Do you think it is possible the "muscle loss" and "accelerated hypertrophy" around the break-weeks in the studies mentioned can be traced back to more chronic variants of post exercise muscle swelling? I mean, there is not only the pump, but as far as I know there is some kind of lower level swelling due to increased metabolic activity/repair-processes (immune-system-activity/"inflammation"?) in that region.
