RIA is manufactured by ARMSCOR here in the Philippines. I have been shooting the same gun for eight years now. It is such a sweet shooter. Thank you Hickock45 for featuring a Philippine made handgun in one of your videos.
If, hypothetically, all of my guns disappeared somehow, I would be buying all RIA guns, at least a dozen of them.
Function, quality, value, and beauty! Plus .22 TCM, and the fantastic pistol that is a convertible of 9mm and .22 TCM! Genius!
I have this exact gun. The RIA Tactical II. I love this gun! It is accurate, dependable, well appointed, (It has many of the options that would make a custom gun cost thousands) And I think it is a fantastic gun. If you shot my Rock Island Armory 1911 and my Kimber with the labels covered, you would not know the difference.
Philippines is the only Asian country that allows near unregulated civilian gun ownership
I think the 1911 is their national gun if im not mistaken, like the U.S. is the AR-15 the ppl at Armscor do take pride in their products.
@@Don.E.63 It is.
RIA is the only firearm I have ever sold for more $ used than what I paid for it new. They really are good guns for the money.
Yep, when I see RIA I know I'm getting my money's worth.
I love it!
Funny I just bought one and I paid more for it used crazy
Only if you can get a model with dovetailed sights. Not too many people want GI sights

ALL the bad guys have Guns and the good cintzen don't have one, so the cintezen can not defend themselves
In Mexico theeres a gun ban and som how there slaughtering eachother also
The gunsmiths in the Philippines are VERY good. I watched several documentaries on them building 1911's in shacks in the middle of the jungle out of scrap metal and hand tools.
I saw that documentary also they were making ghost guns
Just so it's clear to everyone especially the haters, THEY WERE NOT MAKING RIA FIREARMS.
I thought RUclips was banning these videos. I’m very glad they did not. Thank you sir for doing what you do. You are a true American and we love you brother.
The RUclips guidelines are afraid of ol’ man Hickok.
That's because idiots were writing comments like, "Where are you going to post videos when RUclips bans gun videos/channels in April. Morons churning the rumor mill. They were saying that B.S. without reading the updated ToS.
Hicock sort of gets an exception because of his popularity and family friendly language. RUclips is attacking small channels, and their AI is killing any channel that exposes the internal or takedown of a gun. Also anything with explosives are being banned. This channel is the only exception merely because of the size. Just like how Logan got a free pass to do whatever he wanted until the suicide incident.
PlayStation2014 they sure are
...it didn't apply yet.
Now matter how much crazy is going on in the world, Hickok45 videos put me in a relaxed state of mind. Just want to thank you guys.
Same feeling man.
I just picked up this exact model yesterday. Having a lot of Glocks, M&P’s, Sigs, Walthers, Rugers, Kars, ect. I’m amazed at how nice this trigger is. It’s my first 1911 and due to the weight I’d never carry it but it will make a nice range gun. I realize it’s a cheaper 1911 but it seems to have great quality for the price.
I was told that they use the same Dyes and molds as the Colt 1911 that were permitted to be used by Phillipines manufacturer.
@@jgreat8582 You are correct

Filipinos are one of the best firearms clone makers from the scratch. Can you imagine with the support, assistance and the equipments of Rock Island Armory. You got an excellent quality of RIA's coming out from the Philippines.
There are 3 Gun companies that makes firearms and 1911s in the Philippines, Rock Island , Metroarms , Shooters Arms Manufacturing.
@@gutadin5 What about the illegal gun makers in Danao, Cebu. They have been making crude copies of S & W revolvers since the 1950s.
My high school classmate bought a snub nose one in .22 caliber and I had the opportunity to fire it. Crude and cheap but can kill at short ranges.
They also continue to make improved quality Colt 1911 45 ACP clones to this day. I heard they are illegally selling them to the Japanese Yakusa (mafia).
@@scooterbob4432well Deniro favored it in Ronin and don’t be that jackass, there are many a 1911
I bought one of these in 10mm a few months back. Got it on sale, 530 bucks out the door. 400 rds through it so far, and I love it! Especially for the money!
I really aprecciate how hickok45 always display guns as tools without ever promoting violence. A really man of freedom, congrats to you my man!
Love mine. I have the railed version, picked it up for $350 when I first started collecting guns. Never had a jam, no failures of any kind, runs smooth, no recoil, just a smooth gun all in all. Dead on sights and didnt have to change the sights in an way. I can off hand fire it and hit 50 yard targets easy. First and only 1911 I'll own. Too much fun.
To clarify, I have fired a few 1911s from kimbers to an old colt. I still prefer my RA.
What model # is the railed version?

