In the RUclips world where a lot of commentators seem to be more concerned with how many subscribers they have, Hickok is one of the very few people who put out quality material that can get people to watch a 35 minute RUclips video. He keeps it interesting, is very informative, and very passionate about what he talks about. I enjoy the history lessons and comedy you bring to your channel.
Thank you for your videos. I am not a huge gun fanatic but I love 1911s. Been on this earth for over 100 years and still preferred by certain military personnel is something no other gun yet has to boast about. Got my first 1911 last summer. Never ceases to amaze me.

I then went to carrying a Springfield 1911, then Kimber Stainless II 1911 and now carry my stainless Colt Goverment Model Series 80 1911. Love those weapons. Great video sir. Don't go cheap when buying a 1911. I made that mistake and got a cheaper one (don't want to say the brand, but it was on the lower end price wise) and it jammed all the time, had a shaky slide to receiver fit and had an all around cheap feel to it. I later handled a Colt 1911 and felt a world of difference. I have held a Les Baer but have not shot one, but the fit and finish looks every bit worth the extra money!! I want a Baer 1911 one day.
Arguably, the greatest pistol ever made. It was way ahead of it's time. To this day it looks modern. Now available in many calibers as well. I have one in 10mm and love it. I had one in .45 acp and will again some day.
@TOOHOOAH, I don't do much of that now; I spent so many years standing around shooting ranges doing that. And one thing you discover, too, is that it's really hard to get good video footage at IPSC type matches. It's generally from behind, and many of the targets are not visible.
My gpa used a m1 and a 1911 side arm when he was in the guard. Great gpa used a Model 1903 with a m1911 colt side arm in ww2. Grandpa has the 1903 my great grandpa used in ww2. I hope to some day inherit the family heirloom to cherish and admire my great grandfathers service to this country. I hope to teach my children the same respect toward it and to keep it forever as well.
Been binging on your videos and finally got here. A *Remington 1911 R1* is my first firearm and i gotta say ive been in love with the 1911 style since i was a little boy playing with plastic 1911 toy guns! This was a very interesting and sweet video thank you. :)
I have a 1927 manufactured Colt 1911 not sure of the version, it has the long trigger and arched mainspring housing. It still shoots great! Never jams and it's my go to pistol. Nothing like a 1911 in my opinion. Thanks for the video hickok45, great to watch , as usual!
I believe, and this is my opinion, that the 1911 .45 is the best pistol ever manufactured. Being only 16 years old, I haven't had a ton of time on this earth to be taken completely seriously, but I still believe that this is the best pistol ever made. My dad owns the Springfield Range Officer, which he got in 2011. I can say with complete honesty that it is the best shooting pistol I have ever fired. If I had to chose one gun and caliber for my life to depend on, it would be the 1911 in .45 ACP.
I know this video was old when I found it, but I'm glad I did. I carried a 1911 in the USN aboard ship until I left in 1993 (they were on the bottom of the procurement for the M9 - I was soooo glad). The best I've owned, believe it or not, was an Argentine Army surplus. Bad bore, rattled like a tin can with rocks (just like the Navy pistols), but shot and ran like a dream. Rock Island milspec is what I have now and it's more than good enough.
ive been watching videos of hickok for a while..and just went back and learned that the 1911 was adopted on my bday..swwweeeeeeeeet ...thanks for the vids hickok
Nope, ah does fully beh-lieve he'd carry an original 1911 -- flat mainspring housing, long trigger. (so I'm biased, so what - I find the A1 just doesn't fit my hand right. But the original? Ooooh baaab-yyy! Like a glove!)
To be the Governor of a state that limits gun owners and then portray a character that has access to any and all weapons that his very state calls "illegal" and "assault weapons" is hypocrisy at its finest.
You're a cool dude Mr. Hickok, you have taught me so much and I watch all of your videos before I make a new purchase. I just started getting into it, but so far I have a S&W 500 (great videos you have on that, I show all of my family and friends) a Ruger LCP, and a Walther PPK/S. I want a 1911 but I'm going to wait for a gun show to get one. Thanks again for everything, and you're right, MyJohnny6969 has no class haha.
Hats off to the most American auto-pistol there is!! Long live the 1911!!

It's crazy to think of how Browning designed a gun that could stand the test of time. Even today it's still relevant. Great video.

Did you name your son after John Browning?
Happy Hundredth! Brilliant vid and an great tribute! Ty.
my grandfather that went to japan used the 1911 and when he came back said the 1911 was one of the best guns ever
Nothing can beat you when you've got a piece of history in your hands...
I've noticed the box of romeo y julieta's you always have. you should also consider doing cigar reviews. there's a big fan base for that on youtube
Hey Hickok, can you review a Remington 1911r1? I'd like to see what you have to say about em
My absolute favorite handgun. Own more than a few of these. My EDC is a variant of a 1911.
see that ka-bar back their

Year of 2018 lol
I purchased a real 1911 45 A1 from ww2 for 1,400 , did I over pay ? It’s a Remington rand made in 1944, in good condition
Alfonso Gonzalez Sounds about right to me. I just bought my first 1911, Colt Govt model series 70 for $600!
Love the sound of gong in the morning. Awesome video hickcock. I say still the best semi-auto made. Enjoyed watching you shoot.
If god carried a gun it would be a 1911a1
No, the only gun that god carries is his thumb and his pointer finger. Bang! Bang! Pew! Pew!
Nope, ah does fully beh-lieve he'd carry an original 1911 -- flat mainspring housing, long trigger. (so I'm biased, so what - I find the A1 just doesn't fit my hand right. But the original? Ooooh baaab-yyy! Like a glove!)
its one of the best ive ever seen about the 1911 :) love this :* really special thanks from germany :*
16:10 i cri evrytiem.
Great shooting! And that range looks soooo much fun! I love 1911's! Just got my first one and hope to have many more in the future.
To be the Governor of a state that limits gun owners and then portray a character that has access to any and all weapons that his very state calls "illegal" and "assault weapons" is hypocrisy at its finest.
What?
You're a cool dude Mr. Hickok, you have taught me so much and I watch all of your videos before I make a new purchase. I just started getting into it, but so far I have a S&W 500 (great videos you have on that, I show all of my family and friends) a Ruger LCP, and a Walther PPK/S. I want a 1911 but I'm going to wait for a gun show to get one. Thanks again for everything, and you're right, MyJohnny6969 has no class haha.
So much M1911 porn.
I love 1911's... Ur channel is the best when it comes to gun reviews!!!
Does video of 1911 anniversary, wears Glock hat. John Moses Browning would not be happy lol.
😁
Simply a classic video of a classic designer of genius and quality.
