Star Trek 4 is the working title for an American science fiction film in development at Paramount Pictures, based on the television series Star Trek by Gene Roddenberry. It is intended to be the fourteenth film in the Star Trek film franchise and the fourth installment in the reboot series. There have been several different iterations of the film in development since 2015.
Development of a new Star Trek film following Star Trek Beyond (2016) was revealed before the release of that film, with J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay writing. In December 2017, Quentin Tarantino pitched his own idea for a new Star Trek film to producer J. J. Abrams, and development began separately from the Beyond sequel. S. J. Clarkson was hired to direct the latter in April 2018, but negotiations with stars Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth ended that August with the actors leaving the project. Noah Hawley was hired in November 2019 to write and direct a new version of the franchise. Tarantino revealed in January 2020 that he had decided not to direct his Star Trek film. Hawley's version was placed on hold that August to allow Paramount to decide on the best direction for the franchise. Kalinda Vazquez was set to write the script for a new film based on her own original idea in March 2021, while a separate script was developed by Lindsey Beer and Geneva Robertson-Dworet. Matt Shakman was hired to direct the latter film in July, and the script was being re-written by Josh Friedman and Cameron Squires in November. Negotiations for the return of Pine and the rest of the main cast from the reboot series began in February 2022. The film is scheduled for release on December 22, 2023.

The Abrahms cast is my favorite. Pine, Quinto, etc. Would love to see them together again. If they needed someone to replace Checkov I always thought West Side Story's Ben Cook would be a good actor to be the new Checkov.
Ben Cook looks like a good replacement for Anton. I thought that they could write Anton's death into the story ( being Checkov's death ) but then replacing him with his own son, Checkov junior to take his place, then the character of Checkov will still live on and someone who looks like Anton would be perfect to carry on the linage - it's a thought anyway.

Bring back William Shatner as Kirk. He has said he would do it and be happy to use AI. He is the original and the best. It would be epic. After all, he is older than Patrick Stewart but in better condition, and the Picard series was brilliant. I saw the 40th anniversary of The Search For Spock on the big screen just a week ago, and it still blows away any of the new reboots of the original characters.
Yes that would be awesome, bringing back Shatner s Kirk, would be a great way for the Kelvin timeline S.T series, to end ,
@@justinfiorenzio7112 Totally agree with you. The modern versions of Star Trek seem to be losing what made Star Trek the great series it was. At least they got it right with Picard, and was filled with tributes in all directions of the past.
First 2 movies were great . Star Trek Beyond lost me . Let's hope # 4 is back up there 🙏
All Star Trek - every single one is excellent in my book - real sorry you couldn't see that in the third movie because I thought it was as good as the first and second - but I think I am bias because I have been watching Star Trek since I was a young teenager and now I am 60+ so I have and will always love all Star Trek !!!

Part of the problem here is the odd death of the actor playing Checkov. That character is in Roddenberry's time-line is supposed to be alive. Star Wars attempted deep fakes with some success.
Star Trek 4 to be the last chapter of the JJ Abrams Saga OH MY GOD YOU DON'T KNOW HOW HAPPY I AM TO HEAR THIS! As much as I love the actors and characters I hate their portrayal of the original crew and cast I hate the fact that all JJ Abrams Star Trek movies remained as the alternate reality I kept saying When are we going to get back to the original reality It became so redundant! There are so many amazing novels out there about the original cast that captivated me more than any script that JJ Abrams has come up with and his Paramount so cheap not to pay These authors are now the surviving family members cuz I know many of them are dead now and bye the rights to these extraordinary novels make a movie script doing them justice and for God's sakes Can you please tell Chris Pine to quit acting like a spoiled brat or should I say those who direct them and produce him and interpret his Captain Kirk character every movie I see with Chris Pine not playing in a Star Trek movie is more like Captain Kirk Then when he plays Captain Kirk in the JJ Abrams saga and alternate reality Oh that's right it's an alternate reality so in the alternate reality Captain Kirk is portrayed is a whiny punk kid and not a man! Star Trek 4 needs to be a resolution to the various different timelines and ending in a satisfactory tone the Kelvin timeline after that letting the cast go forward.
I think for future movies, you should talk The Doom movie the 2 coming Doom Annihilation sequel and a reboot that’s supposed to be exactly like the game
I have watched the Doom movie and though it really bothered me how much it diverged from all the games. It has become one of my absolute favourites to watch.

