Lowe 1436. Having money and being in college usually doesn't exist simultaneously. So as the old Russian saying goes, "to make chocolate out of shit," I did my best to make this an awesome universal fishing boat for the lake and river. Great for shallow and deep water. It took quite some time but I am very happy with the way it turned out. Let me know what you think!

*This makes my old motor look like a toy **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it's well built. I haven't had it on the water yet, but I'm very sure it will perform just fine.*
Not too shabby....you are quite honest and humble. It's a simple rig that works.
Good job my friend!
OK, right off the bat, I love the mods and the fact that you can find the good bargains. I get to pickup my 1436 tracker tomorrow. Thank you for taking the time to make and share this video with us. It has given me some great ideas. Thanks again.
Fantastic job, cheap, simple, effective, that's what i like! That thing must move pretty good with that 9.9!!
Awesome build! Working on one myself with a 16ft deep v row boat. Glad I found someone who didn’t go balls to the wall and built a boat the exact way I’m trying to build mine!
Good job! I’m in the process of outfitting my Grizzley. You gave me some good ideas-really like your extended deck space. Thanks for posting!
That is the way I want to set my boat up. Just about to buy me a 1436. Love the 2 swivel seats and the casting deck!!! Perfect just what I had in mine to build my new boat.!! Love your motor too!!! Very nice set up man!!!
Great job. I'm in the process of building up a jon boat. I like your simple and economical ideas. That's what I was looking for.
Just bought my jon boat and was stuck on how to how to do a few things and your video helped tremendously. Thank you very much
Looks great. Nice work!
It seems your front deck is bigger than most conversions I've seen, Which I really like. Thanks for sharing.
For someone “without knowledge or know how” it looks bad ass. Good job man.
man that boat looks good..nice and simple
Great Job! Keep on fishing!
Hell of a job & gave me some great ideas & info.
I’m from Adelaide Australia and setting up boat similar..
Your video is inspirational, thank you ,some great ideas..
Regards Ivan.
You did a great job. Be proud. You said it very well, it keeps you on the water and you love it. Thats what matters
Nice boat! I just converted a 14 foot tracker from 1980 and it looks sweet! I’m looking forward to posting a video on it and fishing/filming from it!!
Nice job....whatever floats your boat...smiles....fish on!
That boat is awesome man great DIY job. Wish I had the time and knowledge to do it. Party on Wayne.
Brother. That is an amazing job!
Good work, keep it light and only what you need!
You should do nothing different, as you stated it works for you and your happy, that's what matters. Keep fishing my friend.
This is a nice build. It's functional, you like it; and at the end of the day, that is what matters.
Nice and practical for the average guy. Ty and luck with the 🎣
Great build I'm sure alot of fun!
Very welldone. Tight lines
Very nice job!
Nice boat good job. Looks clean
Very informational... thanks for the economically efficient ideas! (:
Good Job my friend, looks like you did a really good job on your rig. We just picked one up the day after christmas, so looking for some mod Ideas and ran across your channel, Liked your video so we subbed you as well. Thanks again for sharing, looking forward to seeing more from your channel, thanks again and have a blessed week and happy new year to you my friend.
Dale
Looks great!
Looks perfect, function over form. As you use it and start making a list of everything you want to be different, you should strongly consider building a boat. You get exactly what you want and it is very rewarding.
Good shit man! I’m trying to do the same thing. Cheap and simple. I dont need anything fancy, just want to get out and fish and have fun 👍🏼 thanks for sharing
Great job! As you said, "I'm on the water!"
Nice build. I have an old Fisher Jon boat that's been sitting in the back yard for the past 20 years. Power washed it and tore out the rotted transom. The trailer needs some work as well. But when I get it water worthy I've been thinking I might do something like this. Great video!
Looks great man nice job
Nice setup on your Jon boat. I have a 10ft semi v hull setup in a similar manner and enjoy seeing other people's economic functional setups.
Nice job on the boat. Looks like a great fisher.
you got a boat, you did it right lol
Nice and simple good job
Nice job!
Good job !
Nice work!
Thanks!
Nice work!!
Thanks!
Nice job man I just did mine very similar I am definitely not a carpenter but I appreciate being able to see how you did yours
Looks great
Nice and simple, great job. It's a lot more enjoyable to use something you built yourself.
It sure is!
Great job on the john boat
Good little fishing boat looks like to me. Like what you did.
I have a 1232 but the seats are mounted on the benches to keep it stable. I'd like an outboard but a 55lb trolling motor works so well and i dont event have to deal with gas and maintenance. Super simple and i love it!
Nice little boat , good job ........
Contract on a pretty sweet build. I am Blessed to have a nice jon boat setup in my garage. Couple seats, a foot control TM on front and a dependable little motor on back, a graph, and a nice trailer. I do miss my 1988 Fisher bass boat with a 40hp on it...but it's all I need at this point since out of the 20ish places I can fish in about 1.5 hours from house...only 3 places are big enough lakes to really make me mish I had a 40hp and could go at 30mph long distances.
Good job buddy that's a nice little set up I really like it
Nice set up...I'm working on one just like it...I'm gonna use some of your ideas 👍👍👍
This was recommended to me, I like watching DIY Jon boat videos.
You live down the way from me, hey from Cherokee County.
You said it, boat stuff is usually way overpriced here. I just scored an 18’x6.5’ skiff with trailer and some goodies for a steal, it’s decked out, just not how I would want.
Your set up looks good, only thing I want to do different is make a rear deck and I may also create a long side compartment “rod locker.” I see you have a new boat now, but thanks for the inspiration!
