I love Ecamm and was sad to leave because I just didn't like the Skype integration. I have since moved to a competitor and while it's good it's not Ecamm BUT, I feel that capping the interview time at 100 hours is a little shortsighted considering your competitors offer it unlimited on their pro levels. I almost came back but my twitch shows are 2 hrs a day. That 100 hrs would be eaten up in less than 3 months. Maybe it will change in the future.

I see you said you left Ecamm for a competitor and I’m wondering which one? Ecamm has some features that I love, but what other options might be better?

Thank you Adrian. May I ask whether the Guest needs to be on a Mac for full functionality? I'm thinking that it will work with PC android, but would appreciate confirmation and also whether full functionality for the guest (screen sharing, ability to see comments) is tied to them having a Mac?
No, guests can come on from any device and do not need to be Ecamm Live users. Yes, they can screen share and see comments even if they're on a phone, tablet, or PC.
Confused at 14:29. You pre set a scene with you on the left and Owen on the right. How did you do that? I was able to preset the previous scene, in your case the one that just featured Owen assigned to camera 1, but how do I get two on screen?
Did you work it out? You can set a scene with your camera and see in the camera switcher where it shows Guest 1 - click the little + symbol on the thumbnail and it will bring Guest 1 to your side. Whenever you bring in a guest allocate them to Guest 1 and they'll be in the right place in your scene :-)
Is there a way to preview titles if you have a last minute notification you want to screen live? The reason I ask is sometimes I need to resize title position while live so it looks unprofessional things moving around live.

@@EcammLive If there was a way to separate the "green room" audio from the "broadcast" audio so you could control each separately that would be ideal. Maybe there isn't much demand for this scenario, but I am continuing to use Skype for that reason, because I can mute my own audio in Ecamm so it doesn't come through the broadcast, but can still communicate with the host/guest in Skype if needed to cue them up during countdowns, videos, etc.,
Great content as usual, Adrian! Would love to see you demo Host+Guest while screensharing a browser that is playing a RUclips video (or some other video) - with audio that all can hear. I can’t seem to get this working without my guest sounding like he’s in an echo chamber. Sadly, enabling “echo cancellation” seems to drop the audio of the screen share from reaching the guest or final recording. Anyway, great content. Thank you!

