Just finished my first 72-hour water fast. I only drank water. It was easier than I thought it would be. I was not tempted to eat food. So proud of myself.

Hi Dr Mindy, I have followed you for years, I love your channel. I am well into fasting. I have just finished a 5 day fast, I admit I did drink green tea and a little coffee, But the results are truly spectacular. I am just coming out of the fast (day 6 ) I do IF every day every few days I vary it just to confuse my body. I am 74 and I like to think quite fit, not on any meds, and at almost at my correct weight and BMI, all due to you. I am now working on maintaining muscle. Thank you from the UK.
I just started doing 36 hour fasts this week after stopping them in 2020. I feel amazing with the ketones! Even eating low carb didn’t bring me the high level of ketones that fasting brings. Thanks for making these videos even as you are going through the stress of the fires ❤. We appreciate you.

I'm insulin resistant, easily gain, hard to lose. What is working for me without counting calories..is. INTUITIVE FASTING AND INTUITIVE/MINDFUL EATING!!! I FAST UNTIL VERY HUNGRY, WALK IN FASTED STATE, STOP EATING WHEN NO LONGER HUNGRY... That is the hardest part!!! No matter what the food is.. If you eat what you want when you want it and STOP when NO longer hungry... you will not gain weight. Everything is about balance... and you need to not STRESS because that causes insulin spikes.... Relax... fast.. eat.. don't over eat :)
Dr. Mindy, I finished the 3 day water fast, and all went well . Something amazing has happened. I read both books, eat like a girl, and fast like a girl. Started my fasting journey in May this past year. At that time, I had both a mammogram and breast MRI with contrast. Both were positive for growths on both breasts. It took long to have a repeat MRI along with an ultrasound of my breast. Both are done with contrast. Both breasts are clear of any findings. I spoke with the radiologist, who appeared completely confused. I was previously ordered to have a biopsy on my left breast growth. I believe the long fasting has healed my breasts. I am so grateful for the knowledge you bring . You are saving many lives. I love your heart ❤.

My husband is a complete super thin sugar burner. But super sensitive and always on the defense. Saying all that my point is, I've been in a beautiful fat burning mood happy energized loads of energy to where he'll say calm down your driving me crazy yadda yadda. I felt so defeated. Now hearing this to where a person can actually become calm I have to try again. Thank you Dr Mindy. The longest I've ever gone without food was 3 days but that was a long time ago. I discovered healthy Keto bk in 2019 or so. I feel off because of lots of pressure in one way or the other. I do miss it. This video is giving me more info and the encouragement I need. As always Dr. Mindy wonderful video. I consider you one of "THE Authority" on fasting and nutrition. I have a request that you do a detailed video on how we should mix up our fasts. I have learned and built the ability to fast OMAD all the way to 60 hours not quite 72 hours. I believe that I can do it, I just haven't attempted it. I currently do a rolling 36-48hour fast. I was listening and it seems that you are a proponent of mixing up our fasts for different lengths. I myself am 61 years old and post menopausal. I don't have the distraction of a menstrul period to watch for in my fasting. I hope you will make a video addressing this issue. I don't think I am the only listner with this question.

So it seems im having a problem getting past the 24hr window, i think because I'm living with major chronic pain issues 24-7 (and other fun stuff) im in bed pretty much 24-7. I find my mind wants that comfort of eating as well as something to do, also i know eating will helps my stomach with my pain pills. Im very proud of my self that on 3/24 I've been very dedicated to intermittent fasting and healthy keto diet lifestyle (I do 20/4 fasting most days) ive lost 37lb. 3 weeks now that ive pushed myself to try a 24hr fast on Sundays and just this week I woke up and noticed my all over pain has calmed down to a more tolerable pain. Its friggin amazing, i still have pain in specific bad places but it normally radiates all over 24-7 and it has totally calmed down, it's now 4 day in a row of less pain, its unbelievable...I 100% believe its from extending my fast to 24hrs one day a week, ive had this non stop pain sence 2016. So I would love to get myself past 24hrs to the 36hr and see what benefits of relief i might experience, I just don't know how yet...but ill keep trying. congrats on getting started on journey to being pain free. I completed my first ever 72 hr fast yesterday evening. I had only once completed the 36 hr fast previously and it was hard. During the 72 hr fast, I experienced headache and being cold at about 22 hrs. I drank some hot green tea with ginger, ACV and lemon and had a short nap. I woke feeling much better. I take blood thinners twice per day, so had a fasted snack when I took my meds. That really helped a lot. Day 2 and 3 were much easier than day 1. Try the 72 hr fast and use the fasted snacks to take your meds with. At 72 hrs I was not hungry, but did break my fast. I feel fantastic today, clear headed and pain free.
your amazing! im in the same boat as you, think being home with health issues is hard to stay out of the kitchen. But we can do it....when we really really want it. Im going to do 48 hour soon. Will feel so good to push through it. Try colouring in, doing a jigsaw, binge watching something.

