Talked to Alex live backstage after a Testament gig once. He handed me a flyer on his jazz project and kindly asked me to check it out. He is so down to earth and yet one of the best shredders in the Bay Area Metal scene, hands down!
Mr. Alex Skolnick is incredible! Without a doubt, he's in my top 5 of all time best guitarists! Alex is the reason why I picked up the guitar when I was a sophomore in high school...back in 1980! Amazing guitar player, and Testament is an amazing band!!

I'm now living in Honolulu Hawaii and one morning I was walking down the sidewalk head to work and there was a man jogging towards me and I seen his long hair tied back so that's what really kinda caught my eye. As he approached me and started to pass me I just happened to glance over at him and it was Alex! With out even thinking I shouted out his name and he stopped dead in his tracks. I think he was as surprised as I was! he said you must be a fan ! I just kinds laughed and said yeah kinda. So he stood there for about 10 minutes and we just talked about past shows that I seen growing up back in Detroit. He is a very friendly well spoken guy And very very intelligent ! So after a short conversation he shook my hand and thanked me for being a fan and then hem, NC went back to his morning run !

It sounds like Testament really let Gene haul on the new album. Rock on. As for Skolnick, he has always seemed like one of the smartest and down to earth 'rockstars'. He has retained 'normality'. I think that comes along with intelligence and being raised properly.
