I have been camping for 50 plus years. Almost every brand I have used, the high dollar, high tech ones. For the money spent, for bikepacking, the zion 2 person is amazing. Great quality. Durable. Impressively strong tent stakes.

I couldn't stand the fact that almost all of the tents on the market were a bright color. I just purchased one in Forest Green. Thank you for your response.

I know, who wants to stand out like a lighthouse when attempting to be stealthy. I can't believe they haven't even one camouflage variation.

I've been pleased with my Zion 1P and Zion 2P tents. The video should have shown the rainfly rather than repeating several of the scenes.

I received the forest green Zion for Christmas off of my Amazon wishlist and really like the ease of setting it up, the one-pole design, the room for gear since I’m almost 6’2 and usually cramped in tents with any gear, and how you can use either the tent or rainfly by themselves if I wanted to. Mine did not come with a stake presser and I’m quite disappointed that the rainfly zipper is uneven by one inch therefore causing it to have an excess at the top and short at the bottom. I’m quite gentle with all of my gear and make things last for years so I would definitely like to see slightly beefier zipper teeth in the future.

dimeraider Well as far as the zippers go, they have ykk zippers which are pretty much the best you can get. The fact that you were missing the stake pusher and had an issue with the rainfly not fitting is out of the ordinary with hyke and byke. But.... I would call or email hyke and byke and I am sure they will send you a new rainfly and stake pusher. From what I've heard, they have excellent customer service.

Would you recommend water treat this tent before taking it backpacking?
I’m expecting the Zion 2P today.

What is upgraded on it from the original version? Probably going to purchase this tent tomorrow.

We have increased the amount of mesh on the tent to improve ventilation. Also, we now have 5 different color options to choose from. Check all the options out on our site: www.hykeandbyke.com/collections/backpacking-tents/products/zion-2p-backpacking-tent
Thanks for the question Rambo Rob!

    What's ultra light about this?

  • @FranchiseSIX5

I just got the forest green Zion myself today. I have a question though. The cross pole that goes door to door, it seems like the pole ends will poke through the fly when tightened down over time, or a severe wind. Am I missing something here or are there pockets that they fit in that I'm not seeing? If not, I may put some rubber caps over the ends.

I got this tent a week ago and had the same question and have been trying to find an answer. My question was slightly different in that I wondered if there were pockets in the rainfly for when it is set up as ultra light tent. When it is setup as a normal tent it has grommets it goes into to hold the pole but I have nothing in the rain fly. I would think set up as an ultra light tent, if the slightest wind came along the mid pole would shift and poke a hole through the fly or the mid section would flap and sag. I thought maybe my fly was just defective and some pockets were suppose to be there but I don’t know.

@@eljuez9665 That your comment, and the one above have not been answered makes me suspicious; is Hyke and Byke purposely not responding because these are flaws with their product?
I tried to find total cost including delivery to Australia, but the site doesn't let me order it, which is a shame as it looks quite good for the price. I also am conflicted to Hyke and Byke's pricing and ethics. RRP is $299 but at the moment $100, roughly. So at that price, they are operating and with some profit. My question is, are they price gouging and be excessively greedy at $299? If so, how does that align with their position they are promoting as good ethics and being the good guys? Hmmm.

john rogers They did reply within about a day, but they have no phone number to call so when they don’t answer a question you have it takes another day or so for a response. If you have five questions your out about a week. My Zion 2p tent was sent in a huge bag and so I asked if it was suppose to be that big as I also ordered the Yosemite 2p and it came in a much smaller stuff sack. They never answered that question either only that I could send it back and they would send another. So I didn’t get any response as to if the tent was flawed and I didn’t just want to receive another one that was the same way. I also asked if the rain fly was suppose to have pockets for the top pole to go into, and they just said to watch the video for ultra light setup, which also doesn’t answer the question. I ended up sending it back to amazon. I think they are a good company and good products but trying to get an answer about something was impossible for me. I liked the zion 2p tent but it shouldn’t be advertised to be able to be used ultra light when it isn’t designed to be used that way. If a wind came up the top pole would just shift because nothing holds it in place. I stuck with the Yosemite because it doesn’t have a loose pole at the top that needs to go into something to hold it in place.

@@eljuez9665 yeah nah, that is shit service. Every customer needs prompt treatment and service, and if it doesn't happen, does that mean the company is overwhelmed with complaints and can't keep up. A truly great product would have an extremely low complaint count, and company profits would allow immediate care of the complainant.

I've had my Zion 2P for about a year. Camped in all kinds of weather and wind. The fly has not worn through at the point you are talking about if that's any help. I think the ring the aluminum tube fits through helps spread the load to the material.
I was worried that the materials would fail as it it is so light. But after 12 campouts my fears are unfounded. Everything worked properly last night just as it did on day one. If it did wear out there is a life time warrantee yes? But I'd probably just go to REI and get some tent repair material and fixit myself. I like the big bag it comes in - easier to pack away when it's raining and it fits in a 46 Liter Givi pannier on my motorcycle. Every email I've sent to them they have answered promptly. Best 2p tent I've owned yet for the money. In fact I like the tent so much I have since bought a sleeping bag from them.

What is the difference between the zion and the Yosemite besides 1 pound

    • @HykeByke
      @HykeByke  4 года назад

The Zion uses a single pole design with near vertical walls to maximize internal volume. The Yosemite is a traditional 2 pole cross tent. Hope that helps and please send any other questions our way!
