! The price increase is really hard for us euro collectors having to spend x2 or more than US collectors..
I've recently been in Thailand after 4 years and the price of Hot Wheels and Matchbox, even the premium ones are still as I remembered it's quite amazing. Also there's a permanent 15% off and buy 3, get one for free special there so that's quite good. It isn't 1$, but around 2 which is still better than Switzerland where they slowly creep to 3.5$. One more reason I go to Germany for hunting
I am new to collecting cars and found your video most informative. Thanks so much. By the way I've been to Singapore twice...I absolutely love the place.
Only a few Walmarts here in the US have them for a dollar still. DollarGeneral and DollarTree charge $1.33 now after taxes and most Walmarts are now selling them for $1.16… Soon they won’t be a dollar anywhere! And yeah hotwheels definitely go through a crazy process to still be so damn cheap!
Yep. I’m in California and travel around the state for work. This last month I’ve seen them go up from 1.09 to currently 1.29 at all Walmarts and the two Targets I’ve found them at 1.50.
In the USA, it also matter what store you buy your HWs from. If you buy from Walmart or Target of course the price is $1.00. But if you buy from other stores in could be $1.50. Which I guess is still better than $5.00 for a Mainline HW. Cheers from America.
In Poland from what i remember they were always 1.49$ or more. But lately from nowhere appeared one shop that sells them for 1$ and they are always first with new cases.

its getting worse in countries where there is no Mattel branch. They keep increasing the FOB/supply cost. Currently paying roughly 3 dollars for a mainline in Korea.
I am older and can verify that the price in the early 70s was indeed $1. Of course, they had moving parts and all metal back then. I'm not sure that the licensing is so cost restrictive that they'd still make them at a loss. Even with the fantasy castings offsetting the costs. Perhaps less profits, but it seems bad business to make products to lose money. Although the video game consoles often make little profit, but gain big on the accessories and games. So Mattel pushes racetracks, premium castings, and other related products to keep the company profitable.

I get it. Your right. Probably I would say 20 cents to make a hot wheel maybe less. I worked in the manufacturing sector. They also have to pay advertising, card art, wages, shipping, testing the product, Building rentals, lawyers fees an on and on. So to manufacture this product has to be low. They have to pay for everything else. Having said that I would say by the time that hot wheel hits the store. They are getting close to a dollar a piece maybe just a little less 80 cents. In that range. Just an educated guess. The store hikes it up for there profit but also they have losses of damaged cards and theft to pay for.
This is definitely another thing why the US has an advantage in these things together with those store exclusives. As a collector from europe, I have to say that depending on which store you go to, the prices can vary so much. Some stores can have them for just 1€ while the other can have some that cost up to 4€ and from exploring around, the price range is definitely moving in betwen 1-4€ for a mainline casting. 1 hot wheels car costs likely 3 dollars in Turkey and i think its so expensive because getting 3 dollars in Turkey is harder than getting 3 dollars in USA
The UK is actually stupid with hotwheels prices: The cheapest I can find one is £1.50 ($1.62) The normal prices are from £2 ($2.16) to £3 ($3.24) And I find a 5 pack for £9.45!!!! ($10.20) Wich is dumb because I find 10 packs for £10 ($10.79) So as you can see it's probably the shop bieng greedy or Mattel bieng greedy.
No longer a dollar buddy. now up to $1.25 Over here where I live up from 26 pesos to sometimes 49 pesos. That's over 2 dollars a car. The shipping and handeling is gonna kill the hobby. Even on Ebay the S?H is too too much. The govs need to fix the S/H issues and put a lock on how much countries can charge for exports. Up to a year ago I was still buying two of ever car. Not anymore. Now I choose my top 10 from a case to buy and only 2-4 doubles. I'm motly interested in older cars from 2000-early 2010s. about 1-2 dollars in swapmeets, but better quality of metal on metal and more variety of licence and unlicence cars to choose from.

Greetings. You know what they do with the cars that arrive at the malls and don't sell. as "hot wheels" they compensate them in the case of the zoon in.

In Canada cars are two dollars
I just found out that in some countries or for example the philippines hot wheels are 2 dollars!
well they still using some metal base on mainline car such as The 2 Jet Z got metal body and metal base...idk why they do it on fantasy kind of car (well not really) but you get it...they just lazy enough to gime some special treatment to some mainline car,if you guys remember hotwheels release first baby blue lbwk r35 with rear tail light detail but in 2022 they release again in dark blue/purple with no rear detail!! i mean why!!
in norway a fantasy car is 60 nok/6 usd
Yea hotwheels in The USA Has finally surpassed that dollar,
Walmart is now
$1.08
And Targets are now
$1.19
But ey im still collecting 😌 lol
1 hot wheels car costs likely 3 dollars in Turkey and i think its so expensive because getting 3 dollars in Turkey is harder than getting 3 dollars in USA
Very nice review.
Great video brother
in germany some cost 20 euros even tho they are not special
The UK is actually stupid with hotwheels prices:
The cheapest I can find one is £1.50 ($1.62)
The normal prices are from £2 ($2.16) to £3 ($3.24)
And I find a 5 pack for
£9.45!!!! ($10.20) Wich is dumb because I find 10 packs for £10 ($10.79)
So as you can see it's probably the shop bieng greedy or Mattel bieng greedy.
