The writer made Saitama not so attractive on purpose because he wanted people to understand that a hero shouldn't be judged based on how attractive he looks but on his greatness and his ability to do good for the society.

Just like irl apperance shouldn’t be so important as people think but more how the person is like.
And because he was pretty shit at drawing in the beginning, so he made Saitama super easy to draw.
He was also bald to reference how anime power ups tend to make your hair longer and crazier. Saitama's power up made him bald.
Anyway it feels like I'm the only one to adore Saitamas looks and his entire outfit personally. Even his meme eye's and face are my favorite it has some uncanny distinctive cold ominous vibe to it. I would say he's overall unique and distinctive as a character. This is our bald dude Saitama aka

This is good satire. And yet, love how this anime/story gives us a good definition for what a hero should be. Love the POV of Saitama that although being the strongest, he still respects other heroes. And yet other POVs like Genos' or Fubuki are really good. They stumbled upon a gem.

The reason why Saitama face change from silly to serious sometimes.. well it is because of his boredom. Brought on by the fact that his own extreme power made fighting too easy, causes him to have an extremely plain appearance. Essentially, the more emotional Saitama is, the more dynamically he is drawn/animated.

they kept some of the original idea from the original drawing. The person that made that story was a good storyteller, but a bad drawer.

4:42 Well observed.. The first enemy is actually voiced by a Dragonball Z VA for Frieza, and the look also resembles Piccolo from the same series.. I believe the S1 director of this series have a very vast connections with all the prominent talent in the anime scene that a lot of them pitched in on the project.. that's why it is so fucking good..
Funnily enough, he’s voiced by Piccolo’s voice actor in the dub.

This is my third favorite anime, I’ve seen it like 8 times and I even tear up from certain episodes and OSTs tho there really isn’t anything to tear up about, just a special place in heart for this

So hyped you guys started this, I can already see Ron having ideas about tattoos lol. Season 3 will come up very soon this year and just like Attack On Titan, One Punch Man really takes it's time for new seasons as well. Also, the reason why the Author made him (One Punch Man) look like a gag character is because unlike other anime/manga the main character always looks like a cool person, with awesome hair, tall , smart etc. And he wanted to make sure that all the readers can be related to him one way or another.

Oh, his name is also a pun, based on a bread mascot in Japan. His japanese name is pronounces Wan Pan Man, and the bread mascot is Anpanman. They even dress similarly.
Edit: I have since learned that Anpanman is not a mascot, but an actual superhero. I did already know his head was a bun, though.
Anpanman is not a bread mascot… he’s a superhero whose head is actually a sweet bun. It’s a children’s anime.

There is no MCU project that comes even close to having character development on the same level as OPM.
The writer is just amazing, Both this and Mob Pyscho 100 were initially amateur web comics done by this guy before someone spotted his potential and brought him main stream.

One punch Man is one of the greatest uses of satire in fiction. It turns the superhero world on its head goffy monsters as enemies overpowered MC that doesn't use plot or circumstance to bs a fight into finishing civilians dropping l Ike Flys without a thought behind it generic city names. It's a masterpiece
5:08 this Guy is a reference to show ''El chapulin'', a hero from mexico called ''chapulin'' in years 1973 to 1979, sorry for my bad english, i am from Brasil, and this show is very famous in our country until today
Also usually you see superheroes are excited to have superpowers and defeat villains but that's very unlikely for Saitama, sometimes tho. Although he's a hero his power isn't as exciting as telekinesis or flying instead, he has the ability to defeat any opponent with a single punch, and this power has both pros and cons. The biggest advantage is that it makes it easy for him to defeat enemies which is essential because he lives in an alternate Japan that is constantly under attack by monsters but because it doesn't take long to throw a punch, easily vanquishing his foes leads to constant boredom. All he wants it's to fine a worthy opponent that can make him fight at full strength.
This is one of my favorite first episodes of an Anime, most first episodes start off really slow, but this one went straight into the action and was just so fun IMO! Can’t wait to see more reactions to this Anime!

So just in case you guys didn’t catch it, Vaccine Man (the purple villain at the beginning of the episode) is a reference to Piccolo from Dragon Ball, as his design greatly resembles that of Piccolo. Also, he is voiced by Ryūsei Nakao, the Japanese voice actor for Frieza, who is also from Dragon Ball. In the English Dub, Vaccine man is voiced by Chris Sabat, who is the English voice actor for both Piccolo and Vegeta from Dragon Ball.
This show is amazing. It started as a parody, meant not to be taken seriously, and not it has evolved into a decent story of its own with lots of mysteries that are yet to be unfolded.

This show actually has a lot of deep philosophical themes in it. Every main character portraits a different aspect. Aslo the animation is TOP TIER holy f. Read a bit about it's making from an uknown person creating a badly drawn web manga to the top of popularity in both anime and manga. it is kind of insane. I d really suggest you guys look at panels of the manga the art there is something you wont easily find elsewhere

I love the intro because it feels like everything that made your question about watching this is entirely intentional. In the same way a trailer for like "Scary Movie" back in the day probably made people say "that looks so dumb". Think you're both at a perfect place to watch this, would be super confusing as your first anime

Season 1 is a parody on the genre (for the most part) because it’s mainly about Saitama, who is a gag character. Season 2 eases up on the parody and doesn’t revolve so much around Saitama but rather the world and other characters in the world. Still, season 1 is literally what got me into anime.
I’ve read that OPM has references to other anime. As u saw at the beginning, the alien purple villain was a reference to Dragon ball, and this show was aired in 2015 and Aot was in 2013, so the titan is also a reference to AoT “the armored titan”
I love that in the English dub of this episode the "Titan" is voiced by the same VA that voices English dub Eren
The funny thing is, vaccine mans voice actor played Frieza, also, the big colossal titan looking guy was voiced by Eren from AOT.

I love this Anime! I watched One Punch Man and its world in between Attack on Titan seasons. It was a breath of fresh air to have this universe after the violent world that is AOT.
You will laugh alot and feel emotional in some. This show will not disappoint, so much heart within a comedic action filled setting. I am so happy you both are watching One Punch Man

His name is Saitama. He was named after a district near Tokyo named "Saitama." I believe I read somewhere, it is the hometown of the writer.
I love OPM, neither the anime or manga are the original story but the manga have amazing quality drawing
