I've always loved his style of riff writing, The New Order and The Gathering have some of the best thrash riffs of all time.
Testament's guitar sound always put me in mind of (British thrashers) Sabbat, who are of the same era as the albums you mention. There's a kind of 'medieval' vibe going on there, which I've always thought was really cool.
@@karlsavage7495 - Agreed! There are some guitar parts on both bands' 1st 2 albums that are very similar. Which makes sense as they obviously share influences being from the same time period. Cool that Andy got to produce their later albums. I just wish Sabbat could've carried on tho, they're one of my all time fave thrash bands.

One pattern that I've picked up on with these interviews with thrash metal rockers and most heavy metal folks is just how down to earth they are. No pretentious bullshit. No 'Look at me'-Diva crap, just humble, every day chill-take my kids to school and do everyday things. I want to be invited over for dinner because that pasta dish looks great.
I never realized how down to earth and cool Eric is. Seems like a really great dad also. His kids must be really proud of their dad I'm guessing. Awesome guitarist also. I've always really liked his playing. \m/
I met him a few months ago and all i can say is that he is a very cool guy. We laugh because he didn't believe me that i am mexican (redhead and european look)

l am a big fan of testament since 1987-when i was 16 y. o. Eric is a really-really nice guy, I met him (at last!! ) in my city (Thessaloniki-Greece) in 2008.We spoke at least for an hour. For me is the best rythm guitarist (+very good solos) in thrash metal with so much power when he plays... I think he has a "huge volume TOTEM thrash brain" , not a human! Cool video.. Eric has a normal life like us but in his music... is a BEAST!!! Best Regards from Greece

Just watched this entire thing and I'm still scratching my head as to why we need to know this stuff (I thought he was gonna be talking about the band and music before I started watching...). That's one cool dad though - although kids being kids, they probably couldn't give a shit that he's regarded as one of the greatest guitarists to be drawing breath. To them he's just 'Dad'. 😄
Oh yes, total understand!! Once children reach a certain age in their teens, parents are no longer cool enough for them and all they want to do is hang out with friends. Going through that right now...
Same here lol small worlds i guess my oldest son is living in NY in the Army got my 1st grandchild my daughter is soon to be 18 and we hardly see her nowadays because of Vollyball practices and of course her precious friends thing i love though is that we're two peas in a pod we're super close same with my *baby* son who will be 16! :(

I always loved TestamenT. I knew these guys were cool. I saw them a bunch of times but one in particular show was in Passaic NJ in the late 80’s with Anthrax and Exodus. It was awesome

We really want you guys to keep standing on those stages for a long time so make sure you keep your back straight with those deadlifts! It's just your butt pushing back is the first movement and make sure you feel the lower back getting engaged throughout the whole exercise! And pornfood really made my day haha! Very inspiring video!

Still kinda salty about Eric/Chuck vs Greg tho.. but the man can riff, that's for sure, and his solos have gotten really good!
I've come to accept that we'll never know exactly what happened and so I just focus on the music. I mean, Greg was a great player, but Steve and Gene seem like really chill guys and I can't imagine they'd be in the band if Eric and Chuck were complete assholes. But then again, who knows!