Very much enjoyed the video. I bought the most basic Rock Island model... the “M1911 A1-FS” about a week ago because I wanted one more like the ones I used in the navy 40 to 50 years ago. I’ve had a Ruger SR1911 for 4 or 5 years now. It has all those extra “bells & whistles” you speak of and it is a great piece, one of my most accurate “iron sight” guns. I did a test with the RIA vs the Ruger alternating 1 mag for the “Rock” and 1 for the SR until I’d put 50 230gr round noses through each. I was surprised that they were pretty much equal but I’d give a slight edge to the RIA... of course my results were only as accurate as my limited shooting ability allows... not at all scientific. I had been having a bit of buyer’s remorse for having bought a “cheap clone” when I’d been looking for a Colt Series 80 aka 1991 but after my little test I feel much better about my purchase. Thanks again for the great video! :)
I felt like my 4 year old watching Dora the Explorer. You said "Who invented this thing, Sam Colt?" And I found myself yelling at my screen: " No! John Browning!"
I new he was joking when he said Sam Colt .
cSym....He is humorous and witty with constructive sarcasm.
Swiper tried swiping. Once.
😂 I can already see a grown man just yelling at the video about firearms.
cSym thank God I wasn't the only one! 😂
I have one in 9 mm. Softest shooting 9 I have ever put my hands on. Plus, it is a real tack driver. Close to 6,000 rounds thru it so far with zero issues. Love it!
7:24 It's kinda cool when you can see those big old 45 slugs chugging along through the air.
That's because of the camera, not the speed of the bullet.
You can see fmj really well in the late afternoon/ sunset.
I remember one time I was shooting some low power 22lr at around 50yds and I could see the bullet flying through my scope.
Your eyes wouldnt see that without the camera.
its always weird to me seeing how fast 45 out of a pistol drops
Teacher: “What do you wanna be when you grow up?”
Me: “I wanna be Hickock45 when I grow up”.
We can truly see how much you enjoy what you do. I have a RIA 1911 same mode with Hogue grips. It’s everything you say it is. I love it. God bless bossman. Your right... life is good.
I've had a 9mm 1911 Rock island for 4 years. I've put 8k-9k rounds through it and it still runs great. Thanks Hickok.
I've had my RIA 1911 for a few months. I absolutely love it...even beyond the 1911-nostalgia sentiments. She's run perfect. The woods grips are beautiful and it's a classic GI style. Sometimes with a 10 round extended mag she'll be stubborn chambering that first round but its not often. Otherwise...flawless. Would still trust it with my life. For a college student, at 500 or so bucks, and a big 1911 fan, it was the best I could get. Always love shooting the beauty.
Do you not need to change the magwell to use a 10 round?
@@ChevyRedneckGFX No the 10 rounders are just like regular 7-8 round flush fits but they're a bit longer
Have you seen the deer this winter with the change in their beautiful coats ?
I got my Rock Island GI probably 6 years ago. I paid 393.00 out the door for it new at a gun show in FL. I have since upgraded it with new grips. hammer, beaver tail and slide release. It is by far my favorite pistol to shoot.
Yeah they dont suck by any means.
I’ve got the RIA tactical CS. I got it a few years ago and love it. It’s always functioned well for me. My grandpa has one of those pricey Kimbers (which I also have) and he tends to “borrow” my RIA whenever we go shooting. You’ve got to love the 1911.
I remember when these first came out (RIA 191Q) and everyone (that I talked to) was calling them "cheap junk". Good to know everyone has come to their senses!
Well i just learned they are made on the original equipment used in Philippines in ww2. As in its as close to as original you might get to the original builds.

Got mine in December for $500. It's an absolute beast, albeit, it's my first 1911. I'm taking my conceal and carry class this weekend, and I'm taking it to do it! She's sweet!
Excellent. I love my RIA combat 45. A bit of a heavy, bulky weapon to conceal carry tho. I do carry on occasion but I prefer my XD9 to carry.

I bought my first 1911 from RIA, grips front post polished feed ramp. And still going strong after 3000 rounds. I also have 10mm t promatch 6” barrel hi cap. Beast of a gun and shoots flawlessly. Another great firearm is their model 200 6 shot revolver 38spl 💪🏽👌🏽
I love when you can actually see the bullets flying. Great video as usual!
Lol, I thought I was crazy and had to rewind a few times.
With most .45s, especially from a 1911, if you have decent eyesight you see the bullet going downrange. Makes em super easy to sight in.
I've seen so many 1911 videos and I'm not getting tired of it. beautiful gun.
Rock Island 1911’s are awesome.
Bob Wampler 1911s are vary good guns

I own this exact gun and I love it. This is my first and only 1911 (so far). Great gun and great quality for the price point. I chose to research this manufacturer based on some of hickock45’s earlier videos on Rock Island 1911’s and I am so glad that I did. I am super pleased with m6 purchase.

