- In this video we look at which version of Mario has the highest jump. I went through everyone of Mario's mainline games and measured the jump high for each of them, just to see which one is the highest.

I think this should be measured by where Mario's foot are, not only making it easier but even giving a pseudo practical use while playing, also when programming they are going to prioritize the landing hitbox rather than the decoration on Mario's head that could be his fist or cap
Well the thing is, that'll give identical results. Since 1 unit is 1 Mario tall and Mario is also 1 Mario tall the starting point for all of these jumps is just 1 instead of 0. So if you want to have only the height that his feet clear, just subtract 1 Mario from the heights given in the video.
Would be interesting also measure the size of Mario's jump in Mario maker 1 and 2 in all different styles (I think they are all the same and based on new super mario bros series jump height but there might be a subtile difference, who knows)

3:32 3D World does have a 2d section in levels like 2-3.
I think Mario 64 takes this, simply because his jump height scales by his speed, and he can acquire ludicrous forward speed if a player is appropriately skilled.
All these jumps are measured from a standstill, so jumping higher while running wouldn't impact the ranking.
Well my favorite Mario game and mainline Mario game didnt make number 1 (Super Mario Sunshine) but my second favorite mainline game did (Super Mario Bros 3).

This is really cool, love finding out that all the New Supes have the same relative jump height as the original Super Mario Bros! Also of course SMB3 Mario got the HOPS (PS the way you say Mario is almost identical to how I say it, everyone in the comments is just insane)

Like, sure you are American and probably lots of your viewers are too, but to people outside of the US, this unit might not mean anything to them. These people are not idiots (like me) and of course can do a quick Google search to convert the units used in the video, but that isn't a very nice viewing experience. Like some other channels I would suggest at least also putting down the metric values as text in your videos when mentioning them, a system used by loooots of people.
Not trying to start the old metric vs imperial or whatever debate, just wanted to give a recommendation for a better viewing experience for all your viewers.

@@bobmanperson599for pixel measurements it wouldn't be accurate. The ruler is measuring neither feet nor meters, but a new unit called Marios. For example, Mario jumps 3 Marios high in Galaxy. Just multiply his height in metric by 3 to get your answer.

Name the issue with the methodology. Go ahead. Do it.
In reality, this is a perfectly sound methodology that accounts for Mario's varying height in pixels across different game systems, establishes a consistent way to measure in-universe height regardless of graphics by using a consistent reference point, and converts to real world measurements.
