Though many comments are from the past - because of my mom I grew up with Genesis - She’s 79 and I’m 57 - I first heard of Genesis in 79 - saw many concerts so much thnx to all in the Band - Miss u all but we all get old unfortunately
Yeah, I can't remember how I found them, but I got into the PG era stuff when I was going through my college days looking into all sorts of 'what's out there' kind of music. I grew up in the 80s so I remember hearing Genesis on the radio and was shocked to hear the difference.
I really like that, despite the HUGE shift in tone, they still pay tribute to their older music. I mean, Collins wasn't even in the band when Stagnation was recorded, but they still do a great tribute to it.
I'm guessing Wind & Wuthering 😍
Chester Thompson & Phil Collins: Two of the hardest working men in show business.
I dont care what anybody says... his voice was RIPE! On this tour! ❤️ LOVE!
My absolute favorite moment in this performance is when they kick in with the Stagnation part and Phil just smiles and turns the mic to audience and they all start singing. Goosebumps every time.
I agree! I love that part too
Me too! Trespass gets in there!!!
Exactly! I love that they at least pay homage to that bit of their career with Anthony by doing that melody
Me four!!! LoL excellent...

This breaks my heart because we'll never see Phil do that with a tambourine ever again.
Apparently, he just did it, sitting down, in Birmingham. :)
@@hogweed1975 Yeah, I saw that. It was heartbreaking to be honest :(
@@przemysawdobrzynski2590 Don't know. He's old. And frail. That's life, my friend. That he chooses to not let it stop him doing fun things, and not be ashamed of the frailty we are all going to experience, doesn't break my heart at all. In fact, it fills it with joy.
@@hogweed1975 There is something very consoling in what you're saying. Still, looking at his performances from decades ago and seeing him now in this state reminds me about the tragedy of the human life. At some level it can be beautiful and accepting this can be empowering but it's also sad that everyone of us is gonna have to face it.
@@przemysawdobrzynski2590 Out of curiosity, did you see him do the tambourine while seated live or in video clips?
GENESIS, I HAVE BEEN A BIG FAN SINCE 1974, I HAVE MOST OF THEIR ALBUMS AND PHIL YOU ARE THE GREATEST.
What a band....The best ever!!!!!
Totally agree!
Roma 🇮🇹... I was there, lived it, breathed it, loved it.. speciali✌️
Lucky you!!!
Saw this in the States and was the best concert from them that I have seen and have seen them since 1977...
Hollywood bowl show 2007
@@squonk86 Wow, I'm choked up everytime I here Phil's vocals with the band. Never have seen them or Phil's solo shows~👍😭💃❤
@@michellerjackson5776 I'm so sorry you never got to see Genesis or Phil solo and they did put on the best concerts I have ever seen.. I don't know where your from but Genesis is getting back together just to do shows in the U.K.
The crowd is so cool towards the end as they sing along. Daryl's solo is so crisp, the tone he gets is unreal!
The DW drum kit is gorgeous.
Nossa minha infância, curtia muito, viva o rock, gosto muito do genesis
6:04 so beautiful to hear the stadium singing along to Stagnation
Richard hammond would simply love this
What a beautiful voice Phil Collins has.
Love it when Phil sings "It's your show.... ROMA it's YOUR show!" Shame if that was lost in translation, it's a lovely sentiment!
It wasn't you can hear the ovations
A true "Super Group" lasting the test of time gentlemen, Phil I wish you a speedy recovery. God Bless.
One of THE best moments is 7:21 when Phil just yes “YES!” And hops. God he is legendary!
Phil in great voice and form here. Great sound guys with an awesome song from their legendary progrock period, my favorite time for Genesis.
I Know What I Like and Stagnation both have those simple hook melodies that get in your head all day.
Greatest band the UK has ever produced - hands down! Probably the greatest band the WORLD has ever produced!
Don't forget: Earth, Wind & Fire
@@jeftesantos6845
Funny enough an English guy I respect immensely, who is a radio presenter, reckons *E W & F* as one of the greatest & his background is actually in Punk!
@@pup1008 Ok. It' allright!!!
Don’t forget Led Zepplin. Genesis how ever, is my most favorite band of all time. And have been for 45yrs.
@@lauremehrkens5891
I like Zep but they are a little bit like musical magpies. The whole Stairway to Heaven/Taurus thing stuck in my throat a bit....
Back in the day I used to knock about with *Jason Bonham,* mate of mine was in a band with him!
What a great voice from Phil😊💕👌🌸
Absolutely gorgeous how they mixed the songs so seamlessly.....
