The ewrap cast on method is the first one that most of us learn. It is the one that comes in all the marketing materials that are included with the knitting loom.
It really is the easiest, fastest cast on. Ewrap the entire loom, and you are ready to start the project, however, it does leave an undesirable loose cast on.
I am here to share my secret on tightening up this cast on. I have used this trick since I started loom knitting, more than 12 years ago. It is hard to explain in words, but a video comes in handy. You are basically going to the cast on edge and pulling the yarn slack from each stitch.
Note: I recommend a bit of practice before tackling this on a large project, especially blankets, you do not want the cast on to end up too narrow.
omg learning something new to fix around the hat wow thank you amazing
Thank you so much for sharing this !!! I have never liked the look of the bottom edge of my loomed hats even when using a "non-loopy" cast on.
You are so welcome!
Thank you, this is a great tip (like all your other tips) :)
I experimented with a scarf that had an e-wrap cast on, so I undid the row and did bind off on it, and it matches the other end (the last row). It worked!!! I hope this helps...
Thanks so much Isela, This is great! Thx or sharing!
Thank you so much . I never would have thought of doing that.
wow omg thank you for this video, I always hate the way my hats and scarves look when im done,
Wow , thanks for sharing
First of all thank you for sharing how to tighten the loose loops on an e-wrap. Unfortunately I'm having trouble finding the slip knot loop to pull the correct string in order to close (tighten the large or last loop). Is it possible to make a short video showing this problem? I cannot find the string that is connected to the last large loop before the slipknot. I keep pulling the wrong string and I can't find the string that the slipknot was made from. I understand everything from the video except the very last part where I can pull the large loop to close loops. Thanks
CraftyHands47 Can you locate your first loop? The first loop should have your cast on slip knot on it. It is the tail of yarn at the beginning of the project.
Yes I can see the slipknot however I don't know which way to start pulling. I've been pulling counterclockwise from left to right and every time I do when I get to that last loop and try to pull the the excess yarn (big loop) and the strand of yarn (slip knot) are not the same strand. Therefore I am not able to pull and close the loop. I hope this makes sense because I'm confusing myself typing it.
Yes I do see this slipknot strand. I'm confused about where to start to my left or right of slipknot strand. I've tried starting from slipknot going counterclockwise and I run into not being able to find the big loop and slipknot not being string the same strand of yarn. So I figured that I'm going in the wrong direction. So I guess that asking which direction should I pull from because I can't see or understand where my slipknot is coming from. I have watched your video over and over again and I do get it.

Which direction did you cast on and knit this project?
Isela,
Can I do the e-wrap 3 times and loop over the first 2 loops over the 3rd, will this make the cast on stitch look like the chain bind off? By the way this is a great video, thank you. :D
Thank you! New subscriber here.
Thanks for subbing!
This is awesome, but all my ewraps i have done so far are loose and not as tight as yours. Does doing this eliminate all the space in the hat or just the cast on? how do I make it tighter with the ewrap and/or which stitch is the tighter of the loom knitting
that's the first time i saw this method.
is there also one to make the end not so tight? using crochet makes it tight, and just using a string makes it too loosse
Thank you
You're welcome
awesome!
correction Thx( for) sharing! lol
