UPDATE: Windows 11 now works in CSM mode with the current updates, change out of UEFI to CSM and solve all issues other than slow boot times which is fixed by enabling "Memory Context Restore".
If using UEFI bios the problems still persist sometimes there are other issues such as the GPU it's self watch

I switched from MBR to GPT and then to UEFI from Legacy in BIOS in prep for windows 11. Then I needed to set TPM to enabled. Computer never let me boot back into BIOS nor could I use any of the recovery tools in Update and Security (I have 2 monitors on a GTX 1060). People were telling me to clear the CMOS, Take the graphic card out, the memory out etc. I probably spent 10 hrs going in to command prompt trying different things. And then you give me this and it solved it. God Bless you a thousand times!!!

I built a new computer, but transferred my old 1080ti (will do for now) and was hit with this issue - no BIOS screen from GPU DP - everything else working (integrated HDMI/DP and GPU HDMI). Spent hours updating drivers, changing BIOS settings and updating/downgrading MB BIOS... nothing (so much swearing... ). Then found this and the issue was resolved within 5 minutes.

I had exactly the same problem and it is solved with the suggested steps, thanks a lot!!!!. My computer was initially on Windows 10 Pro. It is on ASUS ROG Maximus X Code 300 Series mother board with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphic card. My Samsung 4K monitor is connected to NVIDIA display port. Everything was working with this configuration until I change Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) setting on the bios and upgrade it to Windows 11. Since then I cannot get BIOS display if I connect the monitor to the NVIDIA card (If I take the display from the motherboard then it works fine). The behavior what I see is after few seconds of blanks screen it take directly to windows login screen. The NVIDIA graphic firmware update solve the problem.

Thanks Eric/ Not Bios. This really help me alot with my new PC build (Z790 chipset motherboard with intel 13600k). Sharing what I encounter with my Palit GTX 1070 Dual. As per Eric's advices, I downloaded the firmware and activated the update. When the firmware is actived, my screen freeze shortly and it is unclear of the update was completed. My solution was to switch to the iGPU for video and thankfully the video output was pending me to initiate the update. After the updated, I was able to restart without the screen freezing or the restart function not work. I suspect the firmware has been updated post the above video, as in my case, I can download the firmware directly, without Nvidia doing a check on my GPU over the internet.

*@**4:30** you showed how NOT TO FIND the update, then suddenly jumped to downloading it?!?*
I have exactly this problem, Win10 boots fast but no access to UEFI/BIOS, as in when I press blindly _(DEL, F2, F6)_ to access all I get is a blank screen for Setup/Boot drive selection(for restores)/BIOS Update _(system doesn't boot to Win10, cap and numlock respond, I just can't see anything on the screen)_
    Two things:
    - what the.... you included looking for the update tool and not finding it _(drama?)_ , and FAILED to show how you got to it???
\___ that's ok for me, as I was aware of the displayport firmware updater, just my GPU wasn't listed, so disregarded it
    - which GPU's are affected by this? My RTX 2070 and old backup GTX 760SC both fail to display EUFI/BIOS on any of the 9 ports
AsRock B450M here, not running secure boot, and still crippled by BIOS BLINDNESS _(the BIOS is there, you just can't see it)_

    • @sparketech
      @sparketech  2 года назад

I was first showing that link can not be found by searching the Nvidia site and I can not even find it by searching. I have the link however which is in my video description. If you go to the download link in my video description and read the page all the supported GPUs on the download page the supported GPUs are listed. Did you watch part 1 video? If you have a VR headset connected it takes over the bios display, some people had success using a TV as their display to change settings. The UEFI problem never effected either my AsRock B450 ITX or the AsRock B350 ITX build I made but my MSI B550I Game Edge. I build computer systems often, you should be checking the RTX2070 manufacturer for an update to your GPU. If you don't know how I can find it with a quick search of your "exactly correctly fully named" GPU model. Mess up and you brick your GPU with the wrong update.

Just encountered this issue today with a 4090. With the 4090 NOT installed and using the integrated graphics, I get the BIOS and it's fine (using a display port to Dual DVI adaptor).

If you are still having issues after, if you let me know your specs CPU, GPU and motherboard it'd tell something about what the issue could be... I should have technically made a 3rd video because there are at least 3 other ways to fix the issue... like the CPU rather than GPU could be displaying the bios, a lot of people leave their VR headsets connected not realizing the headset is taking over the bios display. part 1 video has a pile of reasons not listed in this video.