I've been doing a 3 day water fast to be completed this evening and have been watching your videos to motivate me during difficult moments (day 2!). Today, I feel very relaxed and calm and am thinking of extending the fast till tomorrow evening (I have a lunch on Sunday and don't want to break my fast with whatever we'll be having). Why did I start? Feeling bloated, sluggish and heavy after the holiday season, plus lots of stomach noises which told me something was not right with my gut. Since yesterday, my stomach is quiet and I feel more like my normal self. Today, lots of energy and a constant impulse to do things! BTW, my fast has been 'dirty' in that I've had cups of tea with a dash of milk, coffee, marmite in hot water and a sneaky 0% beer in the evening :D
A great Video which really sums everything up. Once you start Time Restricted eating it becomes very doable---it becomes a lifestyle. Your weight & health improve & you feel fantastic. If you combine Intermittent Fasting with eating Natural Healthy foods in your eating window----and also getting plenty of exercise & sleep-----your metabolic health will be as good as it gets.
I started my 72 hr fast yesterday! Most frustrating is having doctor friends and NP friends saying how unhealthy this is and how Keto "Diet" and fasting is not good for me?! Frustrating...
So on third day of 3 day fasting just had water and vinegar fermented food then soup 🍜 snacks latte maybe another cooked foods then no food till I get back I will not weigh myself until end of April because will go to alternating fast next week ❤
Just did my first 72! Actually I ended up doing 86 hours 45 min. Felt great yesterday when I went to bed, but when I got up-I felt kinda weak and lightheaded. Broke my fast with bone broth, pickled asparagus, a scoop of peanut butter, eggs, and avocado. Feeling much better now. I think it MIGHT have been the effects of low blood sugar. It was a very strange feeling!!
Im at the part about knowing when youve entered into the fat burner state. Before I ever considered intentional interment fasting or even knew what keto was, I would do this frequently. It's kinda weird though, because I was (still am) overweight. I'd think to myself, "It's okay, if I get past this hunger pang, my appetite would be decreased." I realized this because my "treat" would be going out to dinner with a friend after work and I'd get a regular meal and wouldnt be able to finish it. So now I know I was likely in fat burner state, but didnt stay there long enough to make a drastic difference in my weight.

QUESTION! Hi Mindy! I love your content and I have both your Fast and Eat like a girl books, they've been so helpful! And I've been able to lose 20lbs in the past year. I want to lose 30 this year. I've recently quit smoking and I've been using nicotine lozenges to help me not go back to smoking. The lozenges contain mannitol. How would mannitol affect my glucose and autophagy if I use the lozenges while I fast? And how would nicotine impact it?
I've been fasting for 12-14 hrs for years unknowingly but I just bumped it to 15. I tried 16 but felt a little funny so mastering 15 first. I can't loose weight even though I eat healthy. But I'm mostly sedentary so I've been getting in a daily 20 min walk. Really hoping this helps. Thank you Dr. Mindy❤

I got down to 94 lbs around beginning of Covid but maintained weight around 101 for over a year then gave in to non stop criticism. I'm now 120 maybe 125 but I don't feel as confident and bone pain when I eat like shit. Lol
I can easily fast for 16-18 hours,but can't go beyond that. I am not overweight,but I would like to experience the benefit of fat burning. How do I know I am in that stage?

I do extended fasts on the regular and I’m hungry everyday that I do it. I’m also insulin resistant so I don’t know if that has anything to do with it.

It also depends on what you eat the day prior to your next fast right? In other words if we eat bad then the next fast will be struggle ? Nutrient dense foods def make a difference and no sugar boxed carbs etc plus protein helps me not struggle my next fast … took a while for me to learn that 😂❤🎉

Sometimes when I am fasting and hit the 13 to 17 hour stage I develop a headache. Even after I eat I will have that headache for a while afterwards usually several hours. What could be the issue?

I have learned and built the ability to fast OMAD all the way to 60 hours not quite 72 hours. I believe that I can do it, I just haven't attempted it. I currently do a rolling 36-48hour fast. I was listening and it seems that you are a proponent of mixing up our fasts for different lengths. I myself am 61 years old and post menopausal. I don't have the distraction of a menstrul period to watch for in my fasting. I hope you will make a video addressing this issue. I don't think I am the only listner with this question.