Perfect.nice boat man. Think I will do that to my 15ft. Jon
It's a very nice person boat you did a very fabulous job two thumbs up for you I've seen a lot of boats on RUclips like the one you have but yours looks pretty damn good Perry from Seaforth Ontario Canada
ive got a similar setup..boats are plentiful here in michigan..setup like yours i got in missippi when i lived there hard to find boats in the south..u are right..
Great job 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I have the skills, but very little money, but I'm fixing to set my 14 ft Grumman jon boat up as well, you did a awesome job bro
Sweet set up
Simple! Looks good!
ALSO IN ATLANTA! I did similar - Lowes 1436, but I used a 2019 Tohatsu 9.8 ( can be converted to 20 hp for about $450) I did my decking different. Mine has factory flotation/seats on each side between the transom and last seat. I left the front open and built a long bench seat/bed sort of thing that runs from the rear seat to the middle seat on the port side. It is hinged to open and has storage underneath. I moved the battery forward behind the middle seat. I framed it with 2x2's . I have used 2x2's as a framing on several boats and find them to be a great weight saver. My entire deck and framing probably weighs 20-25 lbs. The most comments that I get are thet I put a Bimini top on mine. LOVE it!. Before this boat I had large sailboats and a houseboat docked on Lanier. Retired now!
Great job.....it's simple, and it's works for you.
Thanks 👍
good work)
Thank you for the video
Hey, if this suits your purposes then that’s all you need. Nice job. I watched this vid to get ideas for my own.
I really like it!! You should recess the trolling pedal in, it makes such a big difference on leg fatigue.
Good job
good job bro
That's cool. I'd love to have something like that.
Looks good
Nice boat
Good job looks great, wish I could afford one.🤪
Whats up Nik Z. Great job on the boat. My next to oldest son Patrick just bought a 14 foot jon boat. we were just talking about different things we could do. I'm going to send Pat a link to your video. Thanks for the video and once again great job on the boat.
That is awesome!
You seem like a hard worker
Looks good!!!👍
What you did with your conversion is fine because you don’t have to suit anyone but you. I wish I was closer to where you live so I could sell my Jon boat. It’s identical in structure and size to yours but it’s built differently. The only thing I don’t like about them is that they are too narrow and I have a hard time keeping my balance. Well take care and be proud of your build. There’s a lot of people that wish they had what we have!
just saw the video for the first time, and also just finishing up my 12 ft jb, I am shocked at how similar your boat is to mine. Bedliner on the bottom is also what I went with.
Love it. My same thoughts for diy, nice but not too nice that I'd feel bad if I wanted to change or add something later on. I've got too many other hobbies and obligations to spend a small fortune and take loo long to get my rig seaworthy.
good job
As already stated...great job.
Nice!
Looks good man be proud . Only thing I would think about changing is moving your transducer above bottom of boat you dont want to rip that off. Stay humble and positive.
I like it...Cobb county huh I'm in cherokee about to get my first boat 14ft bass tracker
Let me tell you something.....there's nothing wrong with your modifications. You did a great job on it, so be proud of your work! Every serious angler sets their rigs to suit their specific needs or wants.
Very good. I am in the process of doing research right now as I am moving to Texas from California before Christmas and getting a Jon Boat for Christmas... Just have to let wife know as I haven't told her yet... HAHAHA...
I DO plan on decking it out etc. and have been doing a lot of research and watching a lot of videos of other people crafts to get ideas... I like the Simple LOW COST way you have done your boat.
I am actually thinking of going to a two or possibly three battery set up with a PVC DYI Canopy with Solar Panels on to keep things charged as I also will be adding some lights for Night fishing etc.
I am thinking a 9.9 hp gas motor for getting around and 1 or maybe 2 trolling motors after I get to my spot as well as some strip lights and of course the required NIGHT TIME NAV lights and a couple LED Spot lights on the front side and back which I can use independently of each other..
One thing I will be sure and do is PAINT all the wood with a oil base paint to help water proof and seal it before carpet etc..
I was trying to get a better idea how you did the front to mount your pedestal seats as I have no idea yet if what I get will already have them or not...
Thank You for your video and I hope to have a video of my project up when I get started on it. You have given me some good ideas as to my boat plans..
nice job
Thanks!
Nice job, what counts is the job works for you. Enjoy!
We all have to start somewhere and your boat looks very fishable and proportional, just don't skimp on the safety gear though. Good fishing to ya!
Get your boat repaired at a welding shop. A good welder will reinforce the damaged areas. The welder welded all the V-shaped hull reinforcements on my boat. I had rubbed a hole in one place at the rear of the boat and all the other V places were very thin. He also welded the V reinforcements on the front of the boat that was damaged by dragging the boat. My Jon boat is actually better than new. After a few years, I can say the $100 I paid the welder was money well spent.
Very cool can you tell me more in depth how you mounted the back seat to the bench Thanks
Nice little build you got there. I'm over in Covington and looking to make a similar build. I know it's a bit of a drive for you but I bet that thing would be nice at Charlie Elliott, it's off to I20 East exit 98 I think
I watched this just out of curiosity. My boat is set up almost identically, with the same cheapskate mentality. Same engine even, but it's got Tohatsu stickers on it. Mine is a 14'x60" deep V, you're looks better though, mine was super cheap because of a big dent from a tree falling on it. I really love these little boats.
I have the same boat putting lights on it now. Put a 9.9 Suzuki 4 stroke on mine I'm also Georgia, not far from Atlanta on East side.
Nice job. Has anyone suggested for you to add some foam floatation under the deck ?
Good job, keep it simple after all it’s all about the fishing.
You got that right!
Nice
Great Job!! Now get out there and land a big one!