    *Another potential solution*
So, I followed everything in this video, no avail. I followed other people's solution to no avail. And the thing that fixed it for me was.. well.. rediculous.
I have a valve index VR headset that is plugged into my pc VIA Display Port.. IF you have one too, unplug it.. It looked like my pc was prioritizing the VR headset as a monitor and was attempting to display my BIOS and POST screen in that.. I unplugged the headset, restarted my PC and boom.. my BIOS showed up. I understand this is a VERY niche solution. But, it worked for me, and there may be others that have the same issue. :)

I have temporarily installed my old gtx760 in my dextop as I'm waiting for my 1080ti to get repaired. A mosfet on it blew up and its about 3 weeks away from me. I have the same LG display as you. Using DP cable, display is set to DP 1.2 as the GPU only supports 1.2. I have the latest available GPU drivers installed. I'm getting a black screen until after POST, seeing the last second of a spinning loading-wheel from the Asus Mobo before it boots into win10. I can actually get into BIOS as the USB peripherals turn on and I can just spam DEL and after that blindy press F10+Enter to quit the BIOS and boot into windows. It's just not displaying the BIOS. I can however get into BIOS connected to the MOBO DP. I know it shouldn't be this way.
The reason I'm trying to get into the BIOS in the first place is because it's not recognizing my HDD. Win10 is installed on primary M.2 SSD. Not sure what to change in BIOS or where to go from here. evga 2060, main monitor is on HDMI and TV is on DP using an adapter so that it can use HDMI. BIOS will not show on monitor, but will show on TV. does using a DP to HDMI adapter somehow turn the DP into priority 1 because the GPU thinks it's HDMI? any way to fix it so the monitor is on priority? i have tried putting the monitor on the DP/HDMI adapter, it does show the BIOS, but the monitor is treated as 2nd priority after the OS boots, using FreeBSD, it really screws up the login screen, even when I try to tell the OS that the Monitor on DP/HDMI adapter should be main. The only real viable thing to do is to tell the GPU that HDMI (not the adapter one) SHOULD be priority1.. thus far, I can't do it. I'm thinking of trashing this thing and buying a new one.

    • @sparketech
      @sparketech  9 месяцев назад

This would be a lot easier to grasp in person BUT adapters are a common problem. Displayport and HDMI aren't exactly fully cross compatible. The point is adapters when using modern GPUs with old screens suck. I might know a way around your issue but depending on your version of windows and your motherboard you might be locked in to the bios type you are using. I have other videos with other solutions. This one is strictly firmware related and not compatible with your GPU... I still think it's likely an adapter issue causing you problems.

More specs could tell me more... If some of the AMD drivers weren't completely gone that can happen. DDU can fix that. Other problem could be if you got an MSI B650 motherboard, it sometimes fights with Nvidia cards and memory. Most likely I think would be simply the old AMD drivers or it temporarily switch to CPU built in graphics.

Real experience! NO easy fix. It cause from degraded DP or bad cable.
some Nvidia card's DP ports requires very good DP cable. Disconnect power is temporary.
And do not use more than 1 DP for multiple monitors at once to 2K+ 144HZ gaming. This will cause random black screen and washed out HDR.
No BIOS screen at booting is sign of bad cable. After you do this method to fix, you will experience another problem in windows such as cannot wakeup from sleep (black screen), freesync flicker/intermittenly black screen etc.
This problem affect with new widescreen 2K+ and 144Hz. This type of signal from VGA damage cable if cable has bad quality.
Do not buy braid cable (no box) from china. All of them are crap. Use PVC cable normal one with VESA / dsp 1.2 support DP1.4 8K.

    • @sparketech
      @sparketech  2 года назад +1

This is only regarding the bios not showing, rarely to do with the issue you speak of the monitor is more likely going to be running at only 60hz till entering windows however people using 4K displays are far more likely going to get blank screens even in the bios. You wouldn't believe how many RX580s and RX590s are fixed with a bios update. Good tip though for viewers though, DP 1.4 8K included with the MSI MPG321QRF-QD has issues even at 2K when using beyond 165Hz on it's 175Hz OC mode for a second or 2 going blank randomly at times.
I have been wondering how to make an interesting enough video on this topic and to prove any sort of point it may require that I use one of the fault cables I do have laying around.
I've ordered a display port 2.0 cable which is rated for 4K@165Hz to replace the included cable. Issue also happened on my old 1080P ultrawide (2560 x 1080) BenQ XR3501 which I've ordered 2 of one was good and one had drop outs using Display Port 1.2.