M1911 is probably my favorite and one of the most effective handguns ever made in my opinion "Good old American .45"
I've had 2 of these. RIA listens to their consumer feedback and made improvements over the years.
I absolutely love my RIA 1911, it runs like a sewing machine!!!
Mine is the TacRock also. Exactly the same as this but without the mag well flare. I did swap the grips for traditional wood grips. Love it!
"Can't quit on a miss" is really a good philosophy for life
Picked up my Armscor 1911 a few years back. Very similar model, but also has a short rail and came with walnut wood grips branded as a Taylor's Tactical. Swapped out the grips for a nice black and red G10 and got rid of the junk KCI mags it came with for some Wilson Combat ones and it runs like an absolute dream. Got it on clearance from PSA for less than $500. Unbelievable value.
I love my standard GI 1911 from Rock Island. I put wolff springs in it and some nice rosewood grips and it's beautiful. I prefer parkerizing, it just has a look that I like. The money that I saved went toward ammo. After 2K rounds in a little over a year and not one issue.
I just joined your Patreon as a member. I’ve been paying far more for years for gun magazine subscriptions that are basically useless infomercials straight from the manufacturers. It’s time to support people like you that give the gun consumer and enthusiast useful input. Plus, watching your videos are almost therapeutic, like a good episode of the Andy Griffith Show or something. FYI I’m only 33 but I still can appreciate good clean entertainment.

People always joke about how this is such a "hard job to have, but someone has to do it". But really, putting out as much content as you do and still living a normal life has to be a hassle sometimes.....i see the target is date 11-1-17 so you guys must have a ton of content coming down the pipeline; and staying within YT's ever-changing policies is a chore itself.....on behalf of all of your viewers, thank you for what you do Hickok and son, we appreciate it deeply...
I've noticed a lot of the videos are back-dated....but along with all the traveling they both do, rallies they attend or historical places they visit....on top of constantly managing loaner guns and video production, it's really quite the job.
Just bought this in 10mm, the trigger is excellent, the grips are comfortable and very secure, no rattles, sights are clear and easy to acquire, it is rock solid. If I had to be picky about anything it may be the magazine is difficult to load fully, not impossible tho, and that should break in. Mine is a bull barrel so no bushing, and has the full length guide rod like the one in the video, which may be a turn off for some, but it is no big deal really. Mine disassembles and reassembles easily.
Thank you Sir Hickok45. Greetings from the Philippines. 1911 ARMSCOR FSPS in .45mm user here!!!
I have enjoyed so many of your reviews. This one is my favorite. Thanks for disassembling W/O the paper lip!
Finally, one from the Philippines. Thanks Hickok45
RIA is based in Marikina, Philippines
I have one of these, and I absolutely love it. I find myself carrying it more and more when I leave the house. Normally I stick with striker fired pistols for my cc's, but I love this thing so damn much that I don't want to leave the house without it.
I've bought 4 ria 1911s and love every one of them! Great weapon at a great price!
I have been so impressed with Rock Island firearms lately. Their 1911’s can’t be beat for value and the tcm round is really interesting and a lot of fun to shoot. They have a strong entry level revolver game too, just cool stuff. 👍
You can see the bullets flying through the air that’s pretty freakin cool
I own one of these. They are great guns- no jams, no feeding issues. Parts are nearly 100% interchangeable with Colt 1911s. RIA owns the Colt plants left over in the Philippines. I changed the grip screws to official colt screws. I highly recommend it.
That's an urban myth. Please check your facts.

I have this same 1911 in 10mm and it is my favorite handgun by far outta all of the ones I own. It is so comfortable and just fits my hand perfectly, is very accurate and fun to shoot.
Thank God for guns, John Moses Browning, and The USA!
Ah, I could never get tired of this gun, nor any model of this gun. Thank you, my good sir.
I own 2 of these Rock Island Armory 1911's. 1 in 45 ACP and 1 in 9mm. Can't argue with thier price and they have been flawless. No issues. Always go bang. And so far all 1911 parts, magazines, sights and grips fit. I paid $350 for the 45ACP model and $250 for the 9mm from pawn shop I frequently visit.

I carry the .45 everyday.
Own a Colt Series 70, a Colt 1991A1, and a Rock Island CS 1911 with 3.5 inch barrel. Out of all of them, the most reliable is the Rock Island. 500 rounds put through it without cleaning so far and it only jams when one specific magazine, an old GI surplus mag, is used.
I've got 2700 rounds and counting through my Rock Island Tactical. It shoots as good as any other 1911 I've had my hands on. Highly recommend one!

