Hey guy, the fact that you talk a lot is very very entertaining, and it keeps one focused. It is your style. Don't apologize for it. Great tutorial, thanks.
Epic Videos
By far the best tutorials for AE on youtube. thank you
Sweet deal, I am taking all the tutorials you upload.
again, thank you so much.
Tonight, I discovered your tutorials and just watched and enjoyed both Summit 4.1 and Summit 4.2. You make long but excellent tutorials. I like your teaching style and pacing; you are clear, thorough and methodical. Thank you for taking the time to create these tutorials. For Summit 4.1 Character Rigging, I particularly appreciated the step-by-step demonstration of your Illustrator to Photoshop to AfterEffects workflow. Thanks again.
AE beginner here. Awesome videos. Thank you :)
PS. I've been using Illustrator for years now but I didn't know about the layer square thingy dragging technique! Thanks again :)
right. that square trick was neat
Don't change. Seriously great tutorials, awesome projects, and the mindless banter is hilarious.
All that praise only to find out the scripts don't work for AE CC ha ha! I just used a time remap to loop the walk cycle.
You can also hold alt and click between two layers to make the layer on the top only show where there's something in the bottom layer. It's like a mask, but you can always change de bottom layer and the top one will follow the changes. It also doesn't increase the file size too much as layers do. Btw, thank you for you videos
No one can make me understand AE better than MT. Mograph
Consistently the best AE tutorials on youtube. Null Scalar object = GENIUS. Saved me loads of time already. Thanks Matt!
Funny story. I just got job and they want me to learn After Effects in 4 days. Your tutorials are lifesavers. Thank u for that!
love your tuts!! gonna watch all of them :) thank you!
Great tutorial :), On photoshop when you copy and paste the effect on a layer (drop shadow effect) you can also, drag the Fx with ALT and release it in the next layer and it is faster ;)
You can also select all the layers and right click then do the "Paste Layer Effect".
Im glad you go through the whole process with no "jumps". Thank you!
Great tutorial, with every detail well explained. Sometimes I feel that other tutorials assume that we know these little tricks and just skip on ahead. The scaler tip has made my day!!! That will save me so much time! Thank you for a great (and funny) tutorial!
Nice tut, thanks for uploading :) One suggestion on how to make a paper (or whichever) texture waaay faster: Take your paper layer (or any image or texture), select with ctrl+a or select the area with rectangle, go edit->define pattern (name it somehow). Go any layer, open layer style (from the menu or faster double click on layer) go on pattern overlay section, select the pattern you previously created, set the opacity you like and voila :) Then copy layer style to each layer- one tip, you can select all layers and paste the layer style to all at once :) Hope I didn't wrote it confusing. Cheers!
Hey I'm only SEVEN years late but thank you so much, your method is way cooler and clean compared to his! Not dunking on him ( he's a great teacher) but maybe he didn't know better back then! Once again thank you and have a great day :)
@@yesneo6613 OMG haha how awesome to get back after 7 years! Glad you are well 👍😊
thoroughly explained all.... love the way u teach.. THANKS A MILLION. got what i was searching. thanks again
Hey! Great Tutorial. When you need to separate the layers before exporting to photoshop then you can accelerate the process by choosing release to layers (sequence) in the layers option panel.
lol I loved it when you're like "he's got some style !!" like hell ya he does look at that paper texture
I have learned a lot with your videos, so easy to understand, great job!!
Thank you very much for this tutorial, I have an assignment to do in after effects and this is the best tutorial I have seen, the steps make it very easy to understand. Great job!
those are the best hands i have ever seen. I feel like ive seen something similar on ripleys believe it or not.
This tutorial made me happy today. Thank you.
Just wanted to say thanks for all these tutorials - some of the best tips I've seen on YT for AE.
Nice tut. As a slight change, the back arm should be darker than the front because the back arm is going to be shaded by the shoulder and body. The front arm has direct light. Just a suggestion. Also, instead of making masks for each texture, take a look at clipping paths.
The back arm should be DARKER you mean, right?
Caio Xavier Yes, DARKER. I have no idea why I typed "lighter". I should proofread a little more before posting. At least my explanation made enough sense that you were able to pick up on my mistake. Thanks.
you're a great teacher, thank you for the clear and concise directions
"In the end of the day, how much time you spent with that little thing you think no one gonna see, more great it will be"... And again, for second time your tips help me, be in my daily work with basic animation when I try to do huge things that are trown in the trash, aside my basic and lot way simple animation are get like "awesome" - kkkk.
I've to get better and right now I am, thank you for help me with your tutorials :D
Wow. That was really awesome and helpful. You make it look easy. I'm excited now! Thank you so much!

Great tutorial.Very helpful
I Love you My friend , i have learned alot from you, just be more confident of what you are doing
Love how you say 'this may not be you throw a like up for' right after I liked it. Dude, quit demoralizing yourself, you are doing great. Though as a question, do you have to draw the character with perspective, like you have done, or could I draw the character front on and still make a pretty good animation?
Thank you for this great tutorial. It was really helpful and very funny tough. Every time when I look the hands I laughed LOL
This is awesome! Thanks for sharing! :)
really really really useful!!!!! high recommend
yeeeeah another vid!!! :)
Dude... I hadn't 30min ahead of me to check the video, so I sped it up to x2... Still useful and really hilarious... You should try.

Great Mentor! thank you so much!
Haha, stop saying you're doing things bad, you're doing great! :P I'm gonna watch all of these summits, just like jopavlog says, they're amazing! I really like your style :)
you can select all layers then copy the layer style
You don't need that Alfred thing. Just use the spotlight in the top right; you know, the magnifying glass icon.
nice hint with the scaler thanks ..
it's like being with a friend.
Awesome and very funny
Alright, quick question. Doesn't Photoshop rasterize your character when importing from Illustrator? If that's the case, it isn't better to keep your character in vectors when redimensioning in After Effects?
Awesome video dude, very helpful. And also, awesome character design skills haha
Thanks Mograph!!
at the end of the day this was great