@@sparketech I know your point but this symptom is just point to some nVidia cards need very high quality of DP cable to fix. Yes, some not.
Cheap cable cause damage overtime it use. I think some material on connector is the main part that can degrade it.
My latest 1.4 cheap cable can use well only for 2 days then it start to flicker and not show bios screen and 144hz cannot set (Black Screen). Reboot / try to power cycling many times but it will goes back to not show BIOS again after 3-4 reboot after. (I use BENQ EX3415R monitor with RTX 3080)
Then I buy the new one yesterday (1.4 VESA/Box package/Warranty from factory) and go to replace my old cable without power on my PC first. and after replace, my BIOS show as normal and I can set 144HZ + HDR without do anything special.
I search many website about nVidia DP problem and many people face this especially on UWQHD monitors with 144hz.

    Hello
Recently I bought a New computer without an integrated GPU so there is only an Nvidia quadro with only displayports in it.
In my case when I turn it ON the screen is blank, and there is no Windows on it yet so it stays like that.Do you think it could be the same problem on my case As well
Thanks for your answers in advance.

@@tamasmezei3715 it is possible, there is after all an update which I list in the description of the other videos for quadro cards. it isn't always GPU btw which several reasons are listed in the other 2 videos. MSI B650 motherboards are also an issue after EXPO / XMP memory is enabled.
Also AMD motherboards take a while before they even boot up for the first time for memory training.

@@sparketech Thanks for your answer. My motherboard is a Dell 08HPGT and the GPU is a Quadro M4000. The other problem I could think of is that my monitor only have a DVI and a VGA port so basically I used a Displayport HDMI adapter with a HDMI DVI cable to at least connect it together. Im not sure if it could be a problem but hopefully not.

@@tamasmezei3715 in video part 2 i mentioned adapters can cause issues. It's common especially if you have a UEFI bios enabled... Easy solution to connect to a TV as I mention in my other videos.

It says, The GPU Firmware could not be updated. You know anything about this?

You never told me what your GPU is and did you check if your GPU is even the ones listed as supported. There are 3 videos this one is only firmware the other one is based on connected displays and other items, the 3rd video is other things not everyone understood and something I missed and a 3000 series specific update which does not support 3000 series

for me if the monitor is on / awake it boots fine and I can get to bios, but with monitor off i get the issue, so can't wake on Lan etc to access from my other pc etc. It just stops at no VGA card and black screens.
    hdmi connection gpu to display
I dont have onboard gpu so no conflicts etc.
my system is not even a year old or rather just over half a year old and the RTX is a few months at most.
    Asus Prime b550m wifi
    AMD 3600
    3600mhz 16gig RAM
    RTX 3060
Happened after i updated the bios, before was fine.
But the bios update did change all the bios settings and i dont remember what it was on, due to reading writing issues i leave things as default normally.
CMS is for old hardware I read, I enabled that and system boots as should even with screen off.
But mine is certainly not old so what on earth is happening?, I mean the motherboard came out after the AMD3000 to directly support them and the rtx3060 is not old at all only brought it recently, and the bios is a 2023 version so there should not be this issues.
It looks like the gpu has a higher power drawn with cms enabled might just be me? does cms enabled make a difference?
any insight to why this is would be helpful, is Uefi reading drivers from windows? to boot, ask as i wonder if due to a gtx being prior is it conflicting from there? would seem silly to read windows and guess doesn't make sense as how would you format format a new windows especially if you can get to bios without cms enabled.
any help would be great id like uefi if possible the windows boot says uefi / legacy not other os for what ever that means, does this mean cms is bios and Windows 10 is uefi, also is that why win 11 is not available? Don't want 11 anyway but whats going on?

You need the windows install to be done with UEFI enabled or it'll just black screen. I've experienced this previously and had to reset by bios to convert back to CMS. Someone else that commented on my new video also experienced this. You must install windows from start to finish with UEFI or it just won't work. Hope this answers your question.

@@sparketech yer it is installed it works if panel is on but not off, irony is the issues only started after bios update, like they muffed it up and i cant remember the version that it was on where it works. so stuck using the cms option. when from gtx no issues uefi to rtx no issues to bios update and bam issue. will boot fine with uefi if panel is on but not standby will just beep and black screen. you think its gpu if not knowing it was a bios update for it too bugger up.
