  • Green water is one of my pet peeves in the fish tank hobby - it can be incredibly fast growing and takes forever to get rid of once you have it, but the important thing is you can get rid of it with a bit of patience.
My favourite fishy stuff! (yes these are affiliate links :) )
    Lights
Nicrew Classic LED - amzn.to/3fG3Uv6 - Traditional led light that's got a nice high output in a white/cool colour range. Makes plants look extra green.
Nicrew SKY - amzn.to/3Ktn45U - really nice light for natural looking tanks, also the one I use for filming.
    Filters
Pat Mini - amzn.to/3fE1u0k - popular for a reason, just a superb little filter thats great for shrimp tanks and fish alike.
ASAP - amzn.to/3nBuytp - the old favourite and the one i return to most frequently.
    Air Pump
AP-3 Kit : amzn.to/34UMA3q - Great little air pump, not a silent runner, but has been very reliable for me.
    Tanks
Scaper 45 - amzn.to/3KBxG2H - a lovely high quality tank that comes with a super strong light, and a decent enough hang on back filter - perfect for newbies and scapers alike.
    My filming stuff
    Camera - Cannon 200D - amzn.to/354OLlc - nice camera, easy to use.
BigTripod - Manfrotto befree - amzn.to/3GLXDdj - pricey but super sturdy and can take being knocked over a lot by clumsy operators.
Lil' tripod - amzn.to/355WmQs - can't pronounce the name but it's been a good tripod for filming things on tables or when I have tanks on the floor.

I accidentally triggered an algae bloom in my water snail tank by putting too many slices of cucumbers in, however, as I needed to clean the tank, I used the opportunity to drain tank, clean everything, including giving all my little "shellies" a good shell brushing before putting them back.

    Thanks Lauren.
I put my new tank opposite a large window.
    Too much natural light.
I couldn't believe how quickly the algae became established.
I could only see the fish when they swam close to the glass.
Now in a different location and all clear now (literally). 👍

I could watch these videos all day. There so relaxing and informative, I enjoy that you take the natural approach to it rather than using a chemical.

Oddly enough, I seem to have the opposite problem. I am losing shrimp (red cherries), and I wonder if the fact that the aquarium glass is crystal clear indicates a lack of adequate food in the environment.

I always add the clean-up crew first. But first, of course add the plants. Good vid. Octopus plants are amazing. Very fast growing.

Try getting a few bamboo shrimp. They are filter feeders, and they'll eat up that green water strait off.