71 hours and 20 minutes into my 72 hour fast 🥳🥳🥳 Feeling great but ready to eat lol

So it seems im having a problem getting past the 24hr window, i think because I'm living with major chronic pain issues 24-7 (and other fun stuff) im in bed pretty much 24-7.
I find my mind wants that comfort of eating as well as something to do, also i know eating will helps my stomach with my pain pills.
Im very proud of my self that on 3/24 I've been very dedicated to intermittent fasting and healthy keto diet lifestyle (I do 20/4 fasting most days) ive lost 37lb. 3 weeks now that ive pushed myself to try a 24hr fast on Sundays and just this week I woke up and noticed my all over pain has calmed down to a more tolerable pain.
Its friggin amazing, i still have pain in specific bad places but it normally radiates all over 24-7 and it has totally calmed down, it's now 4 day in a row of less pain, its unbelievable...I 100% believe its from extending my fast to 24hrs one day a week,
ive had this non stop pain sence 2016.
So I would love to get myself past 24hrs to the 36hr and see what benefits of relief i might experience, I just don't know how yet...but ill keep trying.

congrats on getting started on journey to being pain free. I completed my first ever 72 hr fast yesterday evening. I had only once completed the 36 hr fast previously and it was hard. During the 72 hr fast, I experienced headache and being cold at about 22 hrs. I drank some hot green tea with ginger, ACV and lemon and had a short nap. I woke feeling much better. I take blood thinners twice per day, so had a fasted snack when I took my meds. That really helped a lot. Day 2 and 3 were much easier than day 1. Try the 72 hr fast and use the fasted snacks to take your meds with. At 72 hrs I was not hungry, but did break my fast. I feel fantastic today, clear headed and pain free.

I've been doing a 3 day water fast to be completed this evening and have been watching your videos to motivate me during difficult moments (day 2!). Today, I feel very relaxed and calm and am thinking of extending the fast till tomorrow evening (I have a lunch on Sunday and don't want to break my fast with whatever we'll be having).
Why did I start? Feeling bloated, sluggish and heavy after the holiday season, plus lots of stomach noises which told me something was not right with my gut. Since yesterday, my stomach is quiet and I feel more like my normal self. Today, lots of energy and a constant impulse to do things!
BTW, my fast has been 'dirty' in that I've had cups of tea with a dash of milk, coffee, marmite in hot water and a sneaky 0% beer in the evening :D

A great Video which really sums everything up. Once you start Time Restricted eating it becomes very doable---it becomes a lifestyle. Your weight & health improve & you feel fantastic. If you combine Intermittent Fasting with eating Natural Healthy foods in your eating window----and also getting plenty of exercise & sleep-----your metabolic health will be as good as it gets.

Most frustrating is having doctor friends and NP friends saying how unhealthy this is and how Keto "Diet" and fasting is not good for me?! Frustrating...
So on third day of 3 day fasting just had water and vinegar fermented food then soup 🍜 snacks latte maybe another cooked foods then no food till I get back

Just did my first 72! Actually I ended up doing 86 hours 45 min. Felt great yesterday when I went to bed, but when I got up-I felt kinda weak and lightheaded.
Broke my fast with bone broth, pickled asparagus, a scoop of peanut butter, eggs, and avocado.
Feeling much better now. I think it MIGHT have been the effects of low blood sugar. It was a very strange feeling!!

Im at the part about knowing when youve entered into the fat burner state. Before I ever considered intentional interment fasting or even knew what keto was, I would do this frequently. It's kinda weird though, because I was (still am) overweight. I'd think to myself, "It's okay, if I get past this hunger pang, my appetite would be decreased." I realized this because my "treat" would be going out to dinner with a friend after work and I'd get a regular meal and wouldnt be able to finish it. So now I know I was likely in fat burner state, but didnt stay there long enough to make a drastic difference in my weight.

QUESTION! Hi Mindy! I love your content and I have both your Fast and Eat like a girl books, they've been so helpful! And I've been able to lose 20lbs in the past year. I want to lose 30 this year. I've recently quit smoking and I've been using nicotine lozenges to help me not go back to smoking. The lozenges contain mannitol. How would mannitol affect my glucose and autophagy if I use the lozenges while I fast? And how would nicotine impact it?
I've been fasting for 12-14 hrs for years unknowingly but I just bumped it to 15. I tried 16 but felt a little funny so mastering 15 first. I can't loose weight even though I eat healthy. Sometimes when I am fasting and hit the 13 to 17 hour stage I develop a headache. Even after I eat I will have that headache for a while afterwards usually several hours. What could be the issue?