Hey Adrian, regards from Germany - great video! I am planning on using the Ecamm interview feature for my media trainings. One question I ask myself (and now you): Is there a way to record my interviewee or the whole interview scene in order to play the interview recording back to me and my interviewee/client afterwards so we can analyse his or her performance during the interview? Thank you so much and have a great day, Harald
This is really good, and I'll definitely be subscribing this week to give it a try. However, as other people commented, the only thing that is missing is the possibility of having a waiting room where a the streaming assistant could talk to the guest before going live, so the guest is ready to go when the time comes. For example, imagine that I'm doing interviews back to back as a host of a show, so I'm currently live with a guest and the next one will connect while I'm on air. If the streaming assistant could talk to the next guest in the waiting room before putting him on air to talk to me, when the time comes the guest would be totally ready to go. It's reasonable to think that you would need to use a usb mic and the computer headphones output (or a small iScarlett) for the waiting room audio, and a Rødecaster Pro/other usb-connected mixer for the actual show. By leveraging scenes, we could instantly move the guest from one audio input/output to another and it would make for a great interview and streaming experience.
Excellent video. How were you able to make the boarders. This has always been something I wanted with Ecamm. Because it doesn’t allow you to customize the interview frame like Vmix and other software. Can you help me?
This is great! I've just started using Ecamm Live and I'm hoping to use this for my gaming stream moving forward. The Interview Mode is much easier to manage than other tools I've tried. Is there a way for the guests to see the scene I'm streaming? I know they can shift camera focus, but can they see the actual current scene I'm broadcasting with overlays video, etc.? Maybe I just missed something...
Adrian, any feedback on using a switch board or external recorder w this? I have ECAMM PRO and use Rodecaster which always worked with the old version but I’m having issues w this BETA. There’s echoing on the other end. Thoughts?
THANK YOU for this QUESTION: How do I keep the Guest audio from being picked up in my mic? I see these interviews the host and guest not wearing headphones that don't have bleed over, mine did.
You need to be using the built in speakers of your MBP, iMac, Mac Mini for the Echo cancelation feature to work. That is on the audio levels tab and will be greyed out if you are using external speakers.
G'day mate. It was only quick but it appears the comment window on the guest end doesn't show the profile icons like it does at the host end. If this is so may I ask for that feature to be added as when teaching and learning seeing profile pictures help the teaching team engage more with the learners aka students.
Have the time limits changed for the interview feature? I thought you could ONLY get it on the Pro plan, but you are saying you get a few hours on standard?
Soooooo exciting. Thank you for the training. Question do you have a training that teaches on settings for Sony cameras as webcam. I have a horrible lag and I don’t know how to fix it.
Thanks. Helpful! Question: Could I have a share screen in Interview mode & have a Keynote presentation or video playing & use the Interview mode to talk over my slides? Would I need a 2nd camera or could I use webcam for me & share screen for the keynote?
I'm having a double audio problem. When I'm speaking (I'm using a usb in out notepad-8fx soundboard) the audio comes out from only one ch but when the guest is talking the sounds comes out double trough his interview channel and my notepad-8fx channel as well. Is there any way to fix this?
Yes, you can bring on a guest and just talk (no recording, not live), live stream with a guest (and you'll get the high quality recording when you're done), or record only.
It‘s currently in beta. You can have the normal Ecamm Live and the beta version side by side on the same computer. learn.ecamm.com/ecamm-live-manual/008-interview-mode/
Hi, if we're already live on facebook, and we're playing a video, can we still talk with my guest in the interview without hearing us on the livestream? Thank you.
Hi Adrian. Do you have any suggestions for how badly the guest's audio echos on the live side? The echo cancellation is ONLY available for internal speakers. So, outside of us wearing headsets (NO - we're not gamers), the interview option is completely unusable. So disappointed that this one issue makes the whole lot garbage.
Don't run away yet, it's in BETA right now to use Echo Cancelation with external speakers ;-) I'll be covering this and more LIVE today here - ruclips.net/video/-cNkhiVwkrU/видео.html
Have you checked the saved file or are you basing this on the realtime view on your computer? If that's off then it could be a few things, your guest's set up, or your processor struggling. If it's the latter make sure to turn all non-essential apps off and try to free up the load on the processor. Hope that helps?
Hi Adrian, great tutorial as ever. I have a question. I'm about to do an interview (me in the UK/hundreds of teachers in Australia) Although I am driving ECamm (they aren;t on it) they need to project it to a hall full of people. So far they're not seeing a 'full-screen' version. How do we get around this?
awesome video! I wanted to ask anyone that knows this: does all the settings set the interview mode be remembered for the next round of interview mode?
Do you use a MacBook pro for streaming Ecamm live? If so, how do you keep the fans from blowing out of control? I'm wondering if using iMac would be more efficient for Ecamm Live.
This is so helpful, So one doesn't need Skype to use Ecamm anymore? So if I have Ecamm and my guests don't, then we can't use Ecamm. I would have to use Skype in order to use Ecamm, correct? By the way, we use Skype to do interviews and we turn on our Ecamm. But our videos still turn slightly blurry. What are we doing wrong? I can't seem to get an answer from Ecamm. Hope you can help. Thanks.
You don’t need Skype and your guest doesn’t need anything but a browser 😊 Blurry videos? What camera are you using and what’s your internet like, they would be the main culprit.
Sorry if this has already been asked before, but when using record only mode, can you record multiple guests on isolated video tracks like you can with audio tracks?
I'd like to use Short Cuts on my Control Surface. I also have Logic Pro X and for some reason the playback from Logic ( my guitar feed with fx / distortion) is not being heard on the stream, only heard in my headphones). Most of my issues are with Audio. It would be nice to speak with an Audio Engineer on the mater.
Thanks for your videos! I am really struggling with the audio and echo issues. Using Scarlett 2i2 with microphone and Speakers attached to my MacBook. The recording looks great but my guest has echo. If I remove my speakers Echo Cancellation becomes an option, but it also disables my microphone. Any help would be much appreciated!
@@AdrianSalisbury hi - I am now using inear headphones to remove echo via my 2i2. That fixes that issue. It allows echo cancelation within the software. The issue I now have is it defaults back to the MacBook mic and removes my 2i2 attached mic. So I get echo in my inears of me but at least I could do an interview. I am missing something in this process?
So excited about this beta...we had drifted away from ecamm because of Skype! Can we still use keyboard shortcuts to switch between scenes? I'll suggest it on the beta group if it's not already there.
I'm a newbie using Ecamm Pro. It has worked amazingly hosting business webinars on Zoom and I can control the video overlays, scenes, and camera effects - minus the sound effects as I'm not adventurous with all the plug-ins required :>( Would the interview feature allow me to play the Ecamm stream in the Zoom app, or would I now need to use Facebook live, RUclips or another streaming service? The webinars are directed at corporations so using Facebook or RUclips is not optimal. Also, can we now incorporate sound effects in using this mode?
Hi Jmac, personally I would be using an unlisted RUclips video in your scenario, I think you'll find most are fully familiar with it and use it regularly. I understand the hesitancy to use Facebook for a corporate audience. The interview mode won't work out to Zoom as Ecamm's virtual cam doesn't send audio, only video. You could use a tool like Loopback but it's getting more complicated and you now have 3 windows open to deliver your webinar. I say try it as I suggest and see if you notice a drop in sign ups. The experience of having everything apart from Ecamm open and having the chat right in front of you is fantastic, I wouldn't do webinars any other way now.
I played around with the new beta feature and was hugely excited to hear this. When playung around with it though, it had a massive delay on the guests end in the split screen. Yes, I think it is because that is the stream, fed back to my guest. The single image of my guest was fine, but that would not make sense to see yourself only in real time. Do you thin kecamm is going to give you the option to have a real live chat that is not delayed? Like in Zoom or Skype or similar?