This brings tears to my eyes. Saw them play this 2 or 3 times. Last time Phil Collins did it sitting in a chair. Wasn't the same, but it still brought tears to me eyes. That was their Farewell tour. Sad.
I love this song and Phil Collins
I was the fortune to see this tour in Montreal in 2007and was really amazing!! Without doubt, My favorite band!!
Am I allowed to say I'm proud of the music my nation, 🇬🇧, gave the world?
I don't think I am as we never seem to get a call out for it....😕
Australian- born, I have for decades applauded two of the most marvellous creative input the Brits have given the world: the major Romanticist Poets and progessive rock music. Love you super musos, Genesis 😊.
@@robertfranklin8704
Thank you very much for that!
Yes mate if there's something to be proud of is definitely british music! You wouldn't brag about your food would ya 😂
@@eiredalta
👍 Certainly was true about the food but where music & a lot of other things have gone down in the country food has improved an awful lot.
There might still be a way to go with some people but nationally we are a lot better &, along with a host of celebrity chefs, I think we rank Top 5 for the number of *Michelin* ⭐ restaurants. 👍.
@@pup1008 yeah buddy and they all cook french food xD
Love it when the crowd get into the song absolutely awesome!!!!
Yea it was like that when I saw them in Buffao N.Y and the crowd was singing every tune and I was hoarse for 3 days after this concert... Best ever!!!
One of my desert island discs - and I love the tambourine antics. Phil turned this into a live favourite.
DA di dam di dam DA....❤❤❤ this song
Genesis got so much better with Phil Collins as singer and after Steve Hackett left.
Stick it up your ass, Jim Shit.
I know every single word Genisis disco period
i luv this track, forever one of my favs from them!
The true sound of Genesis, whoever sings it!
Pete.
Wonderful Performance, I love how Phil play with tambourine.
Owww. What a great performance´s Phill and his musicians. So amanzing. !!!
This live performance brings me to tears. I don't know what about this is so powerful, but a performer like Phil Collins and the beautiful melody this song brings is so impactful. Grateful for this band and all their wonderful works.
Me too
'Genesis didnt work on Hammond, so I rammed him.' - Jeremy Clarkson.
Daryl Stuermer absolutely slays that guitar!
It´s nice to see 500 hundred thousand people joining Genesis and Phil Collins in only one show!!!
For a guy who struggles to play drums do to Arthritis, Phil sure know's how to rock a tambourine!
I thought it was due to a back thing?
Trying to collect disability.
@@suzettespencer Shaking my head for your comment...
When some people play the fuck out of the drums over years and years, all over the world, like Phil has, the back is destroyed. He had to have his back practically rebuilt
This was the final European date of their 2007 Turn It On Again Tour in front of 500,000 in Rome. Since the early '70s, it's been said that Italian fans were some of the few that were passionate about Genesis' work (even in their more proggy days). Therefore, it's only fitting that perhaps their biggest audience ever would be at this show. The nod to "Stagnation" was another nice touch. BTW, the performance is killer - and the retrospective clips in the background were awesome as well.
I love when he sings the Stagnation Chorus!!!
I would love him to but at least you get the guitar solo :-)
my baby brother and I , saw them in Indianapolis, 6/28/92 , then again in Columbus, 9/27/07...and to this day , they remain the two best tours dates I've ever made...bar none !
Chester (the drummer) keeps this song alive
Ok, I legit did not expect Phil to go full ham with the tambourine. Awesome!
Well he can't play drums anymore
I love that song
@@TheMetalMisfits He played drums on this tour.
@@oliveryoung6402 well I mean in 2020 lol
OK...utterly brilliant.
Phil and Ray Cooper are the only people who can make playing a tambourine that entertaining to watch. Watching this, you wouldn't guess that Phil was already in quite a bit of pain that would eventually confine him to the state he's in now.
Man, that Daryl knows his way around a fretboard. Superlative.
i listen to this song i miss my youth wondering where the time went
Me too.
This is classic Genesis and got goosebumps when they sang this in 2007 because they never sang this after 1977 and one of my favorites.
1:30 "AAGHH I HATE THAT BIT!!! IT'S THAT BIT!!!"-Richard Hammond.
Hahaha! "How should we cheer him up?"...."Genesis normally does the trick"...
"IM GENESISING HIM"
4:43 Richard Hammond: Bloody keyboard solo!
This is the comment I came for 😂🙈
Great song. Love Genesis and Phil Collins!
AGREED
5:26 I love how they added a quick reference to Blood on the Rooftops
WE ALL MISS YOU GUYS IN OUR COUNTRY !!!
