Gundam is definitely an intimidating hobby to get into(atleast for me) , I'm thankful to have individuals like you who still encourage people to try this amazing yet costly hobby!
Oh thanks. Gunpla is costly if you are a collector imho. I started customizing gunpla back in 2008, since working on a single kit for months, modifying and such, kinda makes the hobby cheaper. But then again, you need tools... so yes, much like any hobby, it can be costly. ☺️
Great video , Don ! Thanks to you and Nico this "retired old man" learned a lot about modelling techniques . When I saw PU reducer I thought it was a spray you use after you got to the bathroom !😁 Thank you for posting . Hope you have a great week, Tony
Ay thanks, I just got into a Gunpla kick recently as an alternative hobby to my usual art job and I wanted to get into simple mods and weathering to start out. Your vids are really insightful
That Vallejo pin vice is the same that GW used to sell in the 90's. I have two of those and all I've had to do is put a little oil now and then to stop the end part squeaking. Great tool. Excellent video too, even though my shopping list has now grown 🤣👍 "Old, but new to the hobby" 🤣🤣 love it
@@DonSuratos it's one of those tools that does what you need without looking flash. Simple to use, though I do recommend paying that bit extra for drill bits. I prefer tin coated ones (usually a gold colour over the cutting section). Hold a sharper cutting edge and rarely break.
@@DonSuratos Titanium Nitride. Don't think it's tungsten but it's defined harder than the dark grey rolled bits. More designed for drilling metal but they also work great on resin and plastic. Cost is like you say in your vid though. Spend a bit more and don't collect crap (love that by the way).
Great video! I've been painting minis for over tenish years now and I've been wanting to dip my toes into the Gunpla hobby, but I've been a little intimidated. I'm glad that most of my skills will transfer nicely, still concerned with which model kit to pick first, however!
Thank you. Painting gunpla, in comparison to painting minis is so easy bro. All of your miniture painting skills, should be too much for gunpla painting. 😉 Pick the newer kits, and just pick any design you fancy. ☺️
@@DonSuratos ive been viewing Nicos channel for a month or so you guys are very talented ive picked up alot of tips for hand paint and scribing Thanks again
Great, just what I need, *another* hobby to drain away my hard earned cash. Joking aside, this is a tempting idea, but ugh, even my level of OCD would be seriously taxed if ever I took up Gunpla! Also, with how the US economy is right now, I'm glad I have a pile of shame to be working through so I can be saving even a little bit of money. Maybe someday, though!
Yes bro. The PU reducer, acts exactly like the old school Tamiya Thin Cement ( not quick setting ). I use it for everything, even for miniatures. Great for dissolving mold lines too. ☺️
@@DonSuratos I'm still at the begging stages of my gunpla journey. I cut all of the pieces from the runners, sand/polish, than paint them before I assemble. I'm too scared of damaging the kit if I take the kit apart. I may make more complicated builds later. Right now I am trying to refine my basic skillset.
My opinion on wet sanding, there doesn’t seem any difference vs. dry sanding, except wet sanding is cleaner. I’m using both coarse and fine type sand papers.
"Get good tools or you'll collect a ton of crap..... I've got a lot of crap"
That made me crack up as I looked at my ton of crap.
Haha! I think most of us can relate! It is kinda fun to get new, sometimes fancy, sometimes crap stuff all the time. 😅

Glad you liked the video. My daughter Nico has more gunpla content here 👉🏼👉🏼👉🏼 ruclips.net/user/NicoSuratosGunplaSciFi
This was a really good video, and definitely helped steer me in the right direction. Thank you so much 💕
Glad you found this very old video helpful! Cheers! 😊🎨🎨🎨
Thank you for this video I'm just starting my hobby, and this helps a lot.
Welcome! I highly recommend my daughter Nico’s RUclips channel for #gunpla 👉🏼👉🏼👉🏼

Definitely an informative video.
Would like to have a beginners guide in weathering gunpla the easy way. 😅
Thanks! Glad you found it informative. Hmmm, I need a Zaku kit for that then. Will get one as soon as I can. Cheers! ☺️🎨🎨🎨

And so I was told bro. But it is an awesome 4 in 1. I was surprise to see something better than my old Tamiya pinvises. 😅

@@SteveForteGMR Ah, tungsten drill bits? My Dad has those. Awesome stuff. Super pricey though. ☺️

Thanks for the video bro 😎👍🏼
Welcome bro. ☺️
It's been that long eh, I remember we started out with blog sites back then. And yours was with the yellow kampfer 😆
Yeah, we are old bro. Kinda old. 😅🦾🦾🦾

Yeah, I a following your economy bro. Sad stuff about the inflation. Hope everything becomes better soon. 😉
I love how you destroyed the box 😂😂😂
The box is not good. The humidity here made it a bit crumpled. 😅
RIP box art. 🙏
You broke my heart when you first ripped it up. I keep all my boxes, but i understand if the humidity has ruined it.
Really helpful vid! Does the PU Reducer acts as plastic cement?
Yes bro. The PU reducer, acts exactly like the old school Tamiya Thin Cement ( not quick setting ). I use it for everything, even for miniatures. Great for dissolving mold lines too. ☺️
LOL! Get those stickers outta here!
Haha! I still do not understand why Bandai won't include water slide decals or at least dry transfers with the kits bro. We can pay extra anyways. 😅
love it
Thank you! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
That small olfa blade fits the tamiya handel ?
I made it fit. It works. ☺️
I never disassemble. I try to plan out my paints before I ever put the kit together.
Oh... so you do not modify or add details I presume? ☺️

Hi Big Bient! You are 15 minutes early. ☺️

Cleaner... that is the difference. 😊
@@DonSuratos yes! I use a mini brush for cleaning up the dust from dry sanding, and a nice microfiber cloth for cleaning the liquid from wet sanding
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
😉🦾🦾🦾
You are wrong. Step one is buying the kit. 😂
Hahaha! Oh right! My bad bro. 😅😜🤣
Get yourself some nippers, an xacto, a file, and a panel line marker. That's really all you need.
Great info for everyone planning on starting their model making hobby! Nailed it kabayan! 🦾