Why something is made so complicated? Try to get Pine, Quinto, etc ...if bulding known crew fails, a new ship with new cool crew in a new region of space (simillar Voyager), then connect this to the Star Trek Universe that we know.

While I do like the new Spock actor he did not do a faithful rendition. Where was the stoicism? The bullying Vulcan children were similarly motivated by emotion. Part of the equation was Nimoy's deeper voice.
And the relationship with Uhura?
Abrams Star Trek kelvin timeline is in ablis until contracts are signed on the dotted line.Also these actors really committed to a good storyline and each actor has a vital role for each character. People will not go out unless it is good movie . It does matter what the movie critics say .Many great films have grow in more popularity than critics give on a bad review.
Why would you want the Kelvin timeline? Make something new and Good and people will come. Star Trek is a MESS of contracts and tangled timelines and Spoor drives and ... too much baggage.
Orville did better on a shoe string budget by splitting off from the nonsense and keeping the good bits. With an actual budget, the sky's the limit.

How about... StarTrek Excelsior where Captain Sulu is evacuating an federation member world ahead of the supernova of their star when the ambassador of tuat world recognizes Sulu's science officer as an enemy and kills him in front of sulu. After stunning the ambassador and tossing him in the brig sulu finds he was injured in the fight and passes out. He wakes in medical to the news the ambassador in the brig was killed by an unidentified assailant. So begins a murder investigation where his crew are the suspects.

I'm a star trek fun watch every movie all the time
The "difficulty" of having grown up with Star Trek as a young boy, isn't the fact that it should be "Timeless" it's more the point that it should be constantly evolving far faster than it has. Whilst some could argue it was the fault of the Producers, and the likes of J.J .Abrams, it possibly that era with the likes of George Lucas, and Steven Spielberg apologies for my dyslexia. That saw these "Film Makers" trap their followers into years of unquestionable allegiance. For them to capitalize on their franchises throughout the decades.
Now, being much older, and recently having watched Dune, one can get that invigorated sense of a new breeze that is sweeping the "Film Industry", which is long overdue. As I look back at the "Collection of Great Syfy Movies, some are cringe-worthy in this day and age. Allowing them to collect dust in the timeless hall of fame.
The one forever unanswered question that remains is who at the time came up with the bevy of futuristic terms and technologies that we now have managed to create???? Let the mystery remain. After all a World that would carelessly believe in the "Fermi-Paradox" is nothing short of a contradiction in itself. My belief is that we have never been alone since the beginning of time and that we still share our world with other non-terrestrial beings/even if trans dimensional beyond our understanding.
As we move closer to A.I. and the age of automation whereby we will have factories in "Space" it will be the dawn of a new era.
I want Tarantino to direct this Star Trek❤

With old Spock why didn't he just go to the planet that had the arch that took Kirk and Spock back into the past to retrieve McCoy, and use it to keep the Kelvin time lime from ever happening? It took an entire hour to find the correct time line intersection with (Edith Keller) to set the time back to the way it was. Their actions in the past put things back to the way they were in the future! Not even the bum who was evaporated by McCoy's phaser overload changed anything!
NO to reboot! Still gotta do the slingshot around the sun time warp...

I love the Abrams cast but hate the direction, writing, and alternate timeline. There are a few things that ruined it for me. The Enterprise being built on the ground, kirk being born in space and the engine room looks like a beer brewery. Keep Abrams away. If Abrams directs the next one it I'll wait to watch it when it streams for free.

Movie writers have no creativity writing for established tv/movie universes. Novel writers do. We just jave look at the Star Wars novels that built on that universe that Disney decided to negate.