BRAZIL LOVES YOU TO SEE TURN IT ON AGAIN AND AGAIN!!
Des moments inoubliables de ma jeunesse.
J'aime cette musique
superb i love this song.
Damn saw this tour Turn it on Again and love this tune but only when Phil sings it and he puts so much more energy into it well anyway I was hoarse from singing my ass off and they played songs like this,Ripples and their encore The Carpet Crawlers and what a concert this was.Thank you Genesis!!!
Including Richard hammond
Philly always a great show!!!
My favorite album ever. I have it on digital, CD and vinyl...
Absolutely GORGEOUS song!!!! This song makes me remind of Avenida Paulista (Paulista Avenue) in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil. In 2019 I had the opportunity to visit São Paulo. Most songs remind you of certain cities. I missed this city so much
Richard Hammond: *internal screaming*
ARGHHH I HATE THAT BIT
Hammond would hate this lol
So missing these guys!
Amava e continuo amando vcs.
We are never going to hear him sing again. It breaks my heart as well
Wow! Just WOW!!!!
Superba cheese)))) Magnifico.
the stagnation bit is cool as always, and always a bit different. I love Genesis.
Proper Genesis music from the Hackett era . Genesis so miss Steve Hackett . Brilliant.

A dança do tamborim é espetacular!! ❤️
ARGHHHH CLARKSOOOOON
I am not sure why this track makes me so emotional but maybe it is because it was my first time I heard genesis back in the 70,s...... Thank you for some great memories!!...... So sad to think that they will never play live again 😢
I use to fall asleep to this song.
Luv it! (One Day)..
From an old funkateer I love this record, always have
everyone is having fun in this. band and audience. silly to have negativity here. clearly phil was really engaging the audience. that guitar part i haven't heard in the original version, it's good!!!
J aime Genesis
Great show! Excellent song! This version really kicks ass! I miss Peter and Hackett, but Genesis is still my all-time favorite band, most especially during the Trespass to Duke era! Love the '70's era Genesis! The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is my most beloved album, and Seconds Out is a fantastic live recording! Selling England by the Pound is a masterpiece....along with Foxtrot and Nursery Cryme. I even love Wind and Wuthering and Trick of the Tail. Great albums, even sans Peter.
Excuse me? I've been a Genesis Fan longer than you've been alive. I saw them many times over the years from Peter's era to Phil's era. Both were brilliant times and I love Genesis, no matter who was singing up front. Peter's time with Genesis made some of Progressive Rock's greatest albums, but that doesn't mean Phil couldn't do a great job as helmsman of the band! It gave the band a different sound, and yes, I do think after Duke they took a more commercial turn, but I appreciate what Phil did!
I DO have both of Hackett's CD's of Genesis Revisited (1 and 2), and they are fantastic! I also have Hackett's The Tokyo Tapes: Live in Japan, and both Genesis Revisited DVD's, Live at The Royal Albert Hall and Live at Hammersmith. Are they better than the 2007 concert in Rome, titled When In Rome, as far as shows go? I don't think so! I like them all! I am a Genesis FANATIC to the core, and though I miss Peter and Steve being in the band, I still love the shows and I think Phil is a great front-man!
You need to chill out, stop with the ALL CAPS posting, and the use of low brow language, and just accept that Peter left for HIS reasons, and so did Hackett! The rest decided to continue the band, and there are some great shows because of that! And not every Genesis fan believes the way you do. Even ones like myself who have followed the band since the early 70's!
You need to grow up, get out of mommy's basement and get a life!
I agree. The tour to support Seconds Out was sonic.
Never been into Genesis or Phil Collins but I have to say this is a cracking performance of a great song.
fave genesis track............go on phil.saw u leeds roundhay park.nice 1
A modern Masterpiece of the early GenerationGenesis. Rhino: Stop trying to take credit
Genesis is way too good to be idle, they need to go on tour again, and maybe make a new album.
I have faith that they will go on tour one more time, but they will not make a new album. Tony said once in an interview that there was nothing else to record.
4.41 is magic...
I remember seeing this live. Loved it then, love it now! 😁
It’s, it’s that bit!
Oh great, bloody keyboard solo.
wow...lucky audience
Saw the same concert in 2007 in Buffalo N.Y. and the crowd was into just like here in Rome and singing to every song and I know I was so horse after the concert and couldn't talk for 3 days,so Fucking cool....
With or without it... With, of course. Unforgettable Peter.
so awesome! especially the part with Phil's little "dancing"! :)
