For anyone who is not living in LA and they don’t have the time to cook, the vegan burger at Burger King is actually surprisingly good
I've heard it's really good although a bunch of people say it isn't truly vegan because they cook it on the same grill as the beef patties. So some people wanna just say it's plant based, but still. Super awesome that something like that is widely available!
It's amazing. A lot of the Burger Kings cook them on the same stove top with their regular burgers which leaves remnants of meat on some of the impossible burgers. I still eat the heck outta them, though. They're so good. lol

Facts
for those who don't wanna use all that extra stuff like nutritional yeast and stuff: I used the mushroom-walnut-mix from this and used it to replace the meat part of german meatballs and to replace the egg part I simply put double the toast part. here, have the recipe:
(for 2 people)
5 mid-sized mushrooms
3 handful walnuts
3 tbsp oats
1 clove of garlic
1 tsp mustard
whatever spices you want
-> put in the mixer until paste
1 onion
->cut small
1 slice of toast
-> rip into tiny pieces
->put everything into a bowl and mix with your hands
-> form into meatball form
-> olive oil into pan, fry
very very yummy, have eaten three times last week, couldn't stop

Biggest revelation I had going vegan was that I'm not "giving something up", I am just "giving." It's a gift to myself, the planet, the animals, and beyond, to stop consuming animal products. This truth really resonated with me after listening to an interview with Jo-Anne McArthur. When we look at veganism as "giving up my hamburger" instead of "giving the gift of fewer GHG emissions" or "giving the gift of healthier blood vessels to myself" or "giving the gift of life to an innocent cow somewhere" - then we are focusing on a loss that was constructed through societal conditioning. We have the power to reframe the way we approach our day-to-day food choices and see them in a new light. For anyone transitioning to veganism, try reworking the way you approach each meal, and instead of thinking of each new shift in the way you eat as a loss, remember it's actually a gift.

Plantain flowers are meaty too when made into patties... I'm surprised the West hasn't caught up with plantain flower yet. They're a delicacy in South India.

The Monty's burger looked awesome. I'm surprised the cheese looked so enticing. I kinda want to try it. The homemade one looked good too but they seemed to put in a lot of salt and salty ingredients like soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke and then salted multiple times after that.
You could add less salt.
It also looked dry

Brooke Lynn but viral wheat gluten is sadly not gluten free :(. But I myself would try using maybe glutinous rice flour. It’s not sai tan but maybe it works?
For what it's worth, the Impossible Burger 2.0 and the Beyond Burger are both gluten-free.

As a non vegan, who wouldn't mind eating a vegan burger, this vegan burger is very complicated to make with expensive ingredients (I live in Sweden where food is expensive). Maybe rate readily available burgers?

I'm vegan and I agree with you. So many ingredients and also such a long process of making it.
Part of the reason there are so many ingredients is because they're trying to make it taste as close to a beef patty as possible. There are veggie patty recipes out there that are much less complicated.
Wheat gluten isnt expensive.
Tofu isnt expensive (if you go to Chinatown)
Nutritional yeast isnt that expensive (it lasts so long)
The only expensive one is mushrooms LOL

My family are Hasidic Jewish and we eat vegan burgers because we know they are kosher so I am a New York Hasidic Jew and there was a new restaurant that opened in Brooklyn and we went there and my English is not very good, I speak Yiddish so my sister ordered and it was great !

I think that's respectful
the impossible has a good feel to it, but the Beyond burger has better taste in everyway!! Trust me and go with that! Also the Gardien frozen options at the grocery stores are widely available, affordable, and all taste great. From the burgers to chicken, and especially the fishless fillets, so great and the family will love them even if they are not vegan! :)
matt t gardein stuff is totally amazing. My family and I are omnivores that try to not consume so much meat, and we all love it.
This is so much work to be as practical most of the time, but making an enormous batch and then freezing them would be the great!

Answering you, I can't have a lot of soy (too many hormone reactions, haven't tried non GMO stuff yet) or dairy (lactose intolerant), either!
BUT, I can have eggs, and have been doing a lot of experimentation on my own. At this point mushrooms are my best friend.

I worked at In N Out Burger for my entire young adult life and I think Monty’s is good. Good for a vegan burger and hands down better than any other vegan/vegetarian/non meat burger but not better than the real thing. The one thing that hasn’t been recreated is the chewiness or a real burger patty. Vegan burgers tend to taste good but feel like mush once you start chewing.
I've never tried a vegan burger but I've always been curious. Thanks for your input; I'm not sure I've heard someone actually pinpoint what it is that's not the same between the two (besides the obvious). This is the kind of polite honesty the internet so often lacks. Thank you, again.

Vegetarians just refrain from eating any form of animal but still eat dairy, eggs and honey. Vegetarians also may used animal products like leather or makeup whereas Vegans typically don’t use any animal products in their day to day life.

Impossible burgers, you're right - aren't vegan but 'plant-based'
actually right in this instance haha. unfortunately, impossible burgers are plant-based, technically not vegan. They tested the heme protein they use on animals :/ But you can argue that it was only in the beginning stages and they no longer do that, but there are plenty of producers that use animal testing at all. So it's really down to what you personally feel fits in with your beliefs/morals. You're still doing miles less harm than if you were eating an animal :)

Plant based for 4 years and had non vegan banana bread my dad left in the fridge that would definitely go bad. We are not all perfect. As long as we make an effort to make some changes and pace things out we all collectively as humans make a difference.
But if it would have gone off then you are being even better for the environment than if you left it- people wasting food is also a massive problem and I don’t think you should feel guilty
I work part-time in a supermarket and a lot of milk products or cakes go bad often and before it lands in the garbage (which it really does), i take it with me. I dont think that disqualifies me of being a vegan.

The best vegan burger I have ever tried has no tofu in it at all.. it's the LightLife burger.. similar to the Beyond Meat burger but Lightlife adds garlic and onion powder to theirs and it really smells amazing and tastes so good even better than the Beyond Meat one which I still like but prefer Lightlife!

An oil with a surprising amount of umami flavor is sesame oil. It makes things taste a little meatier and more savory.
