    Good build. You need to put a wood floor over that foam. If you get a hole in the boat the wood over the foam will keep you afloat a lot longer.
    How you got it now the foam is useless. Maybe for sound its ok but the foam is not taped or tied down. All in all great build, looks awesome!

    Wonderful start! Don't forget the switches and your bow and stern light, their easy. Don't cost much either. Some of the neon lights on the front deck and two or three lights for your hatches. You never know you might want to do a little night fishing or run of time fishing late and need a little light to get back to the dock... Tight lines.

    Turned out very nice man. Just a couple of carpentry tips for when you need to address them in the future... Please don't take this as a negative critique, just helpful advice from years of carpentry experience. Unfortunately that build will not last you 20-30 years with regular use. Let me explain....
    The first thing would be to use treated lumber. I could be wrong, but the coloration of that wood looks untreated. You did well to use the sealer but with untreated wood and that particular sealer I promise you will have mold and mildew, and possibly algae, before 5 years are up. Home Depot carries a marine grade sealent by Rust-Oleum, can't remember the name right now... There's also Penofin and several epoxy based absorbent types that work well for marine application. And you don't want it to dry in the sun, you want it to absorb into the wood. Also very important to pay extra attention to your end grain on your cut 2x4s, that will absorb much quicker and leave you with exposed grain which is a lot more porous and a perfect place for mold and wood rot to set in. A few coats on the end grain would be my recommendation, especially on the plywood.
    The next issue you'll probably encounter, if not the first, is the hardware. Wood screws are quite possibly the softest screw you can buy and I promise they will rust out bad. Screws in general are rarely used for load bearing but on a boat I can understand why pullout might be a concern. My recommendation in that case would be to use prime guard galvanized or, if your boat is solid enough, regular hot dipped galvanized joist hanger nails. And you really should use galvanized steel on all the hardware you can.
    That brings me to the hinges...
    It does look like you have enough weight displacement that it might not be an issue, but they were certainly not designed to hold the weight of a person. And again, those will rust out as well. Next time around definitely go with galvanized joist hangers as you are hanging joists for a floor that will certainly see some moisture. That should see you through 30 years without an issue.
    Just a few tips. Boat looks awesome though, nice job man!

      when I did mine , I first used marine grade plywood, and yella wood treated 2x4's , the boat gained so much weight that it set too low in the water,,,so after wasting all that money,,I went back at it and used metal studs,,,and made the casting deck out of 1/2" PVC sheeting,,and with the PVC no need to carpet so my boat weighs a hundred pounds or so less, and have been fishing out of it for over 10 years now

Just heads up if you are using the hand controlled trolling motor you are gonna need to cut more of that back deck plywood to fit the mounting bracket. The lowes carpet works great too in mine! nice job!

    • @anthonymontes9425
      @anthonymontes9425 5 лет назад +1

      I haven't had any issues yet. Yea, If I held out longer before buying one or wanted to spend more, I would of went larger but decided on the 1436 bc its mostly just me. I'm 180lbs and I've had another 180-190 lb person and but obviously, as long as you don't stand next to each other at the same end you should be fine. I just always try to be mindful of the total weight loaded in the boat. My wife is usually with me tho (she's 110 lbs) and its never a problem. Granted, its not a 20 ft Nitro lol, so just be mindful of space and the rockiness.