Ah yes! The humble 1911! It's kinda like the pickup truck of handguns.
Yep, outclassed by basically any modern handgun, but still more than capable of holding it's own more than a century later.
I thought x frame revolvers were the pick ups, maybe more semis trucks
That's pretty accurate lmao
It’s not an addiction so much as a disease. It’s also highly contagious. I’ve given the disease to several friends that weren’t shooters. One of them has more guns than I do now. Augh hell, it’s just plain fun.

what youtoob is doing will have no effect at all on how many gns are out there, or whether someone buys a gn. it appears to be all about money and the anti gn agenda, they were doing the same to the woman that did the shooting and she had an exercise channel. they were taking money from her.
I’m a serious Glock guy as well. That being said, I’ve been kicking around the idea of buying a 1911 just to have as a door gun and introduce my kids to another style of handgun. I have looked and looked at about all the 1911’s on the market. That being said, this video has made decide on the Rock Island. Right on bro! My RIA 1911 was my second firearm purchase. I'm in school so money isn't widely available but live in the country. First was a ruger .17 savage b mg, then my beautiful ria 1911. Have a mp-15 in .22 as well. 1911 is my favorite to shoot. Great handgun for those who love 1911's but don't have the budget to buy higher end models. I really have no complaints. Few magazine issues here and there but that's mostly with extended ones. Not a big deal. Great groupings, never issues. I love military history so finally having a 1911 is a dream come true. There was a time when Glocks were not allowed on a regular target or carry permit, then word got out that Police Commissioner Benjamin Ward, a Civilian employee, was carrying a Glock (19?) and then The Pistol License Division back pedaled, then allowed regular permit holders to get Glocks too.

Can't help be appreciate all the work you and John do to restore "the range" after your vids.
Sir Hickok, a good cheap 1911 that you featured in one of your videos' would be the "Tisas 1911" for about $350 from BudsGunShop (which Buds no longer has them in stock for almost a year now?, or I'd buy another one) !!! I bought one and love it!!! Have put hundreds of rounds without a single hiccup. I also have the Rock Island 1911...the same exact model featured in this video of yours, and right from the get-go, had multiple FTF/FTE with EVERY magazines....mag after mag. Disassembled it and only to find out that the recoil spring is a lot shorter than what a full size 5" barrel 1911 should be. So I bought an aftermarket Wilson Combat 18# spring (or maybe 20#? I can't remember), which is 1-1/2" or so longer compared to the spring it came with...needless to say, haven't had a problem ever since.
16# is the sweet spot, don’t go over 18#.

Hickock is right! I recently got one of these RIAs and its awesome . I got a 4.25" barrel .22TCM and it shoots 9mm just swap the barrel. Its not very heavy and holds 17 +1 rounds! I had a few polymer 9 mm guns but nothing feels as right in your hand as a 1911 , Its hard to explain but it feels better and points better to me. Being 3/4" shorter it weighs less and can easily be your EDC. I NEVER feel out ammoed by a Glock style polymer gun since I have 18 rounds in it. Now that the stainless/alum cased ARX ammo is out my ammo weight just dropped in half too!

I'm a fan of the cartel 1911s that they auction out. 1500-10k depending on the jewlery though
This is a bone stock G.I. 1911. There is absolutely nothing special about it except the G10 grip panels. This is literally, a 1911 design, from 1911, without any of the modernization found on most 1911s.
i own one and hope you arent serious. check out the pair made out of a meteorite
same, my fav are kimbers and ruger sr1911 (especially cuz ruger is in 10 mm)
dont get me wrong i love my ria.i just know there is better out there than an import i paid 500 bucks for
Mr. Hickok45, Big Fan Here. You Sir are a "badass". The way you lit up that Rock Island Tac was super impressive. Thank you!
Hickok45 is like Bob Ross but with guns :)
Well he does paint his range tapestry with colorful 2 liter bottles of soda!
I love the lines of a 1911 style pistol. 2 tones, all black, all stainless, orginal finish. I like the way they shoot and feel. My dad built a few Caspians before he died. And I hold them dear to me. But Rock islands are hard to beat for the money. Now if armscor would just make an m1a I'd be set
Long live! Best regards from the Philippines!
Totally agree with what you said about the hobby of it. I enjoy trying to put my firearms back together with my eyes closed , that said, I always double check with eyes "open" before taking them to the range.
Now I got to buy a Rock Island..... 1911 platform is too simple and amazing to mess up and this things CHEAP!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Watching the bullets arc in towards the targets like thrown rocks in the section starting around 6:55 is all sorts of amusing. I truly love .45 ACP.
