I can recommend you the videos of Kim Bertilsson, he has found a nice way to patina the leather naturally. I destroyed my cases bc i also coloured it, but i like the natural patina look. But i appreciate that you did this video and shared your studies about the leather cases. There are a lot people who want the old leather case quality back...
Hey, just came across your video. Apple’s cases are now painted and have a huge layer of protection on them. You’d be much much better off going with a case from Andar or Bullstrap. Both are natural leather (not painted) and no protective layer. They’re basically the way Apples old saddle brown leather cases used to be. I have an Andar case now and I love it
Thanks for the tip! I will check that out when I get my next phone. My case after I treated it was never as good as the old saddle brown that patinaed naturally but it saved me from having to throw it away. I still use it today. But next one I will definitly try an Andar!
@@ChallengeTheory no problem at all. You’ll constantly bang your head against the wall trying to make chicken soup out of the new Apple cases. The Andar even added the bottom of the phone covered on leather, just like the Apple one. The buttons are just as good or even better than the Apple buttons. Basically, there is zero downside to going to the Andar. It’ll save you a ton of aggravation
@@Corbob71 I just checked them out and they are even cheaper. Back when I got my last case most of the off brands looked bulkier. This Andar has the same minimalist look as the Apple case which I like. Very cool.
@@ChallengeTheory absolutely! I can confirm that it is very minimalist like the Apple case. I know what you mean that others are bulky but Andar definitely is not. It’s basically just like the Apple case when they made a true saddle brown leather
Ha! I'm still using the case today and I was going to throw it out with the orange color it was before! It is totally different than the look I got with the previous saddle brown case that patinaed naturally.
@@RUY2323 Thanks for the tip! When I get my next phone I will try to naturally patina another apple case, that is how they look the best if you are patient enough to wait!

Thanks for the tip! I liked his method because it looks like it causes the least damage to the leather. Thanks for the comment!

Hey Jim, how do you think that it will hold up to the california poppy case ?
I would guess the final color would be a different shade of brown. I've only done the 1 case so I'm not sure. Let me know if you try it!
That looks terrible!!!