Can Standard users purchase time since it does not come with the standard plan?
Thanks.
Can you record your guest locally (on his computer) and sync in post to get the best audio result when you watch it later?
Yes, you can bring on a guest and just talk (no recording, not live), live stream with a guest (and you'll get the high quality recording when you're done), or record only.
Or can you record host and guest separately on two different video tracks.
@@zombiebagels no, it's a combined track.
Having echo issues using the beta interview and with rodecaster pro
Toronto SEO Expert, Specialist & Consultant Francisco Leon check in the Ecamm beta group, someone else had the same issue
@@AdrianSalisbury Is the problem solved now? Im also using Rødecaster Pro.
Muy buena idea. Intento hacerlo pero en la pantalla de quien quiero entrevistar sale todo el rato "waiting for host" y no conecta. ¿Qué puede pasar?
Can you download the recorded video to edit it in another software?
can I copy the viewers comments on the main screen like streayard? how would I use an intro video for the live show? thanks
Hi. I do have the pro version, but I don't see this option, is it not public yet?
It‘s currently in beta. You can have the normal Ecamm Live and the beta version side by side on the same computer. learn.ecamm.com/ecamm-live-manual/008-interview-mode/
Stefan Mischook head to Ecamm love beta group on fb and you’ll see it 😊
You have to download the Beta verison: www.ecamm.com/beta/
Thank you for the detailed explanation. Looks like a great product.
Can i answer a call or participate in a zoom call using eCamm live? I am going tohave a Lecture on a zoom call hosted by a teacher
Hi, if we're already live on facebook, and we're playing a video, can we still talk with my guest in the interview without hearing us on the livestream?
Thank you.
Yes 😊
Don't run away yet, it's in BETA right now to use Echo Cancelation with external speakers ;-)
I'll be covering this and more LIVE today here - ruclips.net/video/-cNkhiVwkrU/видео.html
Not sure if my settings are off but I can’t record an interview without terrible lag or pixelation from guests.
Have you checked the saved file or are you basing this on the realtime view on your computer? If that's off then it could be a few things, your guest's set up, or your processor struggling. If it's the latter make sure to turn all non-essential apps off and try to free up the load on the processor. Hope that helps?
so GREAT - thanks - starting some interviews today - needed a quick reminder on how to run all of this ... thanks for your excellence - sLr
Does this record each audio separately?
Do my guests have to have a Mac or can they use any WebCam feed just curious
They can log in from computer or phone but computer with ethernet connection would be preferable
Which settings, position on screen etc? Yes
Love your enthusiasm. What about zoom
Yep, check out the virtual cam video, you can send it to zoom 👍
Thanks.
You don’t need Skype and your guest doesn’t need anything but a browser 😊
Blurry videos? What camera are you using and what’s your internet like, they would be the main culprit.
Do my guest need to have ecamm?
No, your guest can log in from any browser on any device
@@AdrianSalisbury wow. Thats great
Nope :) Guests can come on from any device and do not need to be using Ecamm Live.
Your timecode for Titles isn't very accurate. Titles discussion begins at 12:17
Sorry if this has already been asked before, but when using record only mode, can you record multiple guests on isolated video tracks like you can with audio tracks?
No unfortunately this isn't an option
Is there the ability to save the individual inputs separately, like you used to be able to do with Movie Tools?
Would there be feature that you can bring in a face time feed say from a MB phone ? Great videos
Hey Adrain,
How can I get access to a boarder such as the one in the video?
The functionality is highly anticipated, however the pricing of the service is a big turnoff
Does the other person has to have computer? Can they use.their phone?
The other person can join from their phone
It shouldn’t remove your mic, how is it connected, via usb?
@@AdrianSalisbury hi - I am now using inear headphones to remove echo via my 2i2. That fixes that issue. It allows echo cancelation within the software. The issue I now have is it defaults back to the MacBook mic and removes my 2i2 attached mic. So I get echo in my inears of me but at least I could do an interview. I am missing something in this process?
So excited about this beta...we had drifted away from ecamm because of Skype! Can we still use keyboard shortcuts to switch between scenes? I'll suggest it on the beta group if it's not already there.
Great to have you back :-) Yes you can, or you can use a presentation clicker, or a streamdeck. Plenty of options ;-)
@@AdrianSalisbury Perfect...thanks!
This is epic !!!!!!!!!! Great instructions !
Lovely video, thank you !
Our pleasure!
Like in Zoom or Skype or similar?
also, how could i get this to go live on facebook and youtube? Can I do them at the same time?
I can’t wait to use this for my podcast
